We originally thought we would be leaving the UK in Decemeber, so didnt plan on getting back to DLP any time soon....

However mid October we found out our moving date has been put back to early January....

So today while the kids were at school we went and booked a short break....

3 nights at Sequoia Lodge, flying over to CDG....

Thought about not telling the kids till we are at the airport. Any suggestions on when/how to tell them.

Also we have looked at SL, but have never stayed there. Any feedback would be great. Previously we have stayed in Santa Fa and New York Hotels.

Cant wait to get festive with Mickey and friends, its a bonus.....
(Equally its small packable presents for X Mas as what ever we have will be taken as luggage, shipping is before Xmas)

Sorry your moving date was put back but congratulations on booking a trip to DLRP. :yay: (p.s. I know I'm being nosey but where are you moving to?)

Sequoia Lodge is a great choice for a winter break, everyone says there is a wonderful fire there. :thumbsup2

I know there are lots of ideas on the Creative Disign threads on the Dis about surprise trips - letters from characters etc./gifts bags/baskets/boxes.

Here is one I found - just an example of a letter some kids used to tell their parents they were going to Disney - it is for WDW but may be helpful to spark an idea - and most of the letters are actually designed for kids rather than parents -lol.

Have fun planning!!:goodvibes:surfweb:

We've just come back from staying at the Sequoia Lodge, and we really really enjoyed it. I think it is a beautiful hotel, with a great bar area and the room we had was on the fourth floor (4171) which wasn't too far from the lifts and a view of (a big tree!) and the Panoramagique balloon. We hadn't requested lakeside room, but did pay the little bit extra for a Montana room (ie in the main building rather then the Lodges). I have to say that all staff we encountered were friendly and helpful and I prefer SL to the Newport Bay. My only criticism is that the lighting in the room wasn't very bright, only side lamps and a Standard lamp. On the plus side the windows open as the rooms did get a bit warm!

Thanks for the info, the hotel sounds lovely really excited about the trip cant wait til Dec.:yay:
We will have a look at the ideas for telling the kids, thanks again.

Elaine we are moving to Brunei with the RAF, we are looking forward to spending a little while in the sunshine.:woohoo::yay::woohoo:
