By the end of the weekend, she had (committed) with a "full ride" to University of Maryland and we headed home. She started her senior year feeling great already knowing where she'll be in 2007! The only downside was calling the other coaches to let them know she won't be joining their teams. That was tough.

DS (3) started preschool on Thursday. Is there anything cuter? So far, he loves it! And it has him fired up to try the clubs.

Lisa

Congratulations to your dd & to your 3ds. :teeth: I'm sure your dd is very relieved to start her senior year already prepared for the next year!

I feel for you with the moving.... yuck! My dining room and the upstairs hall & kitchen are still filled with boxes from our redecorating/remodelling.... As you can tell I prefer to spend my time either here are doing something with the kids rather then unpack! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Our kids start school this week, so now we have to inform the school of our vacation absence.

Got some last minute shopping done this weekend. I think we are in pretty good shape for the cruise.

DH & 26ds went shopping for new tennis shoes and ds needed some sandals that could be worn on the beach. They still haven't gone through their shorts...... I think it took them 5 mins at Kohl's......
I bought 2 new suitcases on Friday...

I think the rest of us are all ready. :thumbsup2 I just need to start ironing and packing....

Morning Yall!! I've got to start my packing and my fish extender. But that leads me to a question. Our cabin doors didn't have fish on them. Just a round door sign with our numbers on them. :confused3 So how do we hang them on our doors??

Congrats on the scholarship!!

I refuse to comment to those who are going to DL today! :lmao:

I plan to finsh whatever shopping I need in Atlanta next week. 3 days off the board, I'm guessing that will mean I'll have about 50 pages to catch up on when I get back. :rotfl:

AS I am about to exit the door to go to DISNEYLAND... :lmao:
I decided to check the boards one last time...

Amlee, everyone has a fish on the wall to the side of the door...
I"ll look for a picture and attach it later.
DCL leaves notes for you on it... it is actually like a large fish CLIP...
it opens like a clip. anyway, you slip the rope/string of your extender over the fish and it just hangs there...
it is also very easy to "remove" so I am bringing Fish Extender "CLUBS" to secure the extender to the fish...
you will need nail clippers or scissors to remove the "club" at the end of the cruise.

Ok... I'm leaving now, so don't anybody say ANYTHING until I get back.

I am on my way to get my bridesmaid dress but I had to check the boards since I was away all day yesterday.

I don't have a cc card even though I am a cc member. They have my number in the system so when they look it up they will know I am legit! We probaly won't get there until about 1 or 2 either so that is good to know that the lines will be short (or that they usually are short) so i am not worried about it.

I think I am going to pack tonight too now that I have most of what I need for the trip. I also need to go to the store for markers to write on the pillow cases with!

The fish extenders got thier name from the message fish everyone has on the small angled wall next to each door, not on the door. DCL thinks this is to use to leave messages for guests, it's true purpose is to hang the fish extender on the metal fish!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:Alex

 I have been on the Wonder 3 times before and I have NEVER noticed those fish before. 2nd time we didn't go below deck, so I can excuse that time. But the 1st and 3rd times, I don't have one. Even in Feb when we cruised I didn't notice one beside my cabin door.

Still not talking to those DL people! :lmao:

Woohoo! Fish Extenders are done for Allison and McKinley...

I finished the magnetic picture frame gifts last night...

Now onto the pirate costumes....

We have booked this trip as well. OUr dd, who is 4, is coming.

Our other DCL excusion with dd is the submarine excursion in Barbados. She could not believe me at first when I told her that we would be going on a submarine. She didn't think submarines really existed. She kept asking me: "How? How is that possible?"

We also arranged a kayaking and snorkeling excursion with an eco-tour company in St. Thomas. We love to snorkel but DCL doesn't allow children under 5 on their snorkeling trips. This company seems very family friendly.

I am glad to know that we are not the only ones going on this cruise. My kids love anything water, and I figured another boat would be just fine with them. I, for one, was very disappointed about the limited options for shore excurions for the under 5 crowd. But, that's okay, it just means we will be doing more on our own.

That is so funny about the submarine. I bet she will just love the experience once you get on board.

I agree....the excursions are VERY limited for children under 5... :sad2:

So it looks like Ally and I are doing beachy things, lol...

Did we end up cancelling the wine tour b/c of the new carryon regulations and such????

Wan

Nope! It's still a go! I'm thinking we are going to put our bottle in our checked luggage.

Good luck with the selling of the old house!

I think I am going to buy a gold ears headband just like Sandy's and then you won't know which one you are talking to, LOL Actually you will because this is really Valerie's DF Terry, or Buddy writing this. Just wanted to say "Hi" :moped: :moped: <--- It says this is a Moped, but I'm pretending that it is my electric mobility cart.

LOL!
We are looking forward to meeting you!

one more question......
wht do people do about strollers on the excursions? we are mainly doing island tours, but would like to bring a stroller with us. is there a place for it on the excursion buses or do i have to hold it in my lap?

thanks!
cathicool

I think it depends on the type of bus. I don't know what types of buses DCL uses, but on a cruise last year with a different cruise line, one of our excrusions was a motorcoach - stroller underneath no problem. The other was more like an open air mini bus. The only place to put a stroller would have been at our feet.

I don't know yet what I am doing about the stroller situation. I am thinking maybe just two umbrella stollers because that will be easier to store in the stateroom. But, when our 2 year old wants to walk, someone has to push the second stroller. We have a double that we use a lot, but it is just so big, even when it is folded up. Decisions, decisions....

We are doing the beach on our own in Barbados after a self-guided walking tour. I have been told there is a decent beach within walking distance of the port. We are not real beach people - fun for a little while, but then we get restless.

But after yesterday, I am now a bit nervous about how our 4 year old is going to react. We went out on our boat yesterday along the intracoastal and stopped at a sandbar for everyone to get out and splash around. After about a half hour, my son let out a yelp and started walking out of the water trying to take his swimsuit off. He had a big welt and once the swelling went down, there is a distinct bruise mark and a long scratch down his leg. We think maybe he encountered a crab when he sat down. Ouch! He said he wants to go back, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that he doesn't get too afraid to go back in the water.

What ever you decide , you will have your mousketeers following you. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

I have clothes laid out on spare bedroom bed for the cruise. Poor John will have to put his clothes on the floor. So hard to decide what to bring. :rolleyes1 Maybe I should just bring everyting. :rotfl2:

I am glad the days of packing for kids are done. Sometimes I do not know how we managed 14 day vacations with them. :confused3 It is a lot of work just packing for two.

Okay Steph. Don't for get to let me know your final count of suitcases. If not I will have to ask your daughter Pirana .

I called DCL today to get a new castaway club card and she told me they were redoing the castaway club and everyone would be getting new cards so until then they are not sending them out. She assured me I wouldnt have a problem using the CC line at the port. Ive never had a problem before so lets hope.

I spent most of the day getting the kids clothes together. its days like today when Im glad they have so many clothes so me packing this early still leaves them plenty to wear for the next 2-1/2 weeks.

I planned on shopping today for fish extenders and stuff but was so tired from walking around Sea World all day yesterday I decided to stay home.
