9/28/13. Disney Wonder 7 night Bahamian out of Galveston.

I'm hoping to get them into the nursery so we can treat our mothers to a Palo brunch. Since this cruise has sea days late in the itinerary, I'm hoping we can do a trial run before our brunch reservation. I'll probably pre-book mid morning on Day 2/our first sea day.

They've never been left in a day care setting before (I stay at home). With DS, I took him to IKEA before our cruise so that he could get some experience in a kids club (he had just turned 3). The girls are too young for that, but I'm thinking maybe we can try it out at a local gym. Lord knows I could use the exercise!

That's a great idea about getting them used to daycare through IKEA and the gym! I should do the same, it's been way too long since I've graced the gym with my presence. Think they would mind if I dropped her off and then just went to Starbucks? ;)

The nursery is great, though! The two way mirror that lets you peek in at your little ones is the best!

Just booked a cabin on this cruise! So excited, this will be our second Disney cruise, and our first trip to the Bahamas!

My husband Rich loves the trivia (especially music & tv!), our soon to be 2 year old daughter Emily could spend the entire day at Splash Zone, and I'm looking forward to some grown up fun at Mixology!

We'll also be traveling with my husband's sister Laura, who's favorite thing is pin trading.

Looking forward to meeting all of you! I'm off to sign up for the FE and the Facebook page! :)

:welcome: This is our second too, and now we're addicted!:goodvibes

Count me in! I just sent a request for the Facebook group.

I booked the cruise in March when they came out with the WON special. All adults in my group. I'll be in a cabin on my own because DH can't get away from work, and joined by my Dad & Stepmom and Brother and Sis-in-Law. We got the reduced priced 7A's while there were still specific cabins to be selected, but I think it went to 7A GTY pretty quickly. I've also noticed that the main dining filled up, so the special discount must be helping to fill the ship.

I sure wish Disney would stay in Galveston as I know I'd be cruising with them frequently!

:welcome: Gotta love that WON deal!:)

Hi everyone, this will be a girls only cruise for us - the hubs and sons are staying home. It will be me (Shel), my sis (Deb) and her daughter (K - 3). I have cruised many times before, this will be my first out of Galveston, which is awesome. :cheer2: Definitely looking forward to getting away for a while. Favorite things on the cruise are sitting on deck 4 on the chairs and watching the water, those chairs in the Rainforest Room and the shows/food. OK, pretty much love it all!!! :beach:

Hi everyone...so looking fwd to this cruise. I'm Debbie (sis to Shel) taking the all girls cruise this route. It's my 2nd cruise & it will be my daughters (age 3) very 1st. Love just being on the open waters watching the waves, watching the most beautiful sunrises/sunsets on the horizons, love the delicious food, amazing shows, & meeting all sorts of new & exciting people. This is a total getaway trip for me (even though I will have my daughter). Can't wait to set sail with all of you! ⚓

Just FYI...

I will be without home internet for about a week starting on Wednesday. I won't be able to update the FE spreadsheet during this time. If we have any new participants please let them know to be patient and I will get them added as soon as I can. Thanks!

I think I just made a costly mistake! We found GREAT rates today from Memphis, was originally just gonna drive, but dd's really wanted to fly. So, I booked. Hou on the 27th. Now I have a problem...HOW do I get from Hou to Galveston the most economical way? I'm a little nervous I have messed us up if it's going to cost an arm and a leg to get to the port! Any helps or ideas?

And I did call Enterprise. A $100.00 drop off fee (I don't even know what that is)...lol.

Okay so I love the thought that we have a lil over 4 months till we set sail...you know to "prepare", make or purchase FE's & all; but then on the other hand...I can't wait to set sail & I'm wanting those 4 months to fly by!!!! Lol, come on Sept 28th!!!!

How many people are you trying to get from HOU to Galveston?

Off hand...Disney Transfers are probably going to be expensive. SuperShuttle may be an option. Hired car service? I know there's been a lot of chatter about that in the main cruise forum of late.

Trying to get my family ...3 adults, 1-14yr old (guessing that counts as 4 adults then) on the day before the cruise. Disney no longer has the transfers out of HOU. Really looking for the easiest, most economical way to get to Galveston.
Heard of Springhill Suites that offers a cruise pkg with transportation, but had booked Harbor Hotel, so checking other options....:rolleyes1

I was checking out the DISNEY CRUISE DVD and I was wondering about Cove Cafe. Are the coffees/lattes included in the trip or is there a charge???

We loved the Cove Cafe in 2011 on the Magic! Yes, you do pay for the coffees, and prices are much like a Starbucks. But you can get the frequent card and earn a freebie! Also, a little hidden fact..the danishes, cookies in there are free! We only got them once (kind of felt funny not paying for the food, lol), but loved the atmosphere for sure! Here's an older thread, but looked the same as our cruise on 2011.

My DH and I are booked on this cruise. My 50th Birthday is 9/28 and our 25th wedding anniversary is 10/1. We are leaving our boys behind :)

We are Platinum CC members and have never sailed on the Wonder. We are moving to Texas this month and decided it would be a good time to try her out!

I think this will be our last cruise for a while. We could drive to PC before and airfare is going to price these cruises our of our budget!

Can't wait for some R & R in September.

:welcome: And I hope you told Disney about your birthday and anniversary! Disney really knows how to help you celebrate! They did an awesome job on our birthdays and anniversary in 2011!

And understand about prices! :goodvibes We were excited about driving down (about 10 hours), but dd really wanted to fly. Bit the bullet and got great rates this week for flying, but now trying to find a decent price to get from Houston Hobby airport to Galveston! Right now, it's gonna cost us what we would've paid in gas traveling back and forth from home! Had NO idea or probably would've just driven and avoided this high cost for transfers. lol, transfers are about to price this cruise out of our budget :rotfl2:

Another plan
Watch for cheap car rental deal and keep the car. Then you have your return to airport. If you're staying in galv at all, can park cheap at hotel.

If you're staying in galveston at all, I have another idea.Watch for car rental deals and get one for the whole time - many hotels have cheap or free parking. Then you've got your return to airport too. I've gotten unbelievable car deals using price line!

And I did call Enterprise. A $100.00 drop off fee (I don't even know what that is)...lol.

:goodvibes I've been checking this week on car rentals. OMG...Avis only wanted
$400 for the week. Enterprises wanted a whopping $100 drop off fee plus the rental fee...

Watching for codes and priceline deals too! I even thought about asking some friends "Aren't you sure you don't want to join us?" Just so we could all split a town car...:rotfl2: (not really, but it was tempting :) )

:welcome: You are gonna LOVE it!

Are you talking about how to dress for formal and semi-formal nights? If so, there are a 'plethora' of ideas on that. I'll give you our .02 and what we saw in 2011.
We wore (my daughter 23 and I) little dressy black dresses or dressier dresses. My daughter didn't want black dresses so we shopped Macy's in August, found some dressier short dresses and they worked fine. Out of all the cruisers on our Oct 2011 cruise, I'd say 30% wore tux and long dresses, while the majority wore suits/dressy dresses. There may have been more, but the 'norm' appeared to do what we did. Some folks rent the tux onboard, some bring them. My dh brought a suit as did my son, and then on semi night, just wore dress pants and jacket/ and or just shirt/tie. Easy peasy for us. My 11dd looked just as dressy as we bought her cute jr dresses from Dillards and dressy sandals. Will do the same this year. It really is up to you, If you want an opportunity to wear a long dress and tux, then go for it! If my hubs liked tuxes, we'd SO be there, but he has to get dressed up enough, so I'm sure not going to make him on his vacation. If you don't want to bring all of that along, you can do what we did. You really can make your own choice.
They also take formal pics, so it's a good time for 'color' coordinating if you're hoping for a family shot, Christmas Pic or any other gift. Used ours for our Christmas Cards.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask on here as we have a lot of second-time cruisers, veterans, and newbies. Or feel free to pm me!
