Someone clue me in. How did some of you guys get a $99 October cruise special? What a deal...I want in for next year...what do I do???

Sorry, zbuddy, that was a one-time deal offered for those who cruised on 4- or 7-night cruises in JANUARY of this year. It was in response to the huge drop in travel after 9/11.

There are no other $99 cruises offered.

Well, now I don't feel so "left out." That's great for DCL to offer that!

I hope everyone sailing on the $99 deal doesn't talk about it during the cruise to those who put out big bucks! I just think it might make some people feel bad about spending a small fortune compared to someone getting the same thing for $99. I know that happens frequently on airlines, but a cruise is different because it isn't just "getting there," it's their vacation. JMHO. ;)

Normally I would be in complete agrreement with you, taswira. I think it's tacky to brag about what you've paid for things.
But in this case I think those $99 cruisers earned the right to brag. They took cruises at a time when lots of folks opted out of travel and now get a great bonus. (Let's not forget they also paid for a cruise in January.)
Anyway, that's just my opinion :) (And ya know what they say about them;)

You are right. But a lot of cruisers maybe never discovered cruising or couldn't afford it until now, or maybe they never knew about the $99 offer. And although the $99 cruisers did pay for their cruise, they did also take that cruise so they got what they paid for. Hey, I'm not debating the issue, because you have a good point. I am just not one to rub it in to anyone about what they missed out on - - UNLESS it is someone who DID know about it and decided to pass. Then they certainly deserve to be faced with bragging! :jester: As a TA I can get deeply discounted cruises, but when I do, the "agreement" states that I am not supposed to let anyone onboard know what I paid. I guess I'm just thinking of it the same way for the same reasons. Sorry. ;)

I sure see both sides to the story. I was on the Disney Cruise in Jan. I also booked that cruise 2 weeks after 9/11.When I got the $99 vouchers I really didnt think it was real. Had to pay up front was still not sure if it was real for another 8 months. Until I got the DOCS in the mail. I guess my point being I feel no need to brag. Iam just grateful that I was in the right place at the right time. With those $99 vouchers I was able to do something I would never been able to do I get to take my 3 sisters on a cruise. THANKS DISNEY CRUISE LINE for making that possiable!!! DISNEY CRUISE LINE ROCKS!!!!:jester: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:

Well if we were to get this for bravery.........Then I should get a truck load of vouchers. We sailed with DCL 2 weeks after 9/11 and were not included in the dates that could be backed out of with DCL without Penalty. Do you know how difficult it was to get my kids on a plane flying across the country? As much as we all wanted to go, it was very very very difficult. And to the Poor Middle Eastern gentleman on our Midnight flight from Seattle, I'm sorry if you saw MORTAL FEAR in my face everytime that I looked your way.

I do have to say that DCL does a POOR job of keeping track of Castaway CLUB members and offering the specials intended. I finally called to get our number the other day. We got our rebooking offer in the mail the day that it expired. Didn't give us any time to think about it or plan for it and we had to let it lapse. I know the other cruise lines offer ongoing deals to past cruisers, I think that DCL could make improvements with it.

It is also important to realize that there were NO Castaway Club offers during the month of January 2001. The $99 voucher deal replaced any and all rebooking deals that are normally offered during a Disney cruise.
