for the first time this coming week. He will be there with his wife and three children for only one day. He told me that someone told him that they could do the whole park in 1/2 day. I've already been to AK a few times and have never done it all in one day but I like to take my time and not rush. But I guess if one day is all they have, they will try to do it all.

I agree, I think the park can be done in a half a day, I did it that way. :D

Depends...from my adult (no kids) viewpoint, it can easily be done in 1/2 a day...but then we skipped all the child-oriented shows/parades, etc.

Denise < --- 1/2 a day is sufficient if you do Kali River Rapids...I've always gotten soaked to the max! ;)

We usually use that day to do Downtown Disney in the evening...:) ...

I guess it all depends on how much you like animals. Some people go in...look...and leave. Some other people go in....look....watch...look some more....lean up against the rail and watch some more...and then about an hour later move to the next exhibit...LOL. Personally, I've been to Sea World twice and have never gotten past the dolphins! I she Shamu first thing and then make a bee line for the dolphins. I could easily do just the same at AKL and spend my whole day watching some other animal.

If they are geared towards the "attractions" - then half day is fine. If they actually walk the trails, do the shows, watch the parades, eat, and shop... then no a half day is not near enough. We usually do TWO 3/4'ths days on a trip at AK. It is one of our favorite parks (we have FOUR favorite parks! :p  :teeth: )

It is an individual viewpoint. I could do AK for days on end but Epcot is definitely a half day park for me (and that includes both FW & WS).

Yes if they PLAN it right, and get there EARLY and go on Killimanjaro FIRST, and than over to Dino-Land, than back over to Asia and than thats about it!;)

I think that if you try to shove AK into half a day on your first (or only visit) you will be one of those who think it is not worth the money. I mean you rode 3 rides and you are done!

If you slow down and LOOK at the animals, tree of life etc. it would take longer than half a day. AK is not as ride driven as others.

Plus the Lion King show is one of the best in WDW and it takes a good 30 to 45 minutes.

But it is ALSO the HOTTEST Park! I cannot stand the heat for too long there, and I live in Miami!

I know what people are saying, but most of us on these boards make repeated trips to WDW so we pick and choose. I think that first time visitors need to understand that AK is not like MK. You have to work a little harder at AK.
