I thought I would open a thread for all of our regular US/IOA forum posters from whom we have not heard since Charley hit FL. I was happy to see posts from FlyFly and I know that Barry is up in PA but we still haven't heard anything from Dark Marauder, MotherFletcher, phamton, Slacking, etc.

There is a general check-in thread open on the Community Board but we have many who are regular (many almost daily) posters here and I, like others here, am concerned about them.

When you do manage to get back online, just check-in here and let us all know how you are.

Figment- good idea!

I live in the Tampa area, where the storm was originally supposed to hit when landing on land. As we all know though, the path shifted and Tampa got off easily. I wish I could say that about the parts of FL that weren't expecting to get slammed as hard, but my thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by Charley. As for me, all I got on Friday were fairly heavy winds and rain, but far from what I could have gotten, so I'm good and am checking in.

*I feel like a traitor though, today I went to the MK! lol

Great thread! Will keep it bumped (better if all those in that region bump it instead tho).

Alive. I believe DM is as well. I didn't see Phantom at all, I'll keep an eye open for her kids.

I am fairly new here but I live about 2 miles from Universal down Kirkman. Man, was that a scary storm. We were very lucky, but it makes me sad to see all the people that weren't so lucky.

Being that we are all locals, is there anything that we can do for those that weren't as lucky as us?

Scary storm indeed! Many of us "locals " have posted on the thread titled "Sorry, Charley" - But this thread is a good idea too!

Me and mine are fine - but people just 25 or so miles away in Punta Gorda and Charlotte are not. Cape Coral is in bad shape too - no power, water has to be boiled because of contamination; many roofs either damaged or gone. I have many friends that are not doing well - but almost everybody seems to be pulling together, donating or volunteering or opening up homes to workers coming from other parts of the country. It is really inspirational to see how many people care!!

I live in Altamonte Springs, Florida (Seminole County). We just got our power back at 10:00 am today. My house is fine but 3 of my neighbors had major damage to their homes. My neighborhood was a mess but just about everyone pitched in to clean up.
School is closed until Wednesday.

In Orange County there are still 500 traffic lights out and traffic is a nightmare.

Hello friends. Well, my family and I are safe, but I had severe roof damage and my house has a couple of leaks. My parents lost 1/2 of their roof. It was a tough weekend, but what matters is that we are safe. I guess it will be a while before we get back to Universal as we have some repairs to make first. :(

thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I still don't have power and am sending this message from a relative's house, but I will update you as we get things back.....like power.

Take care!

SpideyHulk,
Glad to hear that you and yours are safe. You were one of the DISers I was thinking of too, but I wasn't sure where in FL you were and hoped the hurricane didn't affect you. So sorry to hear of all the damage to your home. Hope you all get power back really soon. Don't worry about updates, take care of your necessities. As long as we know you're OK......

We'll keep the thoughts and prayers coming.

I'm so glad to hear that you're all safe! - my thoughts and prayers stay with you all ! Hang in there . . . "this too shall pass" (though never quickly enough)!:(

Spidey and all- so glad to hear you are safe. Spidey- You are one of the ones whose name I've become familiar with and looked for.

Spideyhulk - so glad to hear you are alive and well! So sad to hear it was such a tough weekend, with much damage. It will be a tough time for you in the short future, I am afraid. But you are better off than many - even though that does not help you in your struggles!

My thoughts and prayers are with you for a quick rebuild!

Checking in! We are all safe. I had 4 uprooted trees and 8 that broke half way up. One of the trees was a gumbo limbo that my wife and I planted on our first anniversary. The tree uprooted in hurricane Andrew and we took the effort to jack it up, brace it and nurture it back to health. Well Charley not only uprooted it but it upheaved the surrounding patio, fell on and smashed my jacuzzi. I had kidded my DW, after Andrew, that the health of the tree was directly proportionate to the health of our marriage. The kids and I evacuated and she stayed home to serve those in need at our hospital. The loss of our "Anniversary tree" was hard on her and she called us in tears when she got home. As a thoughtful, kind and loving husband I told her that she could go through the house and tag what she wanted from the divorce!

Glad to hear from all those reporting in. What matters most in life are family and friends (even those we may never actually meet!). May your recovery from this be swift!

Here's hoping to hear from "the others"!

We live in Dr. Phillips (Son goes to DP High). We got tons of wind and rain, but most damage around our area were trees down and pool screens blown apart.

No damage at our house:D

Glad to hear from all of you!! Terribly sorry about the damage though.

Spidey.........so sorry to hear that. Thinking of you all and everyone who has been affected. I know I would have been very frightened if I had been over there - especially for the children and pets. Take care and hope normality as far as basic essentials returns quickly for you all.

I'm here. See my post in "sorry charley" for details & damage report. Repairs will probably be in the $20,000-$30,000 range...

Oh, DM, I'm so sorry for you. I'm heading over to the other thread to see the details. Glad you're here, though.
