Hey there! Happy new year! you have been busy!
I have been reading along adn just know i love you all!!!
Happy New Year Mo!!!

I've been trying to stay caught up on your TR, I haven't been doing very well these days... But I do love you lots.
HA!! I'm actually NEITHER! Avery&Todd were the dogs we had at the time I created my profile and sad to say that Todd is no longer with us, but Avery is, and she has a new brother, Jake!!
I'm Bitsy - I know, it's one of those kookie southern nicknames I was blessed with when I was born - my parents named me officially "Mary Elizabeth" but never called me that for 1 day!! Its a curse - I live with 2 names now - I go by Mary at work (b/c its easier than having to explain "Bitsy" to everyone..."you know, it's just like that spider...the itsy bitsy one?"..., but all my family and friends know me as Bitsy - and I like to think that Mary and Bitsy are 2 different people - like my more serious "work Mary" and then there's "really fun Bitsy"...
anyhoo...
so, the diabetes - yeah, it pretty much sucks, but I am familiar with it, as I had gestational diabetes with my youngest who is now almost 13 ...I do try to stay away from sugar and I count my carbs at every meal, and the walking that DH and I are doing really helps keep my numbers under control...
Here's a weird fact about me - I don't eat fruit...., yeah, I know...I haven't eaten it since I was like 2 - one day I just told my mom "no" and that was it...so that's a good thing now with the diabetes since there is so much sugar in there..
so, I will need to figure out some other way to eat the almond butter - maybe just serving size on the 3-4 crackers I can have for a snack..
and honestly, I'm really trying to cut out/down on the sugar in general...thankfully I've never been a big dessert person or sugar person in general and my soda of choice is a diet Dr. Pepper..
I enjoy seeing your every day meal pictures, and I like the idea of a paleo/pure diet, but my issue would be the carbs that you're eating - since I have to limit my intake at each meal, I get to up the veggies & meats....
But, maybe I should check out a book at the library about paleo - and what is the cookbook you got for before Christmas? The eat to live book??
I know that you plan out your meals even when you go out, so you'll appreciate that I'm already scouring the menus at WDW to plan out my meals too??!! and I'm trying to figure out how many bites of desserts I can have with all the added walking we'll be doing....I know I have to watch my sugar intake, but from what I can read, the extra walking and heat can drive sugar levels down, so if I have to have a few bites of someone's ice cream sandwich (along with some nuts/cheese stick) for a snack at WDW, then so be it!
Ok, so enough about me - thanks again for listening!!
Great TR!!!
Loved hearing the story of your name... I am sort of the same way... Parents named me Dorine - and for the most part, everyone calls me that. However, my extended family all calls me DJ (My initials before I got married) - or some variation of that... Deej, DJ Mckay (no idea why? Because it rhymes?)... And now everyone here calls me D~, because that's how I sign everything. I answer to all of them.
Wow!!! You don't eat fruit? I cannot imagine. LOL Well... Hmm what to eat your almond butter on? A spoon? I've been known to do that too.
I know you also have to watch your carbs being diabetic - and it may seem to you that I am eating a lot of carbs, but watch those cracker/grain/processed foods - they have way more carbs in one or two servings than the combo of all fruits and veggies I eat in a day. I know of many people who are totally able to control their diabetes just by diet change alone... So, I would do some research in that area too.

And I am not trying to critique the food you eat, I promise... But giving up soda (especially diet soda) was the best thing I ever did for my health... So many chemicals in the diet versions. I replaced my soda with sparkling water - and I love it. It did take some getting used to, because it seems rather flavorless - but it has the carbonation that I love and it's portable, so it was an excellent choice for me. Just food for thought.
The "It Starts With Food" book that I got before Christmas is a rigid 30 day program, which is intended to "reprogram" your body, and help a person clean up their diet - most times allowing them to find out if they have any allergies to common foods (grain, dairy, gluten, etc...). I am currently starting Day 10 of my Whole30 right now, and I am loving this. I feel great, and I didn't think it was possible to feel better than I already did. If you would like more info... You can visit
www.whole30.com. Otherwise, a couple of other books I'd recommend... "Primal Blueprint" by Mark Sisson. "Grain Brain" can't remember the author. "Eat the Yolks" by Liz Wolfe. "It Starts With Food" by Melissa and Doug Hartman <---- All great books and listed in the order I'd read them. Many of them have the same info, just presented in a different way. If you are looking for cookbooks... I recommend Well Fed and Well Fed 2... Also the Nom Nom Paleo cookbook.
Awesome about planning your meals while in WDW - it's super helpful to do that. Just knowing what is there, and what you really want to splurge on, I feel that helped me a lot by choosing ahead of time what was worth it for me. Although, once you are there, it's a different story - so be ready for that part of it too... I wasn't.
Have a great day - and I hope I didn't scare you away with my endless rambling about food and research.
Happy New Year.
I'm glad your new diet plan is working for you. You look really good in your after pictures.
We took the tree down on Sunday. It was a fake one so it didn't take long. Afterwards, my daughter and I went out thrifting. All we found was a flameglow mixing bowl and some cornell snack plates. We had fun, though.
I'm glad your day at Target went quickly. It wasn't too busy at work yesterday but it wasn't slow either. We reset the movies for the new releases. I'm trying to teach one of my co workers how to do it but he has trouble with the double packs. I have faith in him. He'll figure it out. When I left, they were working on the movie fixture in action alley.
I hope V. feels better soon.
Have a great day.
Liz
HI Liz!!! Happy New Year to you too!!!
Yes, the Whole30 is going very well for me, I love it. Granted, I am only on Day 10, that might change in a few days.
SOunds like you found some great things while you were thrifting. It seems like our stores only ever have the same stuff over and over again, so I don't look as often as I used to. However, I always have my eyes peeled for a good vintage sewing machine.
I hope your co-worker is able to catch on soon.
Thanks... Not sure how she is doing this mornign... Will write about it below.
I hope you have a great day too!
Day 9! Congrats. I need to buy more jars. I need to make my own ghee (I am not a fan of what I bought) and I need to make mayo, but all the jars I own have homemade chicken bone broth in them right now.
I have been really going through the Disney blues this week. I guess since Marissa went and then the 31 days of entering to win a WDW vacation that started January 1st has me really needing to go.
I haven't started the heavy lifting yet. I guess I am sort of scared and not sure I have the right equipment at home, but don't want to go to the gym and make a fool of myself. I guess I will have to get past that. What weights did you start out at? My dumbells only go to 15 lbs. I am thinking I am going to need heavier than that.
Have a good day. I hope V feels better soon.
Yes, seriously -make your own ghee... I really didn't like the TJ's I'd purchased, but the home-made, I totally LOVE. Big, big difference in taste. IMO.
I know the feeling, I find it hard to do much here on The Dis, because Disney just seems like a distant dream for me. So sad.
Sadly, I don't remember which weights I started at when I started lifting... I know I started LOW though... If I were to guess, I would say I started off at approx 10lbs for deadlifts and squats... Then I progressed from there. But when I first (very first) started working out, I did NO weight at all, and I couldn't even do a full squat for months. So, really take the time to work up to it. Injury will set you back so far if you work too hard. Promise?
I do all of my heavy lifting with my adjustable dumbbells... They adjust from 5lbs to 45lbs... I am getting close to the end with those, so I am not sure what I am going to do next. I have an olympic bar with weight plates, but I put that bar down back in June when I injured my back, and I haven't picked it up since.

Just afriad of injuring it again. I am sure - eventually - I will be forced to.
I will, thank you... I'll have a V update below.
Sounds like you had a nice relaxing day yesterday.
I did - it was nice. I hope you did too.
**********************************************************
So, yesterday...
V stayed home, she wasn't feeling well. At about 7:30, she came into my office while I was lifting to show me her arms... She was broken out in hives all over - bad too - arms, legs, feet, face, neck ears... The only place not broken out was her torso/back. Poor kid. I wasn't sure what it was that was causing it - obviously an allergic reaction to something. I suspected it was the antibiotic she was taking from her Staph infection - but she only had 1 dose left out of a 20 dose set, and I would think it would have presented itself before this. So, I made a Dr. appt for yesterday afternoon...
I went to work upstairs... I managed to get my next bag cut out and quilted.
Then I got ready and took V to town. Yup - it was an allergic reaction to her meds. So, the meds were stopped, and she was put on Benedryl. Thankfully school was called off today due to the weather - so she can keep taking the Benedryl (it knocks her out - cold) all day. Her hives showed no improvement as of last night before bed. Sigh. Poor kid.
After we got home, we all crashed... I was soooo tired. Josh came home from work early... So we all had a nice nap. I ddin't wake until 5:30...

So, I threw a quick dinner together... Then we hung out on our respective tablets until it was time to go get Allison.
One of my local friends posted on FB that no travel was advised in our area - so Josh took his truck to get Alli... He told me when he got home that it was a good thing he did - he said the roads were so drifted over, I never would have made it through in my edge.
But we are all home safe now and warm.
Here's a photo of my food from yesterday - since there is a little interest here about how I eat...
Meal #1 and Meal #2 were the exact same thing yesterday... It kept me satisfied all morning and it was quick to prepare. So... 3 home-made sausage balls, broccoli slaw and onion sauteed in ghee with 2 over easy eggs on top.

Dinner was chicken and roasted veggies. YUM! Not pictured... I had an apple with almond butter right before bed - I was hungry. I also want to add, Meal #1 and #2 are always eaten on "luncheon" plates, so event though it appears in pictures that I am eating a ton of food, it's really an adequate amount.
Today, I will be working out this morning.
Then I will be appliqueing all day.
When I am done with that, the girls and I are going to hang out. Gus was supposed to come over after work, since the girls are off of school - but he texted Allison last night that he didn't want to drive in the cold. So, we'll see if he changes his mind or not?
Othewise it will be a pretty boring day.
I hope you all have a wonderful one! Stay warm! Prayers and good thoughts go out to all of you!
D~
