A $15 Challenge!

Okay......the gift has been bought! I got a bottle of local wine and locally made candy. No one else in this family exchange lives in the same area as me, so it should be both good and unique! Thanks for the suggestions of what has been popular in your exchanges over the years.

Another thought I had was a bird feeder, in case anyone else is getting suggestions for their own exchanges.

I did think about the lottery tickets but decided I'd die right there if it turned out I'd given away a million dollar ticket, so rather than ruin my day I am buying the lottery tickets for myself! :teeth:

I work for a small law firm and every year, we have a Christmas party at one of the law partner's home. I buy gifts for all of the employees because I do not like anyone to feel left out. I usually get a couple of small gifts for the two law partners and a gift for all of the associate attorneys and staff. This year, I got the associate attorneys and staff a Tervis tumbler. It is hard to explain what it is made of, but it is very durable. It is an insulated tumbler that keeps your hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for a very long time. It is almost indestructible and can be put in the dishwasher and microwave. At the store where I purchased them, it costs approximately $10 per cup. I also went to BJ's and bought a bag of mixed Hershey's miniatures and filled the cup with candy. I have a Tervis tumbler myself and love it.

Also, each Tervis tumbler has a design on it. They have about 150 colleges and universities in addition to countless other designs. They have everything from cats to beach themed designs. We have a lot of coffee drinkers in our office and I thought that it would be perfect. The website for Tervis Tumblers is www.tervis.com.

My husband just bought a wine set for his party from BJs-it came with a bottle opener, the nice wine toppers, a foil cutter, and a few other little things...

Some of our popular gifts from last year include: Baliey's Irish Cream, squish pillow, fruit cake (hidden Target card with it), and nose hair clipper. Okay the nose hair clipper was not popular but so funny to see my DD (6) expression when she opened it! Enjoy! This year the famliy has raised our limit to $30. I would much rather have it lower. You have to be so much more creative.

I need a unisex gift costing no more than $15 for an adult for a gift swap.(no gift cards allowed!) I'd love ideas!

An ofoto.com mousepad with a photo you've taken on it.

All great ideas. Now to pick one. :)

And yes, we can steal...but no one will open until after the choices have been made based on the box and wrapping. So, someone might steal a great looking gift only to find they gave up something terrific in a bad box!

I like your way of playing better than ours. We all draw numbers and then go select a gift to unwrap in order. We have 3 chocolate kisses in front of us. Then person #2 can either steal my gift or choose to unwrap another choice from the counter. Same for #3, #4, and on, and on. If your gift you unwrap is stolen you eat a kiss and either steal someone else's or choose to unwrap another one. After your three kisses are eaten, no one else can steal from you, so technically you could lose your gift three times. Sometimes no one wants to steal your gift. I think that's when hurt feelings can become involved. Even though it is anonymous, you can be sure the person who brought in the gift no one wants is feeling the sting.

Then the person who had #1 gets to steal anyone's gift in the room, even if they have no kisses.

It pays to be #1.

I used to fret about what to buy, but now I just take the easy road and get some type of liquor. Liquor is the hot item in our exchanges. It gets stolen all around the room.

Load up on a cuisine basket from trader joes.

I would get things like a simmer sauce, some traditional noodles to go with it, and some dessert item.

Or you could get cocoa/coffee with biscottis.

We play this similar game but instead of a gift exchange it's an ornament exchange. Everyone buys an ornament then pick #'s then steal the nicest one we want & so on. It's great that it's ornaments only because no need to worry what to get then also no need to worry you'll get something you don't need who can't use another nice ornament in their tree? ;)

A really popular item last year was a Leatherman Mini. They have them at Target and Walmart for a bit under $15. They attach to a key chain and are sort of like a mini swiss army knife. They have sissors, screw drivers, and other handy things like that. You just have to remember not to take it to the airport.
