9/27/14, Returning to the Southern Caribbean

Good morning everyone,

The sun has finally returned to central Florida after 2 days of clouds and rain.

Our thread seems to have died out the last week or two :sad2:

I know our cruise is a long ways away still and there are family and school events keeping families busy, but I am still hoping some of you will post now and then, not just be lurking ;)

Kathy

It has been very busy and working late this past week and for the next two, I don't get on line much...if I do, it's just a quick pop on. Plus, we are getting all our ducks in a row for our trip in 7 weeks!!! Soooooo excited!! :goodvibes

Great to hear form you !!!

7 weeks will fly by I'm sure!!! Wish I was going again that soon but I have over 200 days until my next cruise.
We will be at the Epcot food and wine festival too. Just not sure which days. We go every year. Right now we are enjoying the Flower Power concert series at Epcot on the weekends.

You will have to bring us back photos to see of your trip.:thumbsup2

But it sounds like you are going....our trip is to WDW....it IS a trip for us! :lmao:
we are going to be at the last two weekends of Flower Power concerts! We will also pop down over Columbus Day for Food and Wine. Our next cruise isn't until Dec...about 260 days away! :goodvibes

its a cool cloudy day today, but soon it will be too humid for summer here in Florida, so I guess I had better enjoy the cooler days while I can.:thumbsup2

Off to look at more excursions again today.

ANOTHER Floridian complaining about the weather? Most of us would switch places with you in a heart eat. I have a friend who lives in Buffalo, NY ... they usually get a few feet of snow every year. We normally get snow every year, but I would not want to live in Buffalo.

I asked my DW if she could arrange to get a new job in Key West or St. Thomas. I figure, if they will pay for the relocation, and we are set with a job (in advance), we'll be giddy!
:cheer2:

Have a bathroom that was ripped out and rebuilt, much larger. So the tile work is getting done this weekend. Not very exciting.

We bought our house 25 years ago (new construction). Some of the tiles in the shower are staring to come loose. We are in the preliminary stages of designing a major remodel. We want to make the shower stall much larger (about double the size) ... and want to get one of those "no moving door" entrance (not sure if that is the way to describe). If that does not work, we're thinking of a set-up like the 1 bedroom units at Animal Kingdom villas.

We will pull out the oak cabinetry, and replace it with a piece of free-standing furniture (similar to the basic style which would have been used when water was first introduced into the home). That means, more visible tile / marble / granite (etc).

As of now, we're STILL in the midst of trying to settle on repairs from Hurricane Sandy (October 29 - 30, 2012). The insurance company's 2nd adjuster was at our house yesterday. It sounds like they are going to approve the majority of the repairs ... and hopefully give up permission to more forward within the next few days. Their initial estimate of repairs was just over $10,000 ... but our contractor's estimate was just over $40,000. To date, we were not able to make any repairs (other than emergency), as most insurance companies will decline coverage if you repair the area in question, prior to agreement on the actual repair.

Part of the repairs includes a new roof, sliding glass door and custom window for the bathroom. The sliding door and window will take 8 weeks to order. That means it should be installed by the middle of May. Renovations and remodeling can be :crazy2:

But others here are not going so they would enjoy photos. Besides sometimes I miss something and someone else catches a photo of it and then I "borrow" thier photo so I have a complete collection.;) They have soemthing new every year.
I will be at almost all the concerts, expecially Paul Revere and the Raiders, Peter Noone and Hermans Hermits, The Turtles, they are my favorites!!! As old as many of them are now, you never know if they will be able to come back next year.

We always went to see The Grass Roots with Rob Grille but he died a couple years ago, so no more concerts for him.:sad1:

I sure hope they get things settled for you soon. Insurance companies seem to be right there to take your money, but when you need work done they tend to drag their feet sometimes.:confused3

We have be very lucky with hurricane damage. A few years ago when 4 of them came through central Florida, 3 of the 4 went right over us, but we never even lost a shingle, just one bush torn out of the ground.
Our neighbor lost part of his roof, another neighbor had his AC unit go rolling down the road. So we were very lucky.

It was my plan this year to make it to the last concert to catch Davy Jones. I was in love with him when I was a kid...at all of 9 years old, I was gonna marry the boy! :rotfl: We seem to alway catch the same ones! Oh well.

As to pictures....I don't know how to post them! I don't have a photo hosting site.

Stephanie, most people use www.photobucket.com to post photos here.

Once your photos are on your computer, go to photo bucket and follow directions to download them to photo bucket. It has really easy instructions.

Then once they are there, you click on one and 3 boxes will aapear under the photo. One will say forums or boards. jusy copy the digits in that box and paste on your post.
Its actually easier than it sounds.

When you get back and have some free time, have a look at the site. It is free.

Kathy

I know there are special rooms on the Dream and the Fantasy. Are there any special rooms on the Magic? Just wondering if there are different layouts and such. We have a verandah booked for this cruise. Thanks

I know it's free, but I have a photographer husband who doesn't like the idea of posting our photos on one of those sites. I will ask him again. I do post some on FB, and he has no problem with boards, but it's the photo hosting sites he doesn't trust.

Good morning everyone,

Anyone doing anything this weekend??

We will go to Disney once or maybe twice. It is extra crowded with it being spring break but if we go early and leave after 2 or 3 hours its not too bad.
Many times we just go for a walk and to people watch and have lunch out.

Either way its better than sitting at home :goodvibes

Have a good time! I've been online and just purchased the Photopass+ for our May trip...yep, I like the photopass...only way to make sure Dave and I are in the same pictures! ;)

Off to get DGD and take her shopping for her Easter dress. It's sunny here right now, but only 39º...high maybe 50s but nasty stuff moving in tomorrow shooting us down to the deep freeze once again. :sad2:
have a lovely day, everyone!

have a lovely day, everyone!

Y'all have fun shopping. I guess I will work on that perpetual list of chores.

Currently 66F with a high around 72F expected today. The only problem is they say it is going to be breezy later this afternoon with winds around 30mph.

Have a great day.

Bill
