I know, I really know!!! Guess it was trying to knock some sense into me!?!?!!! We have about four of these trees and I am about to decide that they would make great fire wood this winter!!!!

We had a black walnut tree when we lived in California, they are messy. But they make the best ice cream!! Boots, do you use the nuts for anything? It seems most folks just rake 'em up and throw them away :(

We have a wealth of acorns in our backyard, luckily I've managed to not get hit with one!

Hope your bump on the head isn't too painful!

OUCH! Wear a hard hat in the yard Boots! ;) :)

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it sounded like a SideshowBob type of tale. LOL

Ooh! Now you'll have pretty low-lights in your hair. :p

When I was working in home care, a patient gave me a little paper sack full of black walnuts from a tree in her yard. She told me to let them dry before I opened them. I left them in the car, in the sack, on the back seat of my car. The car has gray cloth seats. Now I have a huge reddish black stain on the backsest. I didn't know. :p

Are you sure that it wasn't an errant squirrel or chipmunk target practicing??;)

Pam

They are very hard to crack - my mom used to make a black walnut cake all of the time

Did you say, "The sky is falling . . . the sky is falling?" :teeth: This thread made me think of Chicken Little.

Sorry you got hit in the head! Better wear a hat from now on.

Knock on wood, I've been fortunate not to have one of those hit me on the head and we have 8 of them in our yard!!! They have hit the car, tho!!

Boots, if that tree had only one walnut on it that one walnut would somehow find a way to hit your head! ;) :teeth:
