A couple Ebay questions for you experts

I've read about the Sedesma pins on the boards here -- if the pins pictured on an Ebay auction are on WDW backings or "official looking" backs/packages, does that mean they won't be Sedesma? I'm looking to buy traders for our trip next May and will probably do a lot of pins from Ebay. Am I guaranteed that they won't be Sedesma if they're new, in package?

Also, what's the best way to search for "lots" of pins? I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for traders.

Thanks for your help!

No, you are not guaranteed. However, before placing a bid you can send a message to the seller asking specifically if they are Sedesma pins. If you don't get a response just don't bid. Especially if the person has good feedback you should get an honest answer.

Anyway, Sedesma pins are tradeable with CMs.

Thanks, Cheshire Figment! I'll be sure to email the seller before bidding.

Kelleigh1, a Sedesma pin is not an official Disney-licensed pin. They are made in Spain and look very much like the "real" ones. However, they are not near the same quality and do not hold up as well. (This is what I have gathered from the boards -- I've never run into one myself, although I'm not a veteran trader, I just buy/trade pins for fun! Do a search on this forum for Sedesma and you can find out more information.)

Incorrect!!!

Sedesma pins ARE licensed by Disney. They ARE official Disney pins. They even have the Disney © on the back. Many people have them in their collections.

The problem with the Sedesma pins is that they are not good quality and Cast Members sometimes think they are bootleg (fake) pins. Some guests have had trouble trading Sedesma's with CM's that are not pin savy. A quick check with their lead or manager always solves the problem.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I just recently started collecting the pins after a friend had returned from WDW and brought us pins and lanyards. I do also have the "Day 1" pin from my Disney Visa account. And when we were at Disneyland Paris last week, we picked up a few more.

I'm sure I've got a lot to learn about trading at this point.

Sorry, Kathie! Thanks for setting me straight! I'm sorry for passing along incorrect information. That's just what I read on other threads a few months ago.

So, what is this I'm reading on the boards here about them not being tradeable and CMs refusing to trade for them? Are they going solely by the quality of the pin? On one of the threads, it even talked about Disney making a policy regarding not allowing them. If they are officially licensed, how can they say no? (But then in a later post, someone said that was not the case that they were allowed.) I'm so confused!!!!

About a month ago I was talking to Steve Miller, who is a Vice President at WDW and responsible for all pin trading and pin events on property. I asked him specifically about Sedesma (made in Spain) pins. His response was they were officially licensed by Disney and their pins are tradeable to CMs. He does realize their quality could be better and some CMs are unwilling to accept them. He said in that instance ask the CM to contact a "Pin Manager" and that should resolve any problem.

No need to be sorry. Some people have posted on other threads about their bad experiences and it does confuse people who are new to trading.

Michael's suggestion is a great one. Always ask for a manager when in doubt.
