................

Hope you feel better soon :grouphug: . I wouldn't take the Lexapro either, and I wouldn't let my doc talk me into it if I truly felt I didn't need it!

Gosh what a rough day! Have you ever had a reaction to the flu shot like this? Or do you think it was the Lexapro? Hope you feel better really soon....

:grouphug: Oh, C. Ann, I hope you feel better quickly!!!! :flower2:

YIKES! I'm sorry you are feeling unwell. I hope you are 100% better very soon.

Probably sound a little like Nancy Kerrigan when she got whacked in the knee with that metal bar, don't I? ;) But I do have to wonder "why".. :confused3

I've always been very drug sensitive - very, very few things I can take without some sort of wild, weird reaction - and I specifically told my new doctor this yesterday morning when I went in for my visit.. When I asked about the flu and pnuemonia shot, she assured me there would be NO problems - but just to be safe, she'd give me the flu shot yesterday and have me come back next Friday for the pnuemonia shot.. She also felt the need to prescribe Lexapro - after she heard what my past year has been like - and although I assured her that I was fine, not depressed, not having trouble sleeping, etc., she "really really" thought I should give it a try anyhow - "just in case".. She gave me some samples (10 mg) and told me to cut them in half and start taking them today..

I came home from getting the shot and was fine for exactly 3 hours - then my stomach started feeling a little queasy.. Then it started to feel REALLY queasy.. Then I started heaving.. Next came the diarrhea.. After that I felt like I was going to pass out.. Then came the teeth-chattering chills and a fever.. Next came the aches and pains.. Then finally, EVERYTHING hurt - even my EYEBALLS!!! It's been 24 hours of plain misery.. Today is my DH's birthday too and it's hard enough missing him, without feeling sick to boot..

I will not be starting that Lexapro (which I don't need or want anyhow) and I will not be getting a pnuemonia shot next Friday.. I should have known better.. If there's a reaction to be had, I'm going to have it..

I think I'd be much better off just "being sick" with "whatever" rather than trying to prevent it or cure it..

Okay..my rant is over.. Back to the holiday cheer.. :flower:

C. Ann--I agree--don't take the Lexapro. I am also very susceptible to size effects and those drugs (Lexapro, Prozac, Zoloft, etc) will make you feel horrible. Who needs it?

Yuck! Sorry you're feeling lousy. I know what you mean about reactions though. Had the flu shot once. Got the flu a few days later. Not just a few aches and pains, the who miserable mess.

Take care and do what YOU think is right for your body. :grouphug:

Interesting, this is the first year I didn't have any reaction to the flu shot. I realize you are miserable, but if you are "sick" for a couple days while your immune system builds defense to the real "flu", isn't it still better than catching the "real" flu? The virus in flu shots is dead virus, imagine how sick you would be if you caught a live virus. I think you should call your Doctor on Monday, and tell her about your reaction...there may be another problem causing that severe a reaction. I hope you feel better soon.

Sorry you are not feeling well. I can't take medicine either without weird side effects. I took zithromax over thanksgiving and on the sixth day I lost my sense of taste. It was gone for 3 days. You just don't hear about some side effects until they hit you. I don't even take tylenol.

Well - just assume that this was milder than any flu that you would have gotten! (hah - that's "Miss Goody Two-Shoes" talking - just trying to put this in a good light!)

Hope you're feeling better soon - hang in there.

I hope you feel better C.Ann

C.Ann, this describes me to a T. I recently had a weird reaction that even the pharmacists said wasn't possible. I found out otherwise when I went online to read about the med I was taking.....

I hope you feel better VERY soon. It sucks to be so drug sensitive doesn't it? It's like we need to take half or sometimes LESS than half of the prescibed dosage.

First I hope you are feeling better
and any doctor who would push a med on someone who really doesn't need it
makes me a little worried
have you thought that maybe she isn't the right DR for you??

A real coincidence for me, was that I was supposed to get my flu shot when I went for my check up, but they didn't have enough, so I had to come back. Well the day after my checkup, I was a mess. Sick sick sick. If I had gotten my flu shot, guess what I would have blamed my illness on..yep, the ful shot. I'm so glad I wasn't able to get it that day. You really need to call and tell the doc about your reaction..perhaps you were allergic to something in the vaccine, since it's a dead vaccine, and you shouldn't have gotten the flu from it.
As for the other meds..that's your call, if you don't feel you are depressed at all. Some people (after 10 days) can't believe the difference in themselves. Usually doc's are supposed to be doing an evaluation while they talk to you, and decide if they think you should be on something like that. Sounds like you don't think she did, and if so, she may not be a doc you should go back to.

Very seldom does the flu shot make someone this sick, so I'd guess you are allergic to one or more of the components. Yike! it sounds awful. I sympathize with you--I'm allergic to a lot of meds, including Motrin, so I'm pretty gun-shy unless I know the drug won't kill me.Hope you feel better soon

Are you allergic to eggs? A flu shot is not a "drug", it's a dead virus to help your body build immunity, but they virus is grown in chicken eggs and if you have this allergy (your doctor should have asked) it can be very dangerous.
