9 and 11 year old girls Christmas gifts

Go ahead and tell the mom that you want to get gifts for her daughters. It would be most helpful in order to get Christmas gifts that the girls will like. I know you wanted it to be a surprise for the mom too, but at least the girls will still be surprised

:thumbsup2 And it might help the mom not to have to worry so much about gifts for the girls -- less stress for her.

I have a 9 year old dgd. She likes video games, reading, crafts, board games and cooking. Her dad is getting her a 2DS or DS2 or whatever its called. I am getting her clothes and pjs and several books (I bought a couple from a couple of different series and am hoping to see what she likes and will start adding from there) and either some crafts or some cooking sets.

My 11 (almost 12)year old niece asked for a perfume making kit, a bath bomb making kit, an instant camera, and clothes from Justice. She also asked for some things for ice skating as she skates competitively, so if the girls are into sports or dance you could look for things like a new soccer ball, hair ties, etc. My other nieces who are 7,8,10 want those finger monkeys that are hard to find this year, craft kits, books, Shopkins, Barbies. It depends on the likes of the girl. My 7yo niece want nothing to do with Barbies and Shopkins while the 8 &9 yo love them.

What about a membership to the local zoo or science museum?

My 8 year old also loves legos and the magnet tiles.

There have been lots of great gifts mentioned already. So a few new ones:

Lush - it's a store with "fancy" bath stuff. My daughter has coveted stuff from there for years, it's overpriced but she loves the bath bombs and similar things. There's a store in Disney Springs that sells similar things - maybe Basin? can't quite remember But it's a splurge and something that she loves and doesn't normally get.

A few years ago she was obsessed with nail polish - but more specifically nail art things, stencils, pens and stickers.

Novelty lighting for their room, string lights or even lava lamp type things.

Clothes - but those are so tricky to get.

I have nothing to add to the above lists but I think it's wonderful you are doing this.

I'd stay away from makeup and perfume unless you know FOR SURE about their allergies.

Around here age 11 is 6th grade and Justice is waaay uncool once in middle school. The girls here like Ivory Ella, Vineyard Vines, PINK, etc. Slime is huge for both ages, craft kits for the 9 but for the 11 make sure they aren't the little kiddy kind. Do you have a 5Below near you? All the middle school girls like all crud they sell there, from the fuzzy socks to the nail stuff and room decor. Whenever they have to buy stuff for each other they all want to head there (this is still true at age 12). Claires is good as long as you stay away from the kiddy accessories in regards to the 11 year old. But I know those stupid cat ear headbands and flower bands are popular at all ages.

I don't know a single girl around me over age 9 that still is into american girl either. But as someone said each kids personality is different. My 15 year old collects Tsum Tsum whereas my 12 thinks they are (baby toys). My older daughter loved the girly lego kits at 9. Still loves lego but now likes the big sets that are for display.

Movie gift cards are always good at both those ages, and all the girls love Bath and Body Works around here so gift card to there would be a hit. Do either of them do any extra curricular activities such as dance, or a sport that you could tailor a gift to?

OP, for some things, you need to really ask the mom. I wouldn't buy make up or nail polish for a kid either of these ages without talking to the mother. Some parents are very strict about when their girls can have these things.

Personally, I would stick with more fashionable accessories than clothes. Scarves, hats, gloves, jackets, sweaters, winter vests, boot socks--that kind of stuff. If they need clothes, I would give a VISA gift card for whatever amount you would spend on clothes.

Just be mindful of things that may cause Mom more troubles or cost her more money.
If you do get a gift card make sure its enough to cover everything for the outing or shopping trip. Like a big enough movie card to include both girls and the mom and the snacks. Or if you think Mom will let the 11 year old go alone, at least enough for her and a friend and snacks.

I have 2 girls, 9 & 14. So I have been through both ages. As someone else mentioned they don't like Justice much past 5th grade. My 9 year old (4th grade)loves the stuff there especially the Novelty stuff. She also likes Legos, Harry Potter, purses, scarves, Pusheen the cat, stuff from Claires. She also is asking for nail polish and lip gloss makers. For the 11 year old you could probably get chockers or earrings from Claires but not much else. Some other ideas, crossbody purse, fuzzy socks, Bath & Body works stuff, Lokai bracelet. There are also these subscription boxes, that might be fun and work for both ages:

https://www.theboodlebox.com/

It might be too late for the boxes though, I think December shipped already and the next box doesn't ship until end of December.

Someone else mentioned lights for the room, I thought these were cool:

My 10 year old is getting the giant Nickelodeon slime kit. She also loves board games (Clue is her current favorite but she also likes Life). Mini backpacks are popular here, as are clothing and pillows with reversible sequins. She also really wants squishies (both the ones on keychains and the large ones shaped like ice cream cones, strawberries, etc.). I have no idea why those are popular but my daughter and all her friends love them and I have to admit they are fun to hold and squish. Around here, they sell them at kiosks in the mall. Adidas tennis shoes with the classic stripes are also all the rage at my daughter's school if you know the shoe sizes of the girls. Chokers and bath bombs are good small gifts.

I have an eleven year old girl. She LOVES making and playing with slime. Anything emoji. The sequence pillows and items mentioned above. Purses. Fuzzy blankets. Back rest pillow. Fairy lights. Fun jewelry. Camera.

I love that you are doing this. It’s wonderful!
