Actually NOAA has all sorts of warnings going on right now-

Blizzard Warning
Winter Storm Warning
Coastal Flood Advisory
Special Weather Statement
Hazardous Weather Outlook
Short Term Forecast

I just hope I can drive out of here on Sunday for Great Wolf.

We're having tornado warnings here.

Stay warm and be careful on those roads!

Oh no! You stay safe too! I'll take a blizzard over a tornado (or even a hint of one) any day! What a crazy winter!!

We already have no power! Thank goodness for hulu and internet through our cell company!

Sounds like the kind of weather we get in Iowa. (Well, not the COASTAL flooding, but we DO get river flooding.)

Take care!! Hopefully, it will all be gone by Sunday!

Getting the left overs of the NorthEastern storm here in Cincinnati. No serious accumulation, just nasty roads and idiot drivers who are freaking out. To the OP who was getting Tornado warnings; hope you guys are doing ok.

Monkeybug - What area do you live in? I always worry my Mom's power will go out and we will have to go get her. I can never convince her to come to our house before a storm gets bad.....

We are in Annapolis, and our power is back now! The kids had fun roasting marshmallows in the fire and playing flashlight tag.
I hope your mom is OK, she sounds like my Grandma. A tough cookie who doesn't want to burden anyone...so we just end up worrying the whole time!
It really doesn't look that bad out there now (really pretty actually!), but I guess the Blizzard warning doesn't kick in until 10pm.
In California when we would get lots of heavy snow like this, sometimes roofs would collapse. Does that ever happen out here? Or are there maybe stricter codes about roof pitch?

Hey neighbor! Not a fun weekend ahead, but at least it's pretty out there.

Glad you got your power back. Just got off the phone with Mom - still couldn't convince her to come to our house.....

I've never heard of it happening here; however, they were discussing this issue on WTOP this afternoon. They think the high winds are going to help because it will blow it off the roof.

Sitting here in upstate NY scratching my head.. Not that I "want" a blizzard, but it certainly is strange that so far this winter we have had very, very little snow - really nothing to "talk about" since December.. Temps have been below normal (quite frequently), but that's about it.. Really weird weather so far this year..:confused3

To all who are under any kind of "warnings" - good luck; stay warm; and most importantly, stay safe!! :goodvibes

I live in Montgomery County MD and, if I remember correctly, during one of our bad winter storms in the 90s a department store roof did collapse up in Frederick, MD.....I don't believe there were any injuries or people trapped because I believe the mall was closed at the time due to the weather.
