A Christmas trip that was all about the Dining, But aren't they all!Updated 1/8

Oh how frustrating and disappointing your CRT meal sounded! I would have been annoyed about the check-in "rules" too. That's too bad the food was so lackluster. :sad2:

You know my DD was happy with her choice so that made it much better. I am happy to say that we did it once but we know we will never do it again unless the menu changes to better choices. I know the family next to us had some issues. Not sure what but the manager was over there a few times and was talking about sending fast passes and a GC to their resort.

It wasn't the magical meal I had envisioned but the smile on my DD's face when the princesses chatted with her made up for the cruddy food!

Alrighty well today is a sad day, DH and I may have to cancel our adult only Anniversary WDW trip. So I figured I would review one of my fav things we did at WDW. Wishes Dessert party. Now one of the reasons its my fav is because our youngest has PDD, which is a mild form of autism. Noises really set her off and fireworks were something we never really did because of it. We had talked to her about it and she said she wanted to go. We knew there was a chance that I would have to run her to the bathroom if she started to stress. She loves tink and she really wanted to see her fly so with some prepping I knew we could talk her through it.

So we got in line to check in around 8:30 and the didn't start seating until after 9pm. We got to our seat and it was PERFECT!!! We were a little in from the wall but no tables in front of us. Tink's line went right over our table!! Now DH is diabetic. I had called twice to make sure that he would have something to eat. No one said anything to us and everyone seemed to still be running around setting stuff up when everyone was being seated. So when DD said she had to use the restroom on our way out I mentioned something. I was told the manager was making DH his plate. By the time I got back it was there.

It included brownies, cheesecake and berries. The brownies DH said were good the cheesecake he said tasted funny. I tried it and it tasted really really strongly of sweetner. It definatly was not that good. Now I must say the manager was amazing. He kept checking on DH to make sure he didn't need anything else. So when he came back and noticed DH didn't really eat the cheesecake he asked if he would like to try the sorbet. DH said SURE. He chose the apple sorbet. A few minutes later this is what DH got.

LOL it was a HUGE bowl with a tiny scoop. The manager made a funny comment and then pulled this from behind his back
426.jpg
DH thought it was interesting. I thought it was good. It had pieces of apple in it. It was light and refreshing! When we left we made sure we found the manager and thanked him again for all his help!

Now for the regular desserts. I think I ate my weight in chocolate covered strawberries. They were just the yummiest thing ever!!!
422.jpg
That mango thing or whatever with the straw was blech. The chocolate cup thing was good. My kids LOVED them. The peanut butter and chocolate tart thing was good as well. They had a banana one that was good as well.

Now shortly after getting there someone knocked an entire tray of fruit all over the floor. I mean I think maybe 4 people took from it and then bam it went flying. It was cleaned up quickly but I think it frazzled the staff a little. There was a bit where nothing was getting refilled and then by the end they had a ton left over.

My DD did amazing. She stayed on Daddy's lap who kept a tight squeeze on her to keep her aware of him and to keep her calm. When she looked jumpy I would talk her through it and tell her to focus on the music. It all worked and my baby girl got to sit through fireworks. I literally cried the entire time.

So I would say for us it was well worth the price and we will more then likely do it again. We will probably make it a yearly thing!

I will also quickly review our Sunshine Season's breakfast. Now we were supposed to do Olivia's this day but again we had so many CS credits that I had no plans for and no time to fit in we canceled Olivia's and ran here instead. We made rope drop at Epcot rode Soarin and then went to eat. When we walked in it was only about 4 people in line in front of us. We were told the other counter had the same items and to move on down. So we did and so where some how 5 more people appeared in front of us. I have no clue where they ran in from. But whatever. So we got 3 adult breakfast platters which consisted of a piece of french toast, eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon and a biscut. We also got 2 kids platters which was just french toast, potatoes, and sausage. We were also able to get 2 drinks a piece. So we grabbed our drinks and got in line. Where we stood for 20 mins. For some reason the guy kept hitting weird buttons and it kept saying we didn't have the DDP or that it didn't match. SO he cleared it and kept hitting buttons and again it said it didn't match. So again he cleared it and again. So then the lady who just walked up behind us says really nasty should I go to the next line because of them. And the guy says yeah ok. And then she starts yelling at him. So finally I watch what he is hitting and he keeps hitting that we have the quick service dining plan. There is a button for QSDP, DxDDP and DDP. So I tell him what to try the other one and he does and something else pops up that I didn't see and he hits a few more buttons and it goes through.

By this time our food is cold. DH said it probably wasn't that good to begin with.

Now later on we notice that he some how took off TS credits and CS credits. So we had to go to OKW and they were able to fix it for us. She said the new system is giving them trouble. But she said the one good thing about it is that they can easily fix issues like that. Where before it was a PITB.

I really wish we could find a decent CS breakfast place in the parks. If anyone knows one please let me know!!!

thanks for the update, I wanted to do the dessert party but our son doesn't like fireworks near by...he is ok away (Like watching it from GF). I'm going to do the same and talk to him and let him know if it gets too much he and my husband can go to the bathroom. Thanks for sharing.

I'm so happy your family was able to enjoy the fireworks!!! The dessert party sounds like it was a great idea! And that scoop of apple sorbet is too funny :goodvibes

I hope you don't have to cancel your anniversary trip - maybe you would be just able to postpone it. Best wishes and luck to you!! :flower3:

Our first trip to WDW we tried watching the fireworks from Poly's beach and we had to run inside with DD. Believe it or not they seemed much louder there.I think it might be the echo and not haivng the music playing. Music for my DD has always been a form of therapy so I think the loud music being played with the fireworks covers some of the noise from them.

Thanks! I am hoping so too. I told DH that if we don't go in March then we will have to squeeze a long weekend in around Oct/Nov for food and wine. I've always wanted to go.

Dessert party is definatly great!!!

I am enjoying your reviews :) We are doing the dessert party for the first time later this month and I can't wait. Unfortunately we are also doing CRT it will be our second time we did lunch a few trips ago and I was not impressed at all but my husband want's to try it again I think we are wasting credits but will see how it goes.

Our son is AS and had extreme problems with sound and stimulation when he was younger. A speech pathologist suggested ear plugs for certain situations and they were a life saver. At one time it was the only way we could be near fireworks or many things in WDW.

We use ear plugs for some rides. She loves Dinosaur but hates the sounds from it so we use earplugs there. TT is another one we use earplugs for. My mom is a Nascar fan and goes to some races so we have also used her headphones. Or we will also give her my Ipod and turn it up a little louder then we allow her to use it so she can have something else to focus on and to drown out the sound a bit.

Thanks but after last night its not looking good :sad1: Some moron ran up on my side walk and spun around and hit DH's work van on the front drivers side. Pushed the tire back and riped out the front end. On a small street where there is a 25mph speed limit. Being that we own the business and its DH's mobile shop and he is the only installer. So now we don't know what to do.

I'm loving your reviews. We did CRT in 2009 for dinner. The menu was much better. The food wasn't fabulous, but good. The desert blew our minds away though.. chocolate buckle. That was the best thing ever. I have read they no longer have it.
We are thinking of trying breakfast next trip, if all works out right.

Hopefully you will enjoy the Dessert party as much as we did. As far as CRT goes good luck. I think the menu changed had a lot to do with it as well. I was excited to try the old menu but the new one left A LOT to be desired.

I was actually excited to try the old menu when we booked. The menu change did nothing for me. If my DD didn't have her heart set on it I probably would have done something else. We really enjoyed Akershurs breakfast when we went in 2008. My DH even talks about it being one of his favs. That chocolate buckle looked amazing. My DS was even sad that he didn't get the chocolate crown in his sundae that he had seen in all the pics. Just the regular sprinkles and chocolate syrup.

I can't think of a better way to end my day-a plate full of desserts at Disney with a great view of the castle and fireworks.

Your plate looked scrummy:cloud9: .

I actually have thought about canceling CRT, but DD just mentioned the other day that she wants to eat in the castle again. So I guess I should keep it. I guess with breakfast, it can't be too bad...can it? LOL!

I have only heard pretty much bad things about the new dinner menu though.
