9/24/09 3 Day Wonder - Cruise Meets, and FEs, and Goombays oh my!

i wish there was more availability for the night after the cruise, i really wanted to try BWV and BLT, but saratoga is better than nothing

thats the one good thing about the transatlantic flights, we get 2 bags per person. the only problem is that when we go on the cruise, last time we took one case, and left the others in the car, this time we have to take all 3 or 4 cases on the cruise with us. the room is going to be a bit snug

Lainey, what airline are you flying on? Southwest is always free for the first two bags...but I guess SW doesn't fly out of Atlanta. Do you fly Airtran? Airtran is always changing their schedules when I fly them, it drives me nuts!! But I agree that flying is a good idea!! No need to get into an argument over directions. Because heaven forbid a man asks for directions!! LOL!! I got Tim a Garmin for Christmas a couple of years ago, because he gets lost so much!! It seems to help though...

we use to get one checked bag per person free but now they are charging everyone for each checked bag. I pack way too much all the time but i have never forgotten anything plus i really don't want to do laundry on my honeymoon but i guess if i have to i will. I think i am gonna go outside and enjoy the BEAUTIFUL weather while we have it and i dont think we will have it much longer. I will talk to yall later.

mary-yep we are flying airtran they typically have an 8:30 or 8:45am flight to orlando throughout the week so we are taking that one. greg isn't horrible with directions but since i tend to drive when we go out of town i am relying on him to read me the directions i told him that i need a garmin or tomtom he said why do you need one of those when you have me i said well i would like to get to where i want without making WRONG TURNS! (he actually didn't get mad he thought it was funny and agreed with me b/c he HATES reading the directions)

i think its a man thing, gary wont ask for directions, lucklt he's got a tomtom so that helps!

yeah we had to get my stepdad a garmin b/c the last time he drove to Pa to cisit his parents he looped Knoxville about 3 or 4 times b/c he couldn't remember the exit but he wouldn't ask for directions i was half asleep and woke up asking my mom haven't we passed that building a couple of times already she told me be quiet and go back to sleep Guy is LOST and wont ask for directions. (he can't hear very good out of his right ear so he had no idea what she or i had said)
How is everyones day going so far? Other than having a headache mine is going pretty good it is really pretty outside and my allergies aren't bothering me. I am still trying to find some good FE gifts i have been looking at the boards and some lady really went all out she made mini scrapbooks for all of her FE families. I am crafty but i am not that good are we just doing one per cabin or are we doing one for each person in the cabins that are participating? and are we doing it only once or each night of the cruise anything is fine with me i love giving gifts!

It will take me about 16 hours to drive down. Last time we drove, we stopped in Savannah and stayed overnight. Then we drove into Orlando the next morning. It only took 3 1/2 hours from there and we felt rested. The time before that we drove straight through and I was ready to kill everyone. I don't mind driving though, it's fun. Except the area around South of the Border. That's spooky.

We're not going to Palo. I was thinking about it but since we've never been on DCL, we don't want to miss any of the restaurants.

For the FE, you can do whatever Lainey! There's no set rules. I'm sure anything will be appreciated.

Speaking of FEs, I got mine in the mail yesterday! It's smaller than I thought it would be but super cute!! I can't believe how fast I got it, I ordered it on Sunday!! I have to leave her great feedback.

Mary, have you heard back from the guy you'll be renting points from??

i may end up doing 2 nights on the cruise i was thinking of doing one little bag with stuff in it from georgia or that represents ga. I may not but my mom came up with the idea and i thought it was cute she said you can even get little bottles of peach schnapps to put in the bags my mom is encourageing me to get other people drunk.
I need to go to michaels and see what stuff they have, everything they have is usually pretty good and would travel well that is what i am trying to think about since we are flying it has to be stuff that wil fit in our luggage and not worry about it being broken. Now my creativitiy is going crazy with all the things i can do. My mom keeps coming up with great ideas but some of them i have to explain to her that we had 9 cabins so far and there may be more and so she has tried to think of things that dont require alot of prep time.

I was thinking of doing a goody bag type of thing too and putting stuff that represents Jersey in there as well as beachy, pirate types of things.

Lol, your mom just wants us all to have a good time! There's a website orientaltrading.com that has a lot of things that you can buy in bulk. It's all like kid party type of stuff but some of the things I saw were pretty cute!

Yeah mom saw the liquor thing on one of the boards i was reading there was this person who was from TN and they gave goo goo clusters(made in Nashville) to all the kids in the cabins and a little bottle of Jack Daniels to all of the adults she thought it was really cute.
We use oriental trading alot and they have some stuff for weddings that we are looking into getting mainly the door clings for the car that way they come off real easily(i am scared of my DFi groomsmen getting ahold of my car especially one of them he is the preachers son and he is NUTS!)
Greg wanted us to go to the hotel in his jeep but i will be in a dress(not my wedding dress but still a clutz in a dress) and his jeep is jacked up and i have to use the side rails to get in it and in a dress that just wont work.

I don't know if there is a liquor that represents Jersey unless I find Bon Jovi or Springsteen's picture on it! But we do have salt water taffy!

yeah my aunt is a preachers daughter b4 she had kids she was CRAZY!! well she still is crazy but in her own way
There are quite a few people on the fish extender board who are from Jersey and want to do the themed state bags but they can't think of anything (i would be no help since i have never been there) well except for the salt water taffy which my mom would love.One of the ladys posted that she was from philly and was gonna try and get a philly cheesesteak magnet for everyone personally i perfer the real thing but i dont think cheesesteaks travel well everything i come up wiht from GA has either peaches in it or PEANUTS!! i could do vidalia onion stuff but i don't think it would go over real well.

i was trying to think of things that are from where i live but i just cant think of anything! i think i'm doing a goody bag, i'm going to kinda make a couple of things, then put some other stuff in it too. i havent tried making any of my bits yet, but i've got a pretty good idea of what to make.

jenny, you'll have to post a pic of your FE, i had the same thing when mine turned up, i thought it'd be bigger, but i guess if it was bigger, it wouldnt fit on the fish!!
lainey, i think its pretty much up to everyone if they want to do one per person or per cabin, or if they want to deliver one day or all days.
personally, i'm doing one gift per cabin, and will probably deliver on the first night like i did last time.

thanks karen i was alittle lost mainly bc i know how many people are in your cabin, jens cabin, and marys cabin but everyone elses i was lost on. i found these door magnets that i'm not doing as the gifts but i was gonna get them for our table they are from target they are made to look like different alcoholic drinks i thought it would be cute since we are meeting on the cruise ship for a drink on our first day my aunt gave me the idea (its sad it seems like everyone is giving me ideas and i still can't make up my mind)
i have got to remember to call davids bridal and ask them if i can exchange my dress for a smaller size it makes me feel good that i have lost weight greg is saying "I better loose some weight or you might find yourself someone else" which would NOT happen. but maybe if he does loose some weight he will dance at the wedding more.

Mmmmm taffy! Haha - onions would not go over well!

yeah onions would not be a good idea but it is another thing people say Ga is known for. we do have some good vidalia salad dressing it doesn't have that much of an onion flavor but the bottle is WAY TOO BIG for a FE.

Ahhh, sorry, I was trying to get back on here to answer you Lainey but we got slammed. Actually, it wouldn't be so bad if my co-workers would hurry up with their clients. The one has been with a customer for close to 2 1/2 hours. I've handled 3 people in that amount of time, plus a phone call, PLUS a Disney booking. It must be the age difference. Honestly, it feels like I work by myself most of the time.

I still have 2 things to do but I really don't feel like doing them right now. I'm putting them off until after lunch. I just wanna little time to breathe!

The woman that booked Disney is staying at WL. I was so excited when she told me that. I told her all about how I was surprising Joe and she told me she went there for her honeymoon and I'd love it.

The only thing I can think of for a Jersey bag is salt water taffy. Other than that, I'll make you all a mixed cd of Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, and Frank Sinatra songs.

I'm sorry Jen there are some people that just dont get the idea of working hard or sometimes working at all. I have worked with LOTS of people like that and felt the same way you do alot but mine is with retail so we don't get alot of people that care about their job i care mainly b/c that is the way i was raised you work hard no matter what your job is.
I wouldnt mind the Bon Jovi cd i like pretty much all the songs. my CD would have country music and rap music on it since those are the 2 types that come from here.

It just bugs me because I know if another round of layoffs come, it'll be me that goes because of seniority. Which is absolute b/s because I do more in a day here than most people do all week. Everything goes unnoticed though because my management are about as sharp as bowling balls. They only say anything when you're doing something wrong. People could rave about me and they wouldn't say a word. I know I'm lucky to have a job but I just get so frustrated sometimes!!

Ok, I'm done venting lol. It's like an un-wrriten law here that you have to love all 3 of those singers. I don't like Bon Jovi's new stuff all that much though. Shhh, don't tell.
