OK get with your people and have them talk to my people and we can set up something. K? Call me! We'll do lunch! Well Palos for sure!I can also do patches. I have done that for someone else. They just sew or glue them on.
I will do the closed group FB page now. will post info in a few minutes
Did you want to be in on the Fish Extender group? If you dont know what it is, which I kinda doubt since you are new to Disney Cruises as well as any cruise, A fish extender is a type of shoe holder if you will, that hangs from the metal fish outside your stateroom door. It is a type of catch all for anything that would be delivered like newsletters from the ship and stuff. When you are a part of a fish extender group, we all give little presents to everyone. There is no set date, time, or even type of present to give. Anything you would think was appropriate for the person. It is geared towards the children, but adults love to participate as well.
@ Jen, Think I need HELP, I am trying to make my FE bag, and the directions I have says it should be 8in wide and 29 in in length. Is that correct, it looks kind of narrow and short. It suggest the pockets be 6in in length.
Yes I did, I am sorry I thought I sent the link out, guess I did not. I will send it in a second.
I would like to use the graphic Jordak made as our profile picture but cant figure out how to do it. I will set up administrator rights for a few others.
I cant really get on facebook alot at work, so I wait till I get home
Ok...The Facebook group is set up.
I did it as a secret group (No public content. Members can see all content. Not displayed on members' profiles) instead of closed group (Limited public content. Members can see all content. Displayed on member's profiles) because it will not appear in search results. I don't know about you guys,but I'm paranoid when it comes to stuff like that,lol.
Membership is by invitation only, and only members can see the group information and content. I set it up as anyone in the group can post on wall and discussion board/add links/add pictures/add videos/etc...
If you would PM me your email,I will send you the invite.
I know. I went with 11 inches wide because it just looked better. Then I started hearing people ask for 9 inches so it wont stick out. I thought EEK!and started making the width 9 but then you need to adjust the depth of the pockets. I dont really measure the lenght of the total FE. I just plan out 5 1/2 to 6 inch deep pockets and make them 11 inches long to give you 2 inches for the pleats. If you dont want want pleats, then just cut it 9 1/2 maybe to give it some sort of opening, and go with that. Remember this is YOUR FE dont let the directions dictate what you do. Just go with it as a suggestion. k?
Thanks, one more question for NOW- Do you use an interfacing between the front and back of the body or what do you use to give it a stiffness. For the front I am using material i bought at joanns, and the back i was just using an old sheet that matched and was never or will be used.
I used duck cloth for the backing and double it. The first one, ours, is just regular fabric with cut away stabilizer in between to make it stiff. We found duck cloth and we didnt have to use the cut away. The old sheet will definitely need some help in being stiff and sturdy to hold the pockets and the fe gifts. Now the pockets, I just used normal 100% cotton fabric. I put some interfacing in it to give it a little stiffness but you dont want to put that much in it because if you put pleats in it, that will really be hard to sew over especially if you have to turn up the bottom of the pockets.
... Be on the look out for a package from me... the box will read... Please help me, she tried to make me a FE but I she got was this

Good thing I bought 3 yards of fabric....
this should be interesting. Buy the way what in the world is duck cloth

Sorry! I didnt mean to ignore you. A bunny just distracted me and I forgot to reply back to you.Thanks, everyoneI have not been this excited/nervous about a trip in a long time
If it's not too late, that would be great, it sounds like fun. Hmmm, I think I may look to buy a fish extender (by the way, when I first heard that name, all sorts of ideas were floating through my mind, none of which were what they really are LOL) or ask my mother who sews to help a bit, that or I will be the one with the Fish Extender sewn to my forearm
~~~
What kind of teen activities do they have? Are there Cast Members who supervise, or do the kids just go off on their own? I know I sound over-protective (I am), I looked on the DCL website and it was hard to tell what sort of things they had and if the cast members ran things or were just there in a less involved capacity.
I've got a lot of reading to do, I like to plan, plan, plan, but with time being short, I am not going to get to plan as much as I would like to. I am sure things will still be great though![]()
Youre not right! You are NOT going to be using 3 yards of fabric! That is going to be the most expensive FE ever made! Duck cloth (sold at Joann's in the quilter's section) is a very stiff fabric. I am not sure where else you would use it besides Fish Extenders!
It is also referred to as Ducking but you probably wont find it if I called it that.
i will delete the FB page I did,
Thanks for taking this on 3xthejoy
hello from a total dis and cruise newbie ... I found the site via google, i was on another site and did a search on what in the world a fish extender was and stumbled on to disboards. My husband and i wanted to plan a get-away and booked the cruise just two weeks ago, so we're getting a late start at all of this. I am super-duper nervous, never have cruised before, it's a bit over-whelming, but at the same time exciting![]()
anyhoo, i was wondering if it is too late to join in with fellow-cruisers, i will admit i have not yet made it through the 79-80 pages in this thread, so i have a lot of catching up to do.
I am hoping that maybe i will be able to help ds (14) in finding someone to pal around with; as super cool as dh and i think we are (lol), i have a feeling that ds doesn't always share that sentiment. He is shy and reserved, so i don't think he would forge out on his own in the teen area to meet other kids his age on his own (he doesn't do it at home, so i don't suppose he'd suddenly do so on a cruise with thousands of strangers) are there other families with only children that age as well that we may be able to meet?
I wish we would have booked sooner, generally we're not last minute travelers, there's a lot to learn and plan for, i hope there is time to get a decent grasp on how it all works and what to expect.
I think I have room-change-itisI looked at our stateroom's location on the map on the DCL site and now I am rethinking my selection (it's 2-3 doors down from the elevators ... or so as I can tell from the map).
Is there a fee for changing room or category on DCL? Dh says to leave it as it is, but I keep thinking there has to be a reason the rooms that are still available were not snatched up earlier lol. I may be over-thinking this.
I'm dying laughing over here... That's what I got last week off Ebay for $6 from someone in China.
It has Mickey,Minnie,Donald and Daisy on it
Definitely will have Jen do ours for our next cruise on the Dream![]()
