A character finder utility

Well, we're over a thousand sightings entered now.

Thanks again for all of the kind words, and for all of the time that you Disers have spent in entering your sightings. Remember that if you'd rather not enter them in yourself, you may always PM me a list of your characters, along with when and where you saw them.

You guys rock!

This is such a great idea, and yet another reason to love the DIS -- people like OP who thought of such a great tool, and others willing to contribute to it.

You were a busy beaver... thanks SO MUCH for all those additions!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll get to those (I'm not in the interface now... will probably be tomorrow) right away.

Should we put distinctive character entries for the Fab characters in SW gear? They have lots of outfits as is... is this just another outfit?

I can see the case for adding them, though.

On a related tangent... is Sorceror Mickey worthy of his own entry?

I was thinking with the Sorcerer Mickey, could it be that with the fab 5 since they each have so many different outfits, could it be that when you click to open Mickey Mouse, there is a page that links seperate pages for say Sorcerer Mickey, Classic Mickey (tux), Chef Mickey, Farmer Mickey, Safari Mickey, YOMD Mickey, etc. Or would that be going too far? :upsidedow

Added a couple of missing SWW characters (note that the sand people are added under their proper name, Tusken Raider). Also added a Streetmosphere section and placed Devine in it. Please post or send other Streetmosphere suggestions to me, along with an approximate rarity level.

As for the sub character entries? Interesting idea. One that is doable, technically, but I wonder how much demand there would be for it?

The only character I see any significant requests for in a specfic outfit is Sorceror Mickey.

Most of the SWW weekend character now have at least one entry... you guys rock!

I wonder if there will be any new character present there this year?

I checked out your site and I love it....the character finder utility is great! Thanks so much for doing this....when we go in July I will be sure to post my findings for others!

Love the new sections! :thumbsup2

I may be just not seeing them, but are Santa and Mrs. Claus on there? They might fit under special events.

Out of all the retired ones listed, the ones that I really hope come back out soon are the Muppets. It would be great if Disney started putting Kermit and Miss Piggy out again, and possibly even a few others. Especially with the apparant new Muppet movie that's in the works and all the new Muppet material being produced lately, it'd be great character-wise and it would be a useful promotional tool.

Nice catch, Weatherby. We actually have these - Santa, the Easter Bunny, and the various World Showcase holiday characters - unfortunately, I inadvertently removed these when I "new and improved" the page. :headache:

This has been fixed!

Eyep, the Muppets rule. "It's time to put on makeup! It's time to dress up right!"

You're welcome! Happy to help.

Hello,

I love the character finder utility! I'd love to see a page where you can see all reports listed in the most recent order first. We are at WDW now and if I hadn't clicked through on almost every character I wouldn't have seen that Brer Rabbit and Pooh's Rabbit are now out doing occasional meets. These are both "rare" characters! I truly think adding a list of all recent reports would make the tool doubly useful.

(I tried to submit this comment through your website but it I clicked submit and it didn't do anything -- I tried both IE and Firefox).

I'm having issues with the comment submission form for the utility as well. I type up my comment and click, but nothing happens.

I notice you have entries for Fiddler Pig and Practical Pig, but not Fifer Pig. Though I don't personally recall ever meeting any of the pigs and if the other two are retired, he probably is too, he surely must have existed. "Hey, how would you kids like to meet two out of three little pigs?" I'm guessing that wouldn't go over well.

Also, is there some way of mentioning sramatically different incarnations of characters? There used to be a stage show with all of the old Disney Afternoon characters. I know Scrooge is still around and Baloo and the chipmunks are still park regulars, but they haven't been seen in their TaleSpin and Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers costumes for years. I know there are probably tons of different character costumes to document, escpecialy for Mickey and his friends, but could there somehow be two listings on one page, one for Baloo and one for TaleSpin Baloo, for example?

A listing of the latest updates would be useful. I'll be happy to add this.

Fifer Pig is indeed missing... thanks for the catch, I'll add him.

I'd love a Darth Tater pic!

Please specify if the issues are with the comment form or the character sighting entry form. You can PM me or email me at osuddeth AT gmail DOT com.

Other than that... keep the submissions coming! :)

I don't think that would make sense, though. For example, even when Chip and Dale wore their RR outfits, they still signed the same way as when they didn't. It would just be easier to add the special outfits under the regular character (I put the RR picture under Chip and Dale).

Hi all! I'm thinking of updating Marie to an "unusual" character, as opposed to "rare" - seems she has been spotted quite a bit over the past coupl eof months.

Also, I've had a sighting reported of - brace yourselves - Maleficent on two non-party days! Is that cool or what?

I have bumped White Rabbit and Rabbit to hit or miss - they have both been in heavy rotation in the Magic Kingdom of late... to the point that I'd consider marking them as regulars, but I'd like to see them stay in heavy rotation for a longer period of time before I do that.

I have added Captain Rockhopper from Disney's Club Penguin game to the list. tTme will tell if he stays, or if other characters join him.

Also, I have added the characters from Up! to the list - Carl (the old man), Russell (the boy scout), and Dug (the dog) now all appear daily at the animation Building in Hollywood Studios. I need pictures, folks! someone please share with us.

Sadly, this comes at the expense of Bolt, Rhino, and Mittens, who no longer have a regularly shceduled meet and greet. I have downgraded the three of them to unknown status. It is possible that they may appear in the various random character rotations, but it is also possible that they will be retired altogether.

Finally, I've improved my own admin interface, making it MUCH easier for me to update information. Therefore, I'll finally be getting around to the strategies for meeting everyone.

As always, thanks to those of you who have contributed (and continue to contribute) character sighting data to the site. It's great to be able to help people out when they ask, "Hey, where can I find...?" Please keep the sightings coming!

:grouphug:

We leave for disney in one week and of course the princesses and the Fab 5 are on our list of must finds, but my DD really likes Pete and Giant. Are these characters ever visable at any of the parks?
