9 days 2 resorts FREE Dining Christmas Lights & a bouncing Tigger who stole my heart

Love the Gingerbread House Grand Floridian update!

I swear you are our own Samantha Brown! I feel like I am there with you!

I laughed out loud when you said your DS8 like the gingerbread!!! I just can't believe it. Hooray for him! He's growing up. :goodvibes

I loved seeing your pics of the GF! Less than 3 months until we are back there! We saw the Gingerbread House in 2006 and it was amazing. Looking forward to reading about MK!

That's it. I've changed my mind.

When I grow up, I want to be a CM who makes the Gingerbread house at the GF instead of driving the Monorail.

I know you didn't get to see it finished-- but I think that you got to see an even better sight with them making it! I bet it kept you entertained for quite some time, rather than walking up, seeing it complete, and walking off.:lovestruc

And I'm with your DS8...... I like Gingerbread very much! (Surprised-- aren't you?????;) We just have different tasters, you and me.:rotfl2:)
In fact--- I asked Mom to fix some for me for Christmas!:cloud9: Glad he found something he really liked!

Thanks for sharing the most wonderful, intriguing pictures! Loved it!

This is a phenomenal TR! I feel sorry for everyone who is missing it.:headache:

Jo

So that is how they do that - gingerbread making. I have never seen pics of them in the making...the final product is kind of deceiving after seeing your pics - very interesting.
With your DS8's picky taste I am surprised he liked the gingerbread :goodvibes

So I am on day 2 of my mini vacay - time off work tha I need to take because I can't carry it over. I can get use to this being at home business!Sitting in my sunny kitchen drinking tea and dising!

It's so nice to have laundry on the go, my paperwork filed (well actualy I guess I am not a professional tea drinker as I spilt a whole cup over all my sorte stacked bills, bank stubs etc!) So the wet ones are drying all over my kitchen counters :rotfl:

My dising I consider homework for the trip, as I still have to sort my ADRs I was hoping to get some better times.:thumbsup2 and finalize some form of an itinerary.

Shelley- do you use touring plans at all to decide best park, worst park? We didn't first trip, we did second trip, I think I liked the first trip when I knew nothing! :headache: Too much information in my head!

Thank you for sharing and the update!popcorn::

Thank you!

Wow less than 3 months until WDW and the GF!! :cool1:

Can't wait to read about the long-delayed visit to the HAUNTED MANSION! :cool1::cool1:

We headed straight for the HM when we entered MK. Wanted to get there before the boys had any more time to think about it and chicken out! :rotfl:

Jo

I think you would be a great gingerbread CM!! :goodvibes Except you might get in trouble for eating too much of the display! :rotfl:

It was very neat to actually see them working on it.

I'm so glad you are enjoying the TR so much! :cool1:

Glad you are enjoying your time off from work. Well, except for that minor spill!

Good luck finilizing your ADR's and plans. :goodvibes

I actually don't use a real touring plan. I do go by a few things though. I go by the "busiest days in each park" list on AllEars, which I can't find on their website right now to show you, but I have it written in my notes. I found it on AllEars after our very first trip, and boy was it right. We had done everything completely wrong!

Busiest days:
MK ~ Mon, Thur & Fri, then Sun
Ep ~ Tues & Fri
DHS ~ Sun, Wed, then Sat
AK ~ Mon, Tues & Wed

So I take that and cross reference it with the EMH's (which I also avoid) and totally avoid those parks on those days if at all possible. And I have to say it has worked great!! :cool1:

5 days in WDW before you even laid eyes upon that castle! :confused3 MK is our first stop. To each his own though I suppose but tisk tisk, shame on you.

Loved the Gingerbread house- how cool to see it being made! And gingerbread is YUMMY! Not as yummy as cheesecake from the food court but still quite delicious!

Thanks for the crowd level tip from Allears. I've yet to determine my park days.

Great update yet again Shelly!!
I love that your DS8 liked gingerbread!! It's the start of his maturing palate!! Before you know it, he'll be eating Chicken marsala and lobster ravioli!!

Hopefully soon I will start my TR and you can see pictures of the finished product of the GF gingerbread house and a host of all other Christmas decorations. I took tons! I'll keep you posted when I start it.

I vote Christmas over Halloween!! The decorations make it so worth it - it's very festive, even if it is crowded.

Yep, I guess we just aren't in any big hurry to get to MK anymore. I mean, we love it of course! But the kids are just in more of a hurry to get to Epcot & DHS now-a-days!

Glad you liked the gingerbread house pics.

You better get crackin' on planning those park days!!

all in good time - all this work and holiday prep is keeping me from doing the uploading! I have to find some to make our Christmas cards and get those out - hopefully before Christmas!

Hey Shelly - Great report on the gingerbread house! Love it! The GF looks like a nice place too. What did you think about it? - Sea

I agree... 5 days with no castle ! Mind you we're getting our fill on Arrival day and then not returning for about 5 days... So I guess we're just as bad? I have a pick a park day - I may as well have called it MK Day

Yes another thank you for the crowd level tips. As for determing park days, in a way I' m envious of this statement, due to my food desire (AKA disney gluttony) I had to plan my days around my ADR's:headache: i never eat that way at home, and I am sitting here thinking most days I have a chicken salad for lunch and a regular sit down plain dinner, why can't I do that at Disney? they've got me good when it comes to spending money ! :lmao:

Thanks Sea!

We like the GF very much. It's not at the top of our list to stay at. But it is definitely very nice and we would stay there! :goodvibes Seems very relaxing.

I like to hit MK mid week for slower days, so I guess that's why it takes us so long to get there when we arrive on the weekend!

There's nothing wrong with planning your days around your ADR's if that's what makes you happy!! It's your vacation! :cool1:

DS8 on the other hand loved it!! Who knew? The kid that hates all food, liked something like this?

:rotfl2:

DisneyNovember2009594.jpg

Mmmm...looks good!

Can you believe it, we had been in WDW for 5 days and this was our first trip to the MK?!

:scared1:

Great report on the GF and the Gingerbread house! You may have just missed the finished product by 1 day, but you lucked out and got to see the Osborne lights!! Definitely a good trade-off, IMO. :cool1:

I'm in total agreement on the gingerbread. I am a sweet-aholic, but never have liked gingerbread, or ginger snap cookies, or spice flavored anything. Yuk! (There is no appropriate smilie for yuk. I would put a  but it doesn't actually give me a fever.)

I'm another one who doesn't care for Gingerbread.... I'm not a big 'spiced' anything fan. :confused3 and I definately am not a fan at all of the GF. :sad2:

But some of you already know that story. I just think it's very stuffy and a *little* too pretentious for us. :snooty: <--- Not in an awesome MAYer way either.

But still, I would like to see the gingerbread house :goodvibes

I'm really only on page 19 but I'm totally LOVING your TR and all your info...my DS's 1st trip will be in April and he too LOVES Star Wars and is in the same age group...Thanks so much for taking the time to share your trip with us:goodvibes
