No - no allergy to eggs.. And I'm fine now - was just sick for 24 hours.. I'm going to give the doctor a call today and let her know what happened and probably hold off on getting the pnuemonia shot.. Meds and I just don't mix - LOL.. Good thing I'm not a "junkie" - probably wouldn't be any fun at all for me.. :teeth:

I don't have the proper spelling here but some people are sensitive to the Thimerisol in the flu shot (I believe it is a preservative).

Usually doc's are supposed to be doing an evaluation while they talk to you, and decide if they think you should be on something like that. Sounds like you don't think she did, and if so, she may not be a doc you should go back to.

My DD gets sick from the fly shot and now refuses to get it. I know that she doesn't get as sick as she would from the flu, but it's a certain thing. It's happened a few times now. I tried to talk her into getting it since we're going to WDW next month, but she's not going to.

I tent to have to opposite reaction to many medications than most people have. If it makes other people hyper, I get sleepy and visa versa. I can't take non-drowsy Dramamine because it knocks me out for a full 24 hours (my DH and my DD are the same way).

I am very resistant to drugs, maybe that's why Lexapro doesn't bother me.

C.Ann, I sure hope you are feeling better soon. And I agree with your choice.

Regarding being very sensitive to things (drugs) or not being very sensitive to drug, I have been reading in several of my magazines this month that they are developing a test that will now show whether you are an "ultra" metabolizer, and normal metabolizer, or a slow metabolizer of medications. There are certain liver enzymes that break down about 20% of the most common drugs on the market. People who are ultra metabolizers rarely get any side effects nor do they get full benefits of drugs, normal metabolizers are the ones we all want to be, and poor metabolizers are like me and C.Ann--everything makes us sick and we really only need smaller amounts of the drugs than most people and they are still effective.

They've predicted that this test can will soon be done in your GP's office (it's a one-time test since the state of your metabolism of drugs is genetic) and then the doctors will be able to fine-tune dosages based on your test results.

I can't wait.

I have no problem with the flu shots and am sensitive to at least some preservatives (had to be careful when I wore contacts). My DD also seems sensitive to preservatives--I wonder if that's her problem with the flu shot.

Probably--since the flu shot is not a drug, it is probably the preservative and the solution it is in.
