A character finder utility

Agreed. That way, you don't have to sift through a thread.

I hope to have this ready on Monday.

Okay, I have tested the input form fairly extensively. I'll have the actual results pages up soon, but if any of you would care to start sharing your sightings and pictures now, you can get a head start here: http://www.wdwinsiders.com/add_sighting.php. We'll see how successful this is - it will rely solely on the contributions of park visitors.

Thanks again for all of your input!

Heya, Rusty! I'm pretty sure that your (very thorough) spreadhseet is the one that I found, but it wasn't on a geocities link. I'm guessing that this one has been updated more recently?

1) If there is too much traffic on geocities, you get rejected.
2) Simply try again.
3) If not, send me an email and I will reply with a copy.
4) To make things easy, just put "Reply-With-Character-Find-Spreadsheet" in the subject line.
5) Send email to therustyscupper@yahoo.com

NOTE: Please do not list your request in this posting, as I might not get back to it.

Loving the positive response!

I added an email capture field. This is optional - I would never spam anyone, but would be nice if I have a question with an entry (picture doesn't upload, etc).

Almost done with the display pages themselves.

I added a couple of "sightings" for you to help you start building. It sounds like a great idea to me. Good Luck!!!

Great idea. I started putting together a matrix of all the characters we saw in 2007 (need to update with our 2008 trip). From that I can tell it would be an undertaking, but it would be very helpful when up and running.

Nice, that was awesome. Great ideas coming here. Thanks for that. I'll better made something like that.

Have a nice day everyone. :)

I just added a series of characters... I've got a ton more to add.

One thing however, Tinker Bell's name is misspelled on your site. A lot of people forget her name is two words... Tinker Bell.

Thanks for the additions - I really appreciate it.

The Tink issue has been corrected. Not only did I incorrectly write it as one word, I typoed THAT while I was at it. :headache:

If anyone spots any other issues, please let me know!

Hey!! Good luck on your character endeavor!!! I can tell you first hand how hard it can be to keep these lists up-to-date! :teeth: I basically given up and just try to keep my character site as more of an character ID/autograph site with vague-as-I-can-be character location info (which is easier to update!). I'll be interested to see your results!

I got home today from Disney, and I tried to add some sightings from last week but I got an error message - grrrr! I'll try again! :surfweb:

Errors? Ack! If you get one, please PM it to me (I'm guessing that people don't want to read them in posts).

Thanks!

Thanks!

Ok - tried again and it worked!!! The first time I may have written the location in the comments field. Oops!!

I added Marie on there. :)

I've added as well (although, my trip was over Thanksgiving, so I don't know if that is considered too long ago). :)

Thanks again for the input - I've had several entered since I first posted the form yesterday!

I'm quite happy to have entries from Thanksgiving. With the exception of some of the rarer characters, that information is probably just fine, "datewise". The fact is that right now, I have so very many character with absolutely no sighting data yet, so please, by all means add yours!

I've added a little more text to the results pages, including a frequency label (Common, uncommon, rare, etc). I have to populate this (thanks to many of the excellent sites out there, especially wdwautographs!), so right now, everyone says "unkown". This will change. You'll also see general descriptive text appear as I add it, but for now, I wanted to get the interactive portion going. It's fun to see pics from other people's interactions!

I added the links to the front page of this thread, but in case you need them, they are:

Main character finder utility: http://www.wdwinsiders.com/character_finder.php
Submission form: http://www.wdwinsiders.com/add_sighting.php

Thanks again for all the well wishes. Please share your sightings and photos with us!

Seriously cool, but I just posted where I found Jiminy Cricket last year and I uploaded a photo. You should put some sort of desired file size info on the page. Since none was listed, I uploaded a great pic of Jiminy, assuming that you must have software to adjust the image size, but it's HUGE. Sorry.

Please, don't be sorry! I actually tested it with a 6MB image, at around 3000x2000, of Chip and Dale. Something didn't work on yours. I'll test further.

In the meantime, I'll resize the image myself and stick it back up.

Thanks for the submission!

I have added in character frequency - i.e. how common or rare they are. For the tim ebeing, I have them color-coded on the main listing page, according to their frequency.

Which looks a little strange, but makes it easy to figure out if somebody is common or rare.

Is this a good idea, do you think?
