Today I was cleaning out the spare room and was going through the cornor with all the previous cruise goodies......pictures, navigators, port tourism booklets, kids art creations from the kids clubs, etc. etc. etc. I have 4 Disney cruises under our belt and looked at the dates and documents.....First cruise Catagory 8 with upgrade to Catagory 4 (woo hoo!!) only $2400 FOR 2a2c. Then another one for about the same price 1/2002. Then, the 3 day Wonder for $99 A PERSON! In Jan 2002 after 9/11 even Disney was slow so they gave out these $99 coupons to hopefully fill ships in hurricane season. Well, we of course went, and spent under $500 for our cruise for 4. I look at today's prices and all I can say is WOW. We were very fortunate at that time.! Our first cruise was a 4 day Wonder in Catagory 8 but haven't found those doc's yet. God willing, we will be on the Eastbound repo. (This one was a bit more than $99! :rotfl2: )

Hello Niagara2, what do you mean, god willing, you'll be on the eastbound repo? Where have you been? We've been through 2 threads already and have been talking since May 5th about this cruise. You have a lot of catching up to do!! Check out our thread on the cruise meets board and sign up for our newsletter...Mark

Niagara...we were among those who were able to take advantage of the $99 cruise deal. And I have all my docs, navs, etc. in a scrapbook and look at them occassionally.

We cruised with our dear friends, Barb and Tony; and a couple we met on our January cruise(thus the $99 deal), Kathy and Alex, who, by the way, had a "little souvenier" 9 months later.....

Sometimes it makes you feel good to "remember when"......

I loved our $99 cruise--this was the one that I convinced my whole family to travel with me (of course, they paid more). We had done a January 2002 cruise in a Cat 6 for 2 adults, 1 child for $2300 including insurance.

4formickey......this $99 deal was not offered to everyone.

I believe it was offered to 4 night Wonder cruisers(not sure about this) and those of us on 7 night Magic cruises, who cruised in January of 2002. I don't remember all the details, but I think we had to use the vouchers within the year.

So, if you weren't on a January 2002, 7 night(and maybe 4 night) cruise, you would not have been involved.

I did get a deal from dcl once. Last year our 7 day cruise was cut short by 1 day, so we was given 50% off our next cruise. :cool1:

Hey Phyllis,

That Jan. cruise was great, and the $99.00 cruise was just a great, will add a week at WL after the cruise.

The deal was the cruise had to start and end with in Jan 2002 on the 7 day and 4 day cruise, and you got the same stateroom Cat. for $99.00 for the 3 day cruise. Hard to be a Cat. 7 for $138.00 (after taxes were added) per person. I keep looking for a deal like that again.

Take Care Phyllis,
John & Mom

:sunny: I too took advantage of the $99 dollar deal. We took our first cruise in Jan 02 (4 night) we paid $965 dollars for two adults in a cat 6
and took our $99 cruise in October of 2002, cat 6 again...total bill was less than $600!

Hey Big John.....

I couldn't remember all the details....shoot, I can't remember what happened yesterday....lol

It was a great deal, but I feel we won't see anything like that again. Considering the circumstances that we heard brought it on, God willing it will never be needed again.

Has everyone gone to the Orlando newspaper and read the article?? If you haven't look for my post about Article in Orlando Sentinal today....and the article has been posted there as well as in the newspaper.....

John...send me an email.....Natsmom125@aol.com....

Well, we went this past January and the inside lower cabins were $199. We uped it to $299 for the window. I thought it was a great price for the 4 night cruise! Wish I was around Disney cruises when it was $99. Too bad my cruise plans for this Dec are running above $4000. :confused3

sigh.....

In 1999 we went on our honeymoon under the CM discount. Deck 7 w/verandah...$209 TOTAL for the two of us.

Ahhhhhh. I'll spend more than that on bottled water & souveniers this year!

Yes, prices were quite cheap immediately after 9/11.

We were on a 4 day in October just after 9/11. Ship sailed only 3/4 full (if that). It was the first time I ever saw Disney offering special deals for booking while on board. At that time, we singed up for the very first 7-day Western crusie in a Cat 6 for less than the $799 Fall Fantisy Price they always have (even back then) for Cat 12 (of course back then, it was $799 for Cat 12 for ANY sail date between the first of September and mid Nov).

The down side was that we had to cancel the cruise because DW was going to be 1 week "too" pregnant to go.
