9 yr old daughter "over" Princesses?

8 y/o DGD totally not interested in Princesses. 5 y/o still crazy about Sophia the First, but her favorite is OLAF!

My 10 yr old DD has not been into the princesses or most of the characters our last few trips. The exception is for the characters in a special outfit, Minnie in her snow suit in Alaska or Mickey in his Pilgrim suit at Thanksgiving, she still wants pics with them. What really surprised me was when we were on the Magic last summer, on the last night of the cruise at the See You Real Soon party, the performers came out in their costumes from all of the stage shows and she got really into that. She wanted to meet them all and take pics with them. Only cruise I have been on that they did that.

Sophia was on the Dream in May and I've seen reports of her being at Disney Junior character breakfasts.

Yep there is Sophia and Doc McStuffins (sp?) on the Magic and the Wonder - Check the old navigators to see if they appear. They usually are one or two times in the am on a 7 day from my experience.

Start by looking at Day 2 in the Schedule on character row. I saw a few from December 2015 that had both on the Dream for the 4 day sailings

My DD is 9 and we just got off the Dream this week. She isn't really into Princesses anymore, but she LOVED the Bibbidi Boutique on board. We brought our own fancy dress, and she did the crown package. I was actually surprised at how much she enjoyed it!

I was also curious about this. You read my mind! I could see DD #1 liking BBB, but wasn't sure about the dress. I will definitely bring a fancy dress! Thanks!

If she's starting to get over it maybe don't bother with a princess dress, boutique or something like that, but she could pick her favorite character and come up with a "Disney bounding" outfit (many ideas on Pinterest).

You could also do mouse ears inspired by different characters or cute tshirts that are less blatantly little kid Disney (oh yeah apparel and happily ever tees are some).

Another idea-- My nine year old niece and I did a Mickey tye dye art project and she wore it at Disneyland. (See Pinterest or google for directions)

I'd still do the meet and greet too. Even if it's for you

My daughter is also 9. She has been to Disney World at least once a year for her entire life, so she has met a LOT of characters. Princesses have never really been her favorite. I think when she was 4 or 5 she cried and refused to see them at all. She does like meeting them with their princes because they are usually very funny, but that is rare. The only princess she met on our cruise in December was Belle and that is only because she knows Belle is my favorite so she did it for me. For our upcoming cruise, I figured I would get tickets for the princess meet and greet and let her decide at that time if it's something she wants to do or not. That way she has the choice. On the cruise, she did really love all of the characters in their pirate outfits on pirate night. She also liked doing the pirate make over at BBB.

Our kids have never wanted to interact with characters. Only interested in food at character meals. Any pictures taken with characters has always been forced by me. Never taken any character photos on dcl at all! So you were lucky to get some years! I have scheduled a meet with the frozen characters on our next cruise just to annoy them. Could be our first picture with characters on dcl ever. They do not like character "opportunities" but they REALLY do not like frozen.

I bet DD will do 1 or 2 with her younger sister, and I'd be happy with that. Even 1 picture! It would be nice to have the memory for the girls!
