9 Days Poly CL DxDP...Too Much Food???...Too Much Fun!!!...1600 Pictures

Hi Heather!!! We're back from our CL stay and I'm having serious withdrawals! :( I got up early too one morning and got some cool shots, but it was really humid and some of them came out spooky!!! While I was waiting for the sun to come up on the beach they were running a cue to cue for the lights on the castle during Summer Nightastic fireworks. It was fun to watch (I'm a theatre director) someone ELSE doing a cue to cue for a change - LOL! Anyway, I totally agree with you about how nice it is to walk around with only the ducks for company! DD and DH had no idea I was out and about with cameras in hand! :lmao:

Welcome back to the real world! It's such a let down when you have to leave WDW...maybe you can start planning another trip;) Glad you got the opportunity to get up early one morning...would love to see some of your "haunted" shots:scared1: Did the humidity make the pictures look like it was foggy? Okay...so are you going to do a TR...or post some pics? Dying to find out how you liked everything....Poly, room, CL, food, view:woohoo:

Gorgeous photos Heather on another of your wonderful early morning walks!

As someone who is known to get up early and do a solo walk myself, just wondering what time you were generally getting up in the morning to stroll and take your photos. I am assuming sometime btwn 6:30-7am?

And congrats on making the decision on the Beach Club. I think you will really like it. But if you are anything like me, it will only be a close 2nd to the Poly.

Did you decide on whether you are going to do a split stay or not?

We are just going to wing it on the pictures. Since we are doing a Wishes (or Summer Nightastic) fireworks cruise I didn't want to pay for the photopass session but it does sound fun.

We use the PhotoPass Photogs right at the park. They take several shots and even will take pix with your camera. As soon as I figure it out I'll post a pix.

You are right...I tried to be out of the door by 6:30am...we were usually trying to have breakfast by 7:15 in order to get to rope drop.

I'm excited about the BC, but at the same time a little hesitant. Oh well...we like to try new resorts, so why not? We actually decided to stay the first night at the Dolphin. We won't be getting there until late Friday evening, and I can get a great teacher discount there. On Saturday morning, we will head over to the BC bright and early....and most likely do the 2 Bedroom Villa for 7 days....maybe more;) On our last trip, I origianlly booked AKL first, then booked Poly GV, then Poly GV CL, then finally....Poly TPV CL....so who really knows what will happen by June! :rotfl: DH tells me that I'm the 'Queen of Upgrades'....I did promise him on this trip that I would curve my spending habits.

Well...I said I was going to do Star Wars, but decided to do the pool first. DD4, DS3 and I stayed back at the pool while the others went to Star Wars Weekend at DHS.

After we ate breakfast in the CL lounge, we headed to the pool. As you can tell....the rain is coming our way! We have been super fortunate this week...barely any rain whatsoever.

Now...before I get too far into this installment, let me warn you that my opinion will be stated...I'm not trying to offend anyone, just making observations;)

We got out to the pool really early...probably around 9am. Notice that there are not many people at all!! One great thing about the Poly Pool is the swallow area for the little ones AND I could sit in the edge of the water and watch them play while not getting hot.

I was shocked to see how many tables were already reserved (towels laid across the chairs & on table). Of course, I was anxious to see how many of these reserved tables were actually going to be "used".

DSC_1785.jpg

The reason I say "used" is because previously in the week, we noticed that many tables had "stuff" on them, but people actually didn't sit there...guess it's just a place to lay their belongings :confused3 Surprisingly enough, on this Saturday, the pool was fairly empty. The first Saturday and Sunday that we were there, the pool was completely packed out!!! It was scary...really!

Notice the life jackets?? We thought about bringing our own, but found out before our trip that we could "check out" life jackets at the marina. Just give them your room key and sign your name...very simple! It was really convenient for our family.

Check out the dark sky!!! I knew it was going to rain, but couldn't complain because of the great weather we had all week.

Volcano Slide - Kids loved it!! Okay, let me rephrase that...DS9 & DD4 loved it! DS3 went down it once and didn't hate it, but wanted one of us to go down with him...of course that's against the rules. All of us adults did try it out! Lots of fun!

Hot Tub - There isn't one!!! Honestly, this doesn't bother us at all. I know that some people have big hang ups with this, but not a big deal to us. This certainly wouldn't deter us from making another ressie here.

Pool Bar - Great!! if you like strong drinks...be warned! The drinks aren't for the faint of heart;) And they aren't cheap.

Underwater Music - This is really cool. DS9 thought this was the coolest thing ever...stick your head under water and there's music!

Splash Area - Alright....here is a small complaint...nothing major, and nothing that would stop me from coming back to the Poly.

DSC_1790.jpg

The "splash area" for the smaller children is SMALL! Not much to it at all. DS3 went over there and after a couple of minutes he was bored with it.

DSC_1789.jpg

I wasn't impressed with this area...it seems that Disney would put a little more thought into the "splash section" since the pool has such a great theme! JMO...

Okay...this is the sign that DH and I got a kick out of.....read below...."Bathing Load: 110 Persons":rotfl:

Like I said earlier, the previous Saturday and Sunday were so packed, you really couldn't swim. There were certainly more than 110 people in the pool. I knew before I went that the pool could get crowded, but I didn't expect the masses that fell upon the Poly on May 22nd and May 23rd. The Poly needs to do something about this.

Okay....enough negative...you're going to think I hate the Poly and that is soooooooo not the case...I LOVE it. Here's a positive...nothing like sitting in the pool and looking at the castle and the GF, watching the boats go back and forth to the MK....GREAT!

Notice the dark sky?? They closed the pool down for a while when it started to thunder. So, needless to say, it was time to head for the CL lounge for a snack.

When we got back to the room, I looked out of the door and this is what I saw....

It was kinda scary looking! Glad it was time for lunch and a nap!

Up next....Star Wars....and that's a promise;)

Absolutely no charge at all! I think they told my husband that if they were not returned, they would charge your room $40...or something like that. It was sooooo nice!! Since we had a patio, we didn't put them outside to dry...didn't want anyone to take them;) Just put them in the bathtub. And they have plenty of sizes, too.

Have a great trip!!!

Thank You for the info it was very helpful one less thing to pack. your trip sounded amazing we cant wait for ours

We really did have a GREAT trip...and wonderful to have the grandparents along. I think they had more fun than the kids;) Where are y'all staying for your trip?

Your report is just great! I have really enjoyed following along with you. It sounds like your trip was wonderful.
I am so excited that you'll be staying at the BCV for your next trip!!!! We really love it there. The rooms are beautiful, so bright and sunny. The walk to Epcot is very convenient, too, especially if you like to eat dinner at the WS. When you get closer to your trip, I can definitely help with some tips about the BC if you are interested. We have a fairly large family with small children, too.

Ooooh look at that ominous sky!

Love the picture of your little bathing beauty in her life jacket! :)

Heck yes those drinks at the pool bar are strong! Why do you think I can't wait to get back there? :woohoo: Though, as you say, it is difficult to find a place to sit and relax with our drinks when every table has been "reserved"... :rolleyes1

I'm glad you're enjoying the TR...has been lots of fun to do. I'm already excited about getting up early at the BC and roaming around....love the early morning shots. This past trip we had around 1600 pictures....I can already forsee that there will be more pictures on this trip!!:rotfl: And, would love some great pointers from previous BC goers like yourself!!! I think the villa will be great for the 7 of us. It will give us a place to chill out together (den area). And when the 4 year old is napping, I will have somewhere to go.

The Lapu Lapu I had at the pool was so strong I had to take it back:scared1: I needed to be coherent while watching the 2 little ones. They should have a warning sign on those things!

Oooh, a lapu lapu? Okay, that's a different story altogether! DH had one a couple years back and while I didn't get one (wasn't feeling well), I can say that he giggled throughout our entire meal so I had an idea it was pretty strong. I usually stick to the Banana Cabana, which is not nearly as strong!

Y'all will have a blast with all or your family there. Smart move getting 3 rooms;) No one will have to be cramped! One of my goals on our next trip is to visit the CBR and CSR...I've heard great things about both. When you return from vacation, you will have to let us know what you think about the resort.

So you are doing the DDP! We love it! Which restaurants will you be going to?

We ate at the Coral Reef a couple of years ago. My son LOVED it and so did I. DH wasn't too thrilled about it. The atmosphere is great! We had a table right next to the aquarium. I read that the Garden Grill has great character interaction. And I forget who it was...someone on this thread...said that they love Garden Grill. San Angel also has a great atmosphere. IMO, it's probably one of the best atmosphere restaurants at Disney. The last time we were there, though, I was not impressed with the chips n salsa...the chips were out of the bag. That being said, the rest of the food was great!!! Whispering Canyon was great for the kids!!! Food was not bad, but not great....had lots of fun there. Sci-Fi at DHS is another place that has terrific atmosphere...just burgers and fries, but my son loved it. We like Yak n Yeti at AK, too....very tasty!! Ohana is another family favortie....character breakfast, too, at Ohana was wonderful. One of the great things about Disney is there are so many wonderful places to choose from.
