Everyone is different...for us, we did buses for the first trip, I can say this for my entire family, NEVER EVER AGAIN! We always rent cars. I can't imagine any more than 2 adults in one room, I don't care what resort your at, I have stayed all levels of Disney, the rooms are not that much bigger at the deluxes or mods and $300-$500 per night for a "Deluxe" Disney hotel is almost funny! I know location and amenities play a factor in the price but haven't seen too many included amenities @ the deluxes that stand out. Location does play a factor but $300-$500 per night???????? We love our dining, and we like Disney....There are 5 of us going for 13 days. We did get free dining for September and the only deluxe hotel that seems worth it to us is BC, YC, because of the location and proximity of restaurants via boat/epcot/boardwalk. SOOOOOOO, I priced it out with the FD at the BC and YC for 5 adults, 3 rooms would b very expensive so I priced out 2 rooms with just the required 2 day base ticket for each ( in the past we have gotten burned by buying hoppers and more days than we ever used so we like to
upgrade tickets as we go so we don't spend wasted money on tickets that we don't use). We priced upgrading from FD to DLX dining due to signature dining nightly, breakfast in am and snacks for lunch....we all expected the cost to be "higher" due to our choice of hotel and
upgrading to DLX dining. The cost for the 2 rooms was absolutely astonishing so for fun I priced
all 5 of us in one YC room, $9000.00+. Are you freaking kidding me, 5 of us in one room for
$9000.00? The GF was $11,000 come on people!!!!!!

We calculated paying OOP as if we were on the DLX dining plan, 5 adults, California Grill, Yaghtsman Steakhouse, Narcoosees, Artist Point, Fultons etc....$100 per person per night just for
dinner...beverage, app, entree, dessert=$6,000 and this does not include 2 snacks per person a
day and a full breakfast per person per day, that's an additional $8 per day per person for snacks and $25-$30 per person per day for breakfast x12 days=$8000 NOT INCLUDING TICKETS OR HOTEL!!!!!!
So, we booked FD @ ASSp for 4 adults upgrading to DLX dining, a
3 day park passes for 13 days AND booked hubby @ the campsite on the PREMIUM PACKAGE getting he and my father 12 days private bass fishing excursions in Disney for 6 hours a day plus hubby gets 3 meals a day and 2 snacks a day plus park tickets. We rented a 6 bedroom/5.5 bath home 2 miles from Disney with our own private hot tub and covered heated in ground pool and 7flat screen TV's and 3 bathrooms have corner jacuzzi tubs!!!! The total price for everything including full size rental car and 5 free round trip flights ( thanks to SW Visa 50,000 points offer)
Total is $7300!!!!!!!!! ( we did get $881 in free gas from purchasing $6890 in Disney gift cards from our Giant Eagle grocery store to pay for Disney so I did deduct that from the total, we are already on our 7th free tank of gas thanks to this promotion from Giant Eagle!!). Yes, we won't b using the campsite or the Allstar Sports hotel but we paid for it and it's our choice.

I'm confused ... you booked ASSp and the campsite ... but you're staying offsite? :confused3

I'm confused too!!! You booked on property to get the perks of packages and such from staying on property but won't be staying in those rooms? And staying off site?

I one thing I did understand about this post was $300-$500 a night is too much for a disney hotel!!!!

I'M IN TOTAL AGREEMENT!!!!

YOU WILL NEVER FIND ME PAYING THOSE PRICES, AND WHETHER I CAN AFFORD IT OR NOT IS NOT THE POINT....

ITS ABOUT VALUE FOR YOUR DOLLAR...AND TO ME ( MY OPINION ) I DON'T SEE IT!!!

Why not just upgrade 1 ticket to Ap and buy the TIW card that would probably save you more than paying for a room and upgrading to DXDP. I think the maids are going to notice nobody is staying in the room.

Congratulations on working out a great deal! I agree that Free Dining is not a great way to go with Deluxe. We usually do room only and buy tickets OOP. Even with that the Disney Tickets are getting pricey. 3 children are now Disney Adults. Recently, heard about YES program and it sounds amazing. We can get 8 day Park Hoppers with Water Fun and More for Less than a 2 Day Base Ticket from WDW Travel--Not Exaggerating. In addition, I could get tickets for 3 Summers in a Row through YES for less than a WDW annual pass (We go on 2 trips less than 12 months apart). After this realization, I get exactly what you are saying. Only wish I found out sooner. Enjoy your vacation!!

I guess some people don't get around much, we just stayed in the tiniest room that should be legal for human occupation for over $300/nt. in VA Beach. Talk about a complete ripoff.

your point about getting around much is moot...there is no correlation between getting around and overpaying for hotels

I can spend under $300/night anywhere in the world and have comfortable accommodations.

further, you admit to getting ripped off... I feel sorry for you.:confused3

Yes it sounds like they booked ASSp to get the free dining credits and the campsite to get the fishing excursions, etc...but they will not be using the accommodations.

Not sure what happens when the room sits empty the entire time...if Disney tries to contact you?

:confused3 You purchased on site hotel, a camp site & off site?? So confused. After having stayed off site, value & moderate we have finally decided to stay deluxe. I believe the amenities are worth the cost. They offer a lot if you are planning on spending time at your resort. I hate all the tour groups at the value resorts and will NEVER stay there again. I don't want to have to rent a car. Anyhow, As for the price someone chooses to pay for their Disney trip....to each their own.

certainly not worth ANY cost...if the cost is reasonable , I have no problems with that!

I agree 100% on the value resorts...if I can't stay at the deluxe I have no interest... I am about to stay offsite for first time only because I got the place for FREE ( a friend has a timeshare)

BUT you will never find me paying these ridiculous rates for magic kingdom views , lagoon views and savannah views... or even concierge... etc etc... the prices are really out of control in my opinion.

now if you make over a million dollars a year, go for it...thats a different story but I'd bet 95% of us here aren't in that income bracket...

:thumbsup2 How someone chooses to vacation and how much they pay is their business.

Every now and then here( especially on the Budget Board) you get a series of threads that complain about the deluxe resorts and that slam those who stay in them. I don't get offended by them. Apparently, some don't have much else to do. Myself, I'm too busy working and having a life to tell others how to spend their money.:)

And one of my favorite trips is the one where we had a Club Level, Lagoon view at the Poly. Worth every single penny. I think when you've been to WDW several times, you don't feel the need to spend every waking moment in a park. Watching Wishes every night from our own balcony was awesome.

We just don't use the amenities of what Disney calls deluxe resorts, except signature dining... The free gas promotion did help with our decision, $881 off the bill. We only need one person to book the Premium package and that one person can invite 4 more people to fish on the private pontoon with private guide and for 6 hours everyday,,yes they love to fish that much, apparently Florida's large mouth bass are monsters compared to Pittsburgh's bass! it's cheaper to do what I did than stay where we would like too in 3 rooms on the boardwalk and get everything we wanted. We did this last year too! $7300 including the 6 bedroom/5.5 bath house with private pool/hot tub/game room/2car garage is $700 less what we would pay for just food if we ate like we were on DLX Dining and paying OOP for it, my way we are getting more Premium meal credits, 10 days of fishing, park tickets, 6 refillable mugs, (booked hubby's Premium campsite 2 separate reservations because your still permitted unlimited excursions/activities on the day of check out so no need paying for 2 extra days when u book4 days u get the 5th day free of fishing and your dining credits are good till 12 am so I booked 2- 4 day premium packages and they get 10 days of fishing! We do use Valet at every hotel so driving is so easy. My brother uses a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy so Valet is free but of course we tip. We plan our dining around the parks we are going...we valet at GF dine there at GF for breakfast go to MK via monorail and pick up our car via Valet when we are done..etc..we do this @ YC or BC for epcot and HS days....housekeeping never said a word last year, easy job for them and we still gave them a tip at the end, kind of hush money lol.

Sheesh, judgmental much? That's fine if you don't want to pay those prices but there are plenty of us here who can afford it. Me personally, I don't think a vacation can be very enjoyable when you're counting pennies the whole time. There's frugal, and then there's flat out cheap.

I never slammed anyone. Great for u, I've stayed deluxe before and if u read the post we wanted to stay at the YC or BC but not for $9000 and 5 adults in a room....not bashing anyone just OM g to the prices. $11,000 for 5 adults in a standard GF room, enough said there, I just would never do it like that, nor my family. Maybe if I was 18 again, lol. I can see my son doing this when he turns 21, lol.

Why are people being mean and taking offense, I never bashed anyone or told anyone how to vacation, I better re read my own post.

I can afford it, I'm not paying it! That is not the issue at all. If u can afford it and want to pay it, yippee! Why r u so offended?
