A Commando on Valium - A 7 Day Solo Trip at AKL ***Update 3/23 page 19

I checked in at Liberty Tree Tavern and the place was packed. I waited around 25 minutes for my table. There were a ton of little kids running around the place. Up and down the stairs, which I was sitting just in front of.

Once I was seated it took another 5 minutes for my server, Hugue, to arrive. I deviated from the plan of two appetizers because I was STARVING. I ordered a coke, the crab cakes and the pot roast.

0809170158.jpg

The crab cakes were delicious. They were very different from Kona so it was hard to compare. I was expecting the succotash that it came with to be warm, but instead it was cold. Despite that, it was very good and I cleaned my plate.

0809170157.jpg

The pot roast was okay, I probably wouldn't get it again. I think I may have convinced myself when ordering that I liked pot roast a lot more than I actually do. I like MY pot roast, maybe that's the problem.

0809170159.jpg

For dessert I had the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. SO GOOD! I would go back there just for that. It tasted kind of like a blondie type brownie covered in yumminess. The brownie was undercooked, but in a good way. And the vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce really made it awesome.

0809170160.jpg

Like any smart person would do, immediately after inhaling my lunch, I went to ride Splash Mountain. I used my Fast Pass and had almost no wait. The family in front of me had the most adorable little girl. She put her arms up on every single drop, no matter how small it was. She clearly had ridden it before and it was her favorite ride. In the ride photo I think we were the only two that put our arms up!

My Fast Pass time for Jungle Cruise arrived and I made the trek back to Adventureland to use it. I probably didn't need it in the long run, but it worked to my advantage since I literally walked right on the ride.

The CM sounded really rehearsed. His delivery was off so nothing was actually that funny. He was just kind of done with it and you could tell.

0809170171.jpg

I walked towards Liberty Square to go see Hall of Presidents. I had to stop a few times because the Castle Suite Winners parade was coming through. What a pathetic little parade they have.

At HOP the same weirdo CM that is always there was there. He puts on his "I'm important" voice and walks around telling people information about presidents and they pretend to be interested in what he is saying. I'll be honest, I pretty much hide and don't make eye contact with him because once I got stuck in a conversation and it was awful!

Normally, HOP = nap time. I sit all the way in the back row as close to the door as I can and shut my eyes. Today, there was a baby that cried and fussed through the whole thing, so I watched most of it. I did at least close my eyes and get a slight nap in though.

Somehow, I wasn't quite full enough from my lunch and so I got a Dole Whip Float. Those things are the best!

0809170182.jpg

As I was eating it, I crossed through the hub to Fantasyland. There was no wait for Philharmagic and I walked right in to the theater. My timing was perfect as the last show was just ending.

During the show, my phone rang. I didn't recognize the number, so I just put it on silent (don't worry nobody heard it ring) and figured I'd check the message after the show. I had ordered some furniture for my new house that was supposed to be delivered the next Monday after I moved in. The message was from the furniture place telling me that 3/4 of the bedroom furniture I had ordered was on back order and wouldn't be delivered on time. UGH! I didn't want to think about my move while I was away and now it was finding me. I tried not to think about it as I made my way to Tomorrowland.

Up Next, Tony the Bartender doesn't like me

I arrived in Tomorrowland where I found everything was a walk-on, even Space Mountain! I ended up grabbing a Fast Pass just for the heck of it. I knew I probably wasn't going to need it, but I didn't want to risk it.

I first went to the Laugh Floor. I have never been here before. It was pretty funny, which is a lot more than I expected!

I rode Buzz twice, getting in the 400,000s both times. I tried to get on TTA, but it was down - gasp.

I still had a little bit of time before my Space Mountain Fast Pass time so I got in line for the Indy Speedway. It's a cute little ride around the park that I enjoy.

I hadn't seen COP yet that day, so I went there next. There was no line at all and the show was just starting. I always hope that there will be an empty show so I can sing along, but I never get that. I still had some time to kill and TTA was back up and running so I took another ride.

I saw Buzz Lightyear standing by COP and I knew I had to get a picture. Unfortunately I realized when I was already in line that there was no Photopass photographer there! I had to ask the CM Handler to take my picture.

0809170183.jpg

My Fast Pass time arrived and I got on Space Mountain. I definitely didn't need the Fast Pass as there was no line whatsoever. It was probably my last ride on SM in it's current form. I hope they make it less whiplashy.

After that I went on Buzz a couple more times. I did well both times, but the last time was the absolute best - 948,000! Sure we did stop for a short period of time, but I still was doing better than I normally do. If we hadn't stopped I likely would have ended up in the 600 or 700 range.
0809170185.jpg

0809170192.jpg

I was getting ready to call it a day so I walked back towards the hub. There was a Photopass Photographer in the garden by the castle so I stopped to get some pictures taken.

image1421.jpg

I don't know I how I never realized there were those statues around the hub, but this was my first time seeing them. I guess I never go through the hub since I am typically going right to Tomorrowland. They are really cute and I grabbed photos of a bunch of them.

0809170204.jpg

0809170202.jpg

I ended up having Casey's for dinner and blowing off my Kona reservation. The ADR was for late and I was tired and didn't feel like staying out that long. Plus, the park would have been closed at that point and it would have been a hassle getting back to AKL.

I ate in front of the castle and I will admit, I fed a bird. I know I know, that's bad, but they are just so sad and want a little french fry.

0809170206.jpg

After eating, I left the park, getting a bunch of pictures on my way out.

image1425.jpg

0809170207.jpg

0809170210.jpg

I waited about 20 minutes for this picture - there were families standing in front of it getting their pictures taken. It was worth the wait though!

0809170220.jpg

0809170212.jpg

0809170227.jpg

Back at AKL I settled in and went to Victoria Falls for a drink, or two. I got another Sunken Treasure, with Tommy Bahama instead of Malibu. Tony was there, as well as Frank from Dublin, although he doesn't sound like he's from Dublin, not sure the story behind that one.

Frank made my drinks, which were delicious. Soon after I got there, Tony disappeared under the bar on break. There is this little door that opens up to a break room or a kitchen or something and they can drop down from the bar, it's pretty neat.

Frank made me another drink, the Mudslide Martini. It was a perfect dessert drink. As I was drinking that, a guy showed up asking for a Kahlua Colada. Nicki, the other bartender, didn't know what it was. The guy mentioned that he had it from the pool bar and tried to describe it. She ended up making a Pina Colada with Kahlua. There were some leftovers that she gave me and it was actually pretty darn good!

I said goodnight to Frank and Nicki and went down to Mara to get some Zebra Domes and Milk. When I came back up and walked past the bar, Tony was back. I thought it was really interesting that his break lasted exactly as long as I was there....I guess Tony doesn't like me. And to think, I gave him a pretty good tip last time.

I also stopped to get some pictures of the lobby which is just really cool looking:

Up next, My last trip "Around the World"

I had a wake up call set for 7am on this day, but since I was looking forward to my first full Epcot day and my Around the World Segway tour, I woke up about 5 minutes early. I had some time before I needed to get going so I sat out on the balcony and watched the animals out on the Safari. Being at AKL with my own balcony really spoiled me, it's going to be hard to go back after this trip.

0809180239.jpg

I took the longish walk down to Mara for some breakfast after getting my sleepy eyes working. I had a Mickey Waffle and Bacon. I filled my mug with Lemonade since I did not want to repeat the tragedy of the nasty Mocha I had the day before.

0809180236.jpg

The day almost turned into a disaster before it even started because I came very close to forgetting to put on sunscreen. For a girl as white as I am, you can't forget the sunscreen for a day out in the Florida sun! I am pleased to say I did not get burned once on the trip and ended up with some pretty decent color, for me anyway.

Since it wasn't a DHS day, good bus mojo was waiting for me at the bus stop. I hopped right on the Epcot bus and was on my way.

This was the first time I had ever arrived at any park early. I walked over to the princess breakfast entrance and checked in. They sent me over to guest relations where I got my name tag and met one of the tour guides, Olavo. Since my tour wasn't until 9am, I had about a half hour or so to kill. I set out into the park to get some pictures of an empty Epcot.

0809180242.jpg

0809180245.jpg

Notice that Soarin' has a 20 minute wait and the park hasn't even opened yet!

0809180250.jpg

As does Test Track

0809180252.jpg

Who needs Photopass?

0809180247.jpg

I thought this was pretty cool...Guest Relations had a board showing what restaurants still had availability.

0809180255.jpg

As I was walking around, one of the Disney Research CMs stopped me to do a survey. I was happy to oblige hoping for a code in the future...I'm still waiting popcorn::

After I was through with the survey, which pretty much was just giving my email address, I walked back over to Guest Relations for the tour. We had a small group, maybe 9 people? We met Brian who would be helping us through the training and followed him over to Innoventions.

This was my second time doing the Around the World tour, the last was on my January 2007 trip, so I pretty much knew the ropes. Grab a helmet, watch the video and then go to the Innoventions training area.

I broke the rules as I was waiting for Brian and Olavo to assist the others on the Segways and I grabbed some photos

0809180259.jpg

0809180257.jpg

0809180258.jpg

After 45 minutes or so of training, we set out to conquer the World, or at least the World Showcase. Olavo was a pretty decent tour guide, kind of hard to understand because he had a VERY thick Brazilian accent, but he was pretty funny if you could understand him.

We stopped and talked in many places around World Showcase, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Morocco and the US. In Italy, we had some free time to ride around and get pictures taken.

0809180260.jpg

0809180261.jpg

Now you are probably thinking that based on the title of this installment that I didn't enjoy myself, but you are wrong! I did enjoy myself, but this is really a good introduction tour. For people who have Segway experience, it gets a little boring. Just in June I had taken a tour of Washington DC where we got to go much faster and had a lot more independence than WDW allows on any of their tours. It's something I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyway who thinks they have the least bit interest in trying out a Segway, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who has ridden more than a few times.

I don't know if this will be my last Segway experience in the World, but unless there are new tours introduced, it may be my last for a while.

My first stop after returning to Innoventions to end the tour was The Land. Priority one at Epcot is always getting a FP for Soarin'. Luckily, crowds were low and the FP time was not to far out when I got there around 11am.

I didn't want to stray too far from Soarin', so I decided to ride one of my favorites, Livin' with the Land.

0809180264.jpg

Remember, there is no dancing on Livin' with the Land

0809180265.jpg

0809180269.jpg

0809180279.jpg

0809180281.jpg

I don't eat fish, but if I did, I think it would bother me that they are all crammed in this little tank together

0809180271.jpg

0809180276.jpg

I still had a little time to waste, so I walked over to the Imagination Pavilion to ride Figment. I don't care what anybody says, I like this ride! After the ride I went to the Kodak place to make photos. I always do this and never send them to anybody but myself - mostly because people think I'm a big dork when I do!

PirateElephant.jpg

SurfingDog.jpg

If taking those pictures didn't make me a big dork, the next stop was sure to seal the deal - The Character Connection!

I had successfully gotten over my fear of character photos in the past 4 days and decided to take the plunge even further with a whole area dedicated to JUST character photos!! The line was LONG - not exactly sure how long it took, but probably at least a half hour.

The characters were Mickey, Pluto, Minnie, Chip n' Dale and Goofy. Chip and Dale were really holding up the line because they were spending a lot of time with people. I was excited by this because they are my favorites. I actually had just traded for a Chip Pin with a CM at the Imagination Pavilion less than an hour before.

First up was Mickey, he was pretty much business only. We stood together and snapped a photo and that was it.

image1431.jpg

Pluto was more playful and greeted me with a hug

image1436.jpg

Minnie seemed genuinely pleased to see me, or at least that is what her permanently formed face expressed

image1442.jpg

Chip and Dale were the best!!! It took seconds for Dale to notice my Pin Lanyard and see that I only had a Chip Pin on it. I had to admit that Chip was my favorite, sorry Dale! He took it pretty hard.

image1445.jpg

Soon enough we all made up and got a group picture together

image1449.jpg

Goofy was last, clearly a victim of the backup Chip and Dale were causing. He was pretty playful though and we also got quite a few pictures together.

image1453.jpg

I really liked the time I spent at the Character Connection. It's a long wait to get in, but you get to spend some good time with the Characters and if you get a good Photopass photographer, some really good pictures as well.

Up next, China Calling

Wow! You have been on an updating roll! I'm glad life has calmed down a bit so you could come back and tell us more about your trip. Keep it coming. I'm enjoying it! :goodvibes

Wow! You have been on an updating roll! I'm glad life has calmed down a bit so you could come back and tell us more about your trip. Keep it coming. I'm enjoying it! :goodvibes

I think I'm finally caught up! I was trying to do one a week at least and obviously fell a LOT behind on that. Now I'm back up to speed with a little bit of a buffer for myself. Since I'm on vacation until Monday I've had a lot of time to write for once.

I don't know if this will be my last Segway experience in the World, but unless there are new tours introduced, it may be my last for a while.

Up Next, Playing Favorites

After I took my second Epcot Segway tour in August, I started talking to a CM who was walking around answering questions about the Segways. He told me that there were a couple of new tours that were going to be introduced. I don't know how true that was. I really think they need an "experienced" riders tour.

They definitely do. The Fort Wilderness tour was close to being there, but not quite. They seemed to gauge the abilities of the group much better than Epcot does. I think a lot of it has to do with there not really being a place to let people "loose" when the park is open and with the crowds they don't want to go too fast. I would pay big money to do an early morning or after hours tour when the parks were closed. Think about it...the parks don't open until 9 on most days, if you started at say 6am, you could get through all 4 parks and still not run into too many folks. That would be worth it to me.

I love your photos!

You as a dog is hilarious.

Thanks! I took so many more pictures on this trip than I normally do and it was well worth it. I have quite a bit of video as well, but I need to parse through it which I have not done yet. I know a lot of it is awfully shaky.

I was starting to get hungry and I had plans to eat "around the world" for lunch. First things first though, Mission Space was calling my name. I really am a thrill ride junkie and Mission Space is one of my favorites at Epcot. I did the Green Team once on my last trip and was severely disappointed, from then on I stuck with Orange.

0809180302.jpg

Reporting for duty, Gary!

0809180305.jpg

I was the engineer and did my job of activating hyper-sleep and extending the wings for landing. I take my button pushing very seriously!

In what was becoming an all too common sight, I saw the Dream Team WITH VESTS, walking in the exit as I was leaving. I didn't want a repeat of IASW so I went on my way and tried not to think about it.

It was now after 1:30 and I hadn't eaten since that morning, I was staaarving. I started the trek towards World Showcase stopping at Test Track to grab a fast pass first. The Single Rider wait time was posted at 40 minutes, I didn't believe it, but I wasn't about to find out.

I used what would become *my* shortcut and passed through the Odyssey. One good thing about that place is that there are very clean bathrooms because nobody uses them!

My first World Showcase stop was China. Food was the number one priority so I checked out the Lotus Blossom Cafe. I barely got into view of the cashier when she YELLED at me, "Hello, Ni Hao, Welcome to China". I was so caught of guard that I didn't even look at the menu before I stepped up to order. Thankfully there was nobody behind me waiting so I could take a second to get my bearings.

I ordered Egg Rolls, a sprite and caramel ginger ice cream.

0809180306.jpg

0809180308.jpg

The egg rolls were great, really hit the spot. The ginger ice cream was interesting and delicious. There were chunks of ginger throughout which I totally wasn't expecting but enjoyed thoroughly.

The whole time I was eating I was listening to the over eager Chinese girl yelling at people and watching the bus boy. He kept so on top of his job. As soon as it looked like people were getting to pack up and leave their tables he'd run over, take their trays and then wipe the table down. He never missed a beat. I ended up hanging back at my table for an extra few minutes until he was busy with something else so that he didn't take my tray!

Now that I had a full stomach and was no longer dying, I took a short tour of China. I ended up skipping out on the movie mostly because I didn't feel like standing up to watch it. There really needs to be some seating in those movies.

This was my attempt to take an "artistic" photo of the Terracotta army
0809180312.jpg

Love this guy!
0809180310.jpg

0809180309.jpg

I also looked around the shops which is something I hadn't done in the past. I came very close to buying a Year of The Rooster necklace (that's my year), but elected not to since i don't wear necklaces...smart, eh? Nothing caught my fancy so I left empty handed.

Next stop was Norway! I didn't do as much touring here as I had two things on the list - Maelstrom and Rice Cream. The Maelstrom line was short so that was my first stop. Then it was to Kringla for Rice Cream. I secretly really love that fake strawberry syrup taste and so this is one of my must haves. It was delicious! I wish I had one right now actually...

0809180315.jpg

For some reason I never go in to the Stave church...it takes nice pictures though

0809180314.jpg

I took this picture from Norway, but I'm not sure what it is now - maybe the American Pavilion?
0809180318.jpg

Last but certainly least (no I didn't omit a word) was Mexico. I hadn't ridden Grand Fiesta since the rehab - it was actually closed on my last trip, so that was number one. I wasn't sure how to get there, but I figured it out pretty quickly. I arrived to find ZERO lines. Seriously, there was nobody in front of me or behind me. I ended up with a whole boat to myself.

You can't tell, but this is a picture I took of myself on the empty boat.
0809180320.jpg

I don't remember the old ride, it's possible that I never actually rode it, but I did like the new additions.

0809180322.jpg

0809180328.jpg

0809180326.jpg

When I was exiting the ride I stopped at the glass shop (is it Arriba Bros?) and was lucky enough to catch this guy blowing something...

0809180329.jpg

I was really looking forward to a churro as my last world snack of the day. I happily skipped over to Mexico where I placed my order at the bar. In front of me were two people, who were maybe not Mexican, but definitely hispanic or latino of some sort. They were speaking mostly Spanish to each other and the CMs. They ordered Nachos and were extremely upset to find that it came with the stuff already on it. I'm not sure what they were expecting, but thems the breaks kids.

When it was my turn, I got my Churro, paid and moved on.

0809180330.jpg

Umm...guess what? I don't like Churros all that much. It wasn't very chewy like I expected it to be. I was pretty disappointed and that will probably be my last Churro in WDW.

Up next, New Home Week

We interrupt your regularly scheduled trip report with BIG NEWS!

I got a PIN code today!!!! It was for 40% off and just so happened to line up with my potential October dates!

I just got off the phone with CRO and booked a Room Only reservation for October 25th-October 31st at AKL, Savannah view!!!

And because 1 week just isn't long enough during Food and Wine, I also booked 4 nights at Pop from Oct 21st - Oct 25th!!!

The deposits are paid and I'm already on the look out for AP discounts for my 4 POP days (oh did I mention that I am getting an AP??)

I'm soooooooooooooo excited, this is an awesome way to start the new year.

Holy cow, you did a lot of updates...I enjoyed them very much though and I'm super excited for you that your going back twice in the fall! Also for the ap! I wish we could get ap's...that would rock! Can't wait to hear more! :thumbsup2

Done with my around the world snacking, I went back to Test Track to see what the line looked like. The Single Rider Line wait time was posted at 30 minutes, anybody want to guess what it really was?

I'll give you a minute...
:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

That's right, 0 minutes!! There is never much of a wait in the Single Rider Line. Plus, you don't have to stop and watch the pre show.

image1457.jpg

I wasn't in the mood for another ride quite yet, so I walked towards Mission Space to check the wait time there. Once again, I was met with a short wait time and hopped in the Orange Team line.

0809180333.jpg

0809180335.jpg

I was the Engineer again, and did my job very well.

It was beginning to feel like nap time so I took a visit to see Ellen. I walked in just as it was starting, didn't have to sit through too much of the Pre Show. I grabbed a row in the back all to myself and closed my eyes for a rest. When people haven't ridden Ellen before, they give you funny looks when they see you laying down to sleep :rotfl:

I hadn't been to Innoventions yet and wanted to check out what new things there were. I ended up getting in line for the Waste Management game. It was pretty cute, although it was a long wait - about 20 minutes - to play. And they don't seem to get a lot of people because the CMs keep telling anybody who gets in line, "This is a 20 minute game about garbage!" I saw about 4 groups turn around and leave once they heard that.

For those of you who haven't played I'll give you a quick overview. You start with 3 teams - maximum 4 people per team - and a CM talks to you about trash and recycling and all that fun stuff. You then go over a to kiosk and enter a Name for your team, mine was "The Trash Team", creative, huh? and answer some questions to determine your garbage profile. Basically, how much trash you create in a given time (a year I think).

You are given a mini garbage truck that you drive around to one of 4 stations to play garbage games. There is one where each person has to recycle a different thing (paper, plastic, glass, aluminum), one where you dump garbage into the processing plant and a couple others that aren't jumping out at me right now. It was fun, although it probably would have been more fun with a group.

My next stop was The Seas to see Nemo. Unfortunately, Nemo was down and so I had go inside the Seas first and look around. I took a lot of pictures, saw the Dolphins and Manatee and even found a Hidden Mickey

0809180349.jpg

I love Mr. Ray
0809180350.jpg

Nemo was STILL down so I went over to watch Turtle Talk with Crush. It probably would have been a better show if EVERY SINGLE KID didn't ask Crush, "Why do you talk like that?" Crush was right on though and had some witty answers. Too bad I didn't get to see what he would have been able to do if he had better material to work with.

Finally, Nemo was up and running. I rode 3 times in a row - the first time I just watched and took it all in, the second time I video taped and the third time I took lots of photos.

0809180361.jpg

I still had a fastpass for Soarin' burning a hole in my pocket (or I guess in my lanyard) so I hot footed it to the Land.

I still had about 90 minutes to kill until my ADR for Teppan Edo so I rode Living with the Land. I really enjoy Living with the Land, it's so relaxing. I often think about taking the Behind the Seeds tour, but I'm afraid I will find it way too boring. I was hoping that I could go on through again once I got off the ride, but it was after 7pm, so the ride was closed. I started my walk over to World Showcase with plenty of time to spare since my ADR wasn't until 8pm.

I headed straight to Japan, stopping to listen to the drummers before I went inside the store.

0809180385.jpg

0809180389.jpg

0809180386.jpg

0809180390.jpg

At the store, I looked around and found about 100 things I would have liked to buy. Eventually I settled on some candy and 4 bamboo place mats (pictures to come later).

With my shopping done it was time to check in at Teppan Edo for dinner. I gave them my name and they gave me a beeper. The place was packed, but soon enough I was seated. The other people at the table were 2 couples and a group of three that consisted of a couple and their friend. I sat between one of the couples and the friend. Everybody was really getting along and chitchatting at the table. You don't always get that lucky so I was happy since this can be an awkward meal for a single.

I found out in talking to the Friend that the couple she was with was from CT. We talk some more and discover that they live in the next town over from where my new house is - I hadn't moved yet, I did the week after my trip. Eventually, the woman from the couple asks if I like fish. I say, not really, but I will eat Shellfish. And she tells me that her father owns the Fish Market down the street from my new house and that her husband works there! All this time, the Chef, Tom, had come to our table and started cooking. He told us he was from Hawaii and a little bit about himself. But as he's listening to the rest of us have a conversation he add that he also lived in the same town as me many years ago! Talk about small world, we ended up discussing CT for most of the dinner.

We did do some eating too...

Here's Tom cooking the meals
0809180396.jpg

My appetizer - Beef Sukiyaki Rolls
0809180394.jpg

And my dinner - Steak and Shrimp
0809180397.jpg

The lady on my right was also very nice and we talked quite a bit. Her and her husband were there for Free Dining and very full! She said that her husband frequents the message boards, not sure which, but if you are out there - Hello!

I left just as Illuminations was ending, I didn't stop to watch and instead just walked to the bus stop as fast as I could. I got pretty close to the front of the line so no problems in making the first bus. There was a really loud, really drunk guy on the bus who spent the entire time talking to another family (Because I think his was ignoring him). He thought he was hilarious, which he wasn't, and I was glad when that bus ride was over.

I got back to the room and had my Zebra Domes and milk. They were totally not what I was expecting, but were delicious!

Sounds like a fun day. It's good that you had such friendly people for you dinner at Japan. I would imagine it would be pretty lousy there if the people weren't friendly.

I definitely think a good table makes all the difference in the world, I had a great time!

I actually managed to sleep in late, well Disney late, today. I woke up around 7:45 and just lazed around for a bit. I wandered out to the balcony watching the animals, there were a ton out. I saw Eland, Giraffe and Ankole Cattle (my new favorites)

I briefly considered going to Boma for breakfast, it didn't look too busy, but opted for Mara instead. I got a Bounty Platter and some OJ. And some Zebra domes for later!

After eating and getting ready, I left the room and stopped in the Uzima staircase for some more photos. The outside staircase is a great viewing spot if you don't mind the lack of chairs. You feel like you could reach out and touch the animals if you wanted to.

The AK bus was waiting for me when I got to the bus stop. We sat for about 5 minutes before taking off. It takes NO time to get from AKL to AK, I love it.

I arrived after rope drop - around 9:10am. My first stop was going to be the safari. While I was heads down speed walking for the Safari, I got distracted by Baloo and King Louie! They were doing a greeting and the line wasn't too long. Baloo was one of the characters on my list that I really wanted to get, but every time I had seen him before, the line was too long. They both were wonderful and I got to spend a couple minutes with my favorite character (other than Chip of course!)

With that detour past me, I returned to the original plan of the Safari. I grabbed a fast pass first, even though the line was only 10 minutes long. The return time was 10:15. I got in line anyway, and was on the ride very quickly. I was seated on the right side of the truck, which in my opinion is the worst side. I did manage a couple good pictures though

As you can see from the pictures, everybody was pretty active this morning. That's the best way to ride a safari!

As I was exiting, who do I see walking towards me? The freaking Dream Team - WITH VESTS! This makes the 3rd time I was passed up by mere minutes. Oh well, at least I won't have to deal with that anticipation on my next trip.

Asia and Dinoland were my next destinations. I rode Kali first since it was only a 10 minute wait. I didn't get too wet, but sitting in those wet seats gave me 100% soaked shorts. Always happens, no matter what!

In Dinoland, I rode Dinosaur. I sat next to this cute old guy whose wife doesn't like the ride. He sat there mostly expressionless the whole ride, but seemed to be really enjoying himself otherwise.

As I was walking through the dump shop, I traded Pins with 3 different CMs. I got a Kilimanjaro Safari pin, a Tiki God w/ mickey ears and Pirate Dale. I only had one trading pin left of all the ones I bought, I did much better than I thought I would seeing as it was my first time trading!

I was able to get in to the 11:30 showing of Nemo. This is definitely my favorite show in WDW now! I ended up taking LOTS of video. Unfortunately, it was just OK. It was the same cast as the day before with a few exceptions. The woman playing Dory was AWFUL! She had this baby voice going on that just irked me beyond belief. The guy playing Bloat (the puffer fish) was bad too, I couldn't understand anything he sung or said! And Crush was not the guy that I liked either. It was disappointing. However, Bruce was the same guy and his is my favorite!

After the show I was THRILLED to find the soundtrack. I had hoped I could find it, but for some reason I wasn't having any luck at other places. I guess the cart outside the show is the only place that sells it.

I am enjoying your trip report. I've been left hanging. :rotfl:

I am also going on a solo trip and have been a bit anxious whether i should try character meets or to get the Photopass thingy. I'll have to check into the budget board for a share. I haven't heard of that.

Those zebra domes look great!

And I spy a ticker for a new trip!!! :cool1:

Yep! I got a 40% code, how could I say no??

I am glad I did the photopass, but don't think it's worth it if you aren't doing a share.
