For my 2 year old Im thinking 3 beakers of brandy and half a cup of Medised

Only kidding!
Ive taken both ours at young ages. DD was 11 months on her first trip, then again at 2,3 and this year 4. DS had his first trip at 9 months and will be 2 when we go in December.
Our DD has ALWAYS been easy to entertain and a selection of the pocket money toys from ELC keeps her busy for ages. Last year she was happy to watch the film (Jungle book 2) and I kept plenty of little snacks handy too.
My son, however is a different kettle of fish and will be a nightmare to keep amused for 9 hours. He isnt keen on toys, doesnt eat sweets and wont watch TV for more than 30 seconds. His only interest is "Lift The Flap" books, so I have supply of those. He is also partial to Wotsits, so 20 bags of those

and apart from that I dont know!
Some things Ive done in the past are wrapping up small toys and making a "lucky dip" bag. Let them choose a comic in the Duty Free for on the plane. Even though I dont allow things like Lunchables or sweets at home, I do take this sort of thing on a flight, as the "treat" factor makes them go down a storm. Take a good supply of their fave foods, drinks and their comforter (if they have one). Allow them all the stuff you dont at home (9 hours of junk wont kill them in my opinion!) and if all else fails, buckle up your child next to a stranger and go and watch the movie channel
