A CM just called me crazy...

We have our Disneymoon planned for November, but we haven't gotten any pins or codes or whatever, and we really want to cut down the price of our vacation.

I always read to at least call and ask if by chance there's something attached to your name/reservation even if you haven't gotten a pin/code.

So I talk to a CM, who doesn't even ask me for my reservation #, and she says I am "crazy" to think I could just call and ask for a discount and ends with saying I am "seriously misinformed about their discount procedures"

Not very magical nor nice to hear seeing as how we're going for our honeymoon and it'll be our first time going to WDW. :confused3

Did you think to do the survey at the end of the phone call? I hope so, because if you got treated like that, it needs to be reported!

Well I don't know about you but I would call back & ask to speak to a superivsor. By chance did you get the CM name? If so tell the supervisor the name of CM. You have a right to ask if any discount out there. You won't know until you ask. Nothing rude about that & it can't hurt. The Cm might have had a bad day but no right to take it out on you. Just my two cents. Besides it will be your honeymoon:cheer2:

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. CMs have bad days just like us... just call back and see if you get someone who is more helpful and don't let one bad experience take the magic out of your special trip!!!

I realize they have bad days like all of us do, but it's nice to know I am not overreacting or something. I was really surprised. I did do the survey at the end of the phone call.

I just finished watching a special on FLN about 3 families with a $1600 budget who go to WDW! I am sooo excited and November cannot come soon enough.

Now if I can just get a discount...

For starters, do you have AAA? Their discounts range from 10-20%

HAve you applied for the trip planning DVD? Gone to the reservations website and priced out a variety of options for your dates? Either or both may put you in the running for a PIN.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the CM.

I got a similiar response not to long ago. I called and asked about a room only discount code and the CM acted like it doesnt exist and I was rude to ask for one. After telling him I knew how things worked he came around and admitted that they are common. We actually ending up having a nice conversation and he tried to offer me some tips and other discount ideas.

I booked our package about two months ago, and the CM TOLD me to call back once in a while to see if there is a code! She even checked both my husband's name and my name (I'm registered on the website) to see if any codes were linked.

Very nice lady, and yes, did the survey at the end!

I was told last week there was no way I could just call and ask for a PIN code. This was the first time I had ever tried but they said that unless I had the exact code, they were not even allowed to look. They have become much less "friendly" over the years. I wonder if it is another case of outsourcing...

Nope, don't have AAA. Yes, I registered for both a honeymoon DVD as well as the general planning DVD with both my name/addy as well as fiance's name/addy.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks for all the advice and tips.

Hi, Monica! Congrats on your upcoming Disneymoon! :thumbsup2 I'm very sorry the CM spoke to you this way, but do your best to brush it off and move on.

The good news is you're going at a great time for discounts. For the past 2 years there have been discounts offered for your dates, but these weren't announced until mid-August. Definitely keep an eye out for email offers, but don't panic if you don't ever get a code. Just be patient (I know...It's NOT easy for me either) ;) The discounts will come - I'd be willing to bet on it.

Think about joining!! You can get a discount of anywhere from 15% off the price of your room. My calculator is upstairs, but I think it's about $200 you can save!

You can join for about $50, then have an AAA travel agent pick up your reservation and save you the money!

Nov 15-22 is my 2nd choice to go. What type of specials have they had in the past for this month?

Hello,

I called last week and asked if there were any codes for a room discount attached to my name, the girl was very pleasant and checked and asked me if I had got a pin code and I said no, I told her I go on the disboards and they said to call and inquire. No luck for me :(

Congratulations on your upcoming Marriage.

Could have asked that brutal CM if he or she could pay some of your stay, since they obviously have so much money that they have never wanted a discount.

I called about 3 weeks ago to see if I had a PIN attached to my name. The CM was extremely friendly, but I didn't have one at the time. Not 2 weeks later a postcard with a pin showed up in my mailbox (I received an email as well). Coincidence? I don't know, but if I were you I'd keep trying. Don't get discouraged :goodvibes

I'm interested in codes for early November, and when they will be announced!

I don't know a lot, but I base my info on the "Historical Information on Walt Disney World Resort Discounts" page on the Mousesavers website. (You can find a link to the page by going to the FAQ section.) While the page does list discounts that were made available for certain times of the year, the dates those discounts were released, and to whom they were available, the site does not give you every detail about the discount. It just says if it was a room-only discount, package offer, free dining, etc.

Go to mousesavers.com, look on the left for the "Frequently Asked Questions" link. On the next page, click on "Frequently Asked Questions about Walt Disney World" (link located at the top of the page). When this page loads, click on the link: "Hotels and Vacation Packages." This brings you down to a list of questions. The first question is "When will new discounts become available?" The answer to this question contains this link, "chart of release dates for the deepest discounts." Click on this and you should find yourself on the historical discounts page. :thumbsup2 Good luck!

Hi Monica,

Don't let a cranky CM lessen your faith in a discount. As long as you have a reservation, you can apply a discount should one become available. Typically, discounts are released approximately 2-3 months out. I have started a thread called November 2008 AP Discount/Code Watch and if discounts are offered, I promise to post them. There are several of us keeping our fingers crossed.

Now, just sit back and think about all the magical experiences you'll have at Disney on your honeymoon.

Has anyone ever booked a package and then received a discount code? Either by email, mail, or by calling back? It seems like once you've booked they "take you off the list"! Would definitely like to know if there is still hope?!
