lainey, i know what you mean about the scottish burn thing, garys from glasgow, so in the sun he goes from pale white to bright red, then back to pale white!
i on the other hand only have to look at the sun and i tan! my mum's english but my dad's from malaysia so i tan really easily! (and on the ironic side, my maiden name is tan)
i've been told i sound like anything from australian, new zealand, american, irish, apparently i sound like i've got an accent to a lot of people. then again its normally by people in pubs where i've worked so that may be down to the alcohol!

and yay its the weekend!!

i feel your husbands pain even when i put on sunblock apparently i miss quite a few spots and they always seem to be on some part of my body where fabric has to touch!! which feels like sand paper rubbing against your skin. Greg says that he burns but he doesn't notice that it doesn't hurt and he tans the next day(not really dark but he is no longer glow in the dark white like me)
I guess the guy that though i was Irish was going by the way i look(red hair b/c it was in the summer and my hair seems redder then, VERY PALE SKIN, loads of freckles, and i tend to wear cletic knot jewelry) and not the way i sound.

no matter how much you try and get every spot covered with suncream, there's always one bit that manages to miss it and burn!!

and for some reason that part hurts worse than when i have burned larger parts of my skin.
Do yall have any suggestions on movies that are out right now to go see? my aunt is in town from FLA and we are thinking of going to the movies tommorrow but we have no clue what is good and actually we really don't even know what is out so any suggestions would be nice.

In the past couple weeks I've seen:
I Love You, Man - hysterical but I'm not sure what your aunt's taste in comedy would be, it's a little on the raunchy side

Monsters vs Aliens - super cute!

Tonight or tomorrow I'm going to see Adventureland. Anything with Judd Apatow's name on it is :thumbsup2 to me!

Don't see Watchmen!!!!!

i told my mom about watchmen and shee said that one of the girls she works with saw it and said that it wasn't good. my mom and i would probably like i love you man we love 40 yr old virgin, all the american pie movies and lots of other ones like that we have a sick sense of humor. My aunt on the other hand may not liek it but we may have to drag her to see it anyway.

It's not as raunchy as those movies but there's some crude humor in it. It cracked me up because of the way Paul Rudd was throughout the movie. :rotfl:

well if its not as bad as the ones we like i think my mom will love it (I am always shocked at the kinds of movies that she likes) As long as i dont cry through the whole movie i generally like it i can't stand coming out of a movie with a headache from crying.
However with the next twilight saga movie i may cry a little bit b/c i did when i read the book i hope i dont but knowing me i probably will (its sad that i cried while listening to the book dorky huh)

Lainey, I just started reading the 2nd Twilight book. Is it really that sad?? Don't tell me why though!! When I read the last HP book, I read it in less than a day, because I was so afraid that someone would ruin it for me. I'm glad I did too, because the end wouldn't have had the same effect if you know what was going to happen.

So, I just finished my test FE gift. It turned out really good!! My DH was even impressed, LOL. My "fish extensions" ended up good.

I was going to take my niece to see a movie tomorrow, but there isn't anything that looks that good out at a theather that I want to take her too. I might take her to Monsters vs. Aliens, but the theater that it is playing at in her town is not it a great part of town. Which is weird because it is across the street from the other one practically, and that one is fine...

Karen, did you have a good post birthday dinner with your DH? I'm sure it was fun!

i havent actually taken him out for dinner yet, we're going out today, we're going to head for kent, i want to go somewhere different, getting bored with doing the same thing every week. we'll probably go out for dinner somewhere tonight.

mary, cor you're prepared!! i've started thinking of things for our FE gift, but i havent made anything yet! come on show us a piccy then!! ;)

another vote for monsters vs aliens, it was sooooo funny, there's a theater about 45 minutes drive from us that we went to last week to see the film, one of the screens has sofas and beanbags. we spent the whole film chilling in a bean bag, had a hard time getting up by the end of the film!

Hi everyone! Yesterday was such a busy day at work for me I didn't have time to hop over here on the DisBoards! LOL! I did see our former Governor on the news! They should have done a spot like they do for the Super Bowl...."Governor Blagojevich, you have just been indicted yesterday by a Chicago federal grand jury on 16 counts including racketeering conspiracy, wire fraud, extortion conspiracy and attempted extortion. What are you going to do?" "I'm going to Disney World!" It would have been hilarious. :lmao:

DH and I are planning on see Fast and Furious today...it's our 5th Anniversary! We usually try to see a movie a week, that is if there is anything playing that isn't a piece of junk....although his idea of junk is different than my idea of junk, for example...I think Street Fighter is a piece of junk, he thinks PS I Love You is a Piece of junk. Although I bite the bullet and watch more things I have no interest in than he does...see what love does to you?

Dont' worry mary i wont ruin it for you, my mom and i both cried a little during the second book but we are kinda softies so you may not cry. Since i am in my car alot i listened to HP just like i did with the Twilight series the last book was good and i am glad they are making it into 2 movies so that they wont cut alot of stuff out but i hate the fact that we are gonna have to wait a year in between the movies.
I have no clue what movie we are going to go see but with 3 of us going i have a feeling i will be out voted if it comes down to seeing and action movie vs. a tear jerker (which umlike most women i know and all of them in my family i really don't like the movies that guys call "chick flicks") Once again i am a weirdo i don't like chocolate and i don't like "chick flicks" which i guess makes my DFi happy but i told him that doesnt mean that i am gonna watch KILL BILL VOL 1&2 I HATE THOSE MOVIES!!!!

how's everyone's weekends been?
i'm feeling a bit iffy at the mo, about a year and a half ago i had really bad tonsilitis and i think i might have it again, it started yesterday, wasnt too bad then, but then i woke up this morning in agony. been taking paracetamol all day which has helped, its not too bad at the mo, but i'm going to make an appointment at the doctors tomorrow as i dont want it to get any worse.
but we've had a nice weekend apart from that, we went to kent yesterday, and today we've been out in southend (my home town) and i beat gary at mini golf!! twice ;)

My weekends been good my DFi best friend had a bday party for his wife last night and I had fun watching everyone trying to play guitar hero. But before i went to the party i had to take my mom to the ER she has really bad asthma and is allergic to alot of stuff and the pollen count was REALLY high yesterday and she was out in it most of the day and her system couldn't handle it so we took her in they gave her 2 breathing treatments and some steroids IV and to take home. She is doing much better but now when she has to go out during pollen season she has to wear a mask. But for now she is inside making little Easter Pails for all of my nieces and nephews and my 2 little cousins(it looks like a cavity waiting to happen!)
I feel sorry for you karen i remember having tonsilitis it was so bad that my tonsils touched but they took them out b/c they were impairing my breathing. Ever since then i haven't had a sore throat which is nice.

hope your mum's ok lainey, a couple of months ago i had to my mum to the ER as she had a bad asthma attack, it worried the hell out of me, but luckily she's ok now. hope your mum gets better soon.

she is ok for now but with pollen season already being this bad and it being so early i fear that she may only get worse. But this was the 2nd time in a 3 week period where i had to take her to the ER. She has acid reflux induced asthma attacks and b/c of her acid reflux she has only about 60% lung capacity wich for an asthmatic is really bad they say she may never get it back but we are all hoping that they are wrong.

Hi all! I am a long-time DIS lurker and I just booked our first cruise on the Sept 24 Wonder. To say I am excited is SUCH an understatement! I grew up in C. Florida and my first job was in the Magic Kingdom, so I am a lifelong Disney freak.

I've book three Cat 10 rooms because it will be my dh and I, our three sons (14, 12, and 6), my dad and brother, and my sweet little niece and nephew (4 and 5). If this thread is any indication, they might be the only kids on board, although for some reason, I have my doubts! ;)

Anyway, it is nice to see that there are others as excited as me (my dh thinks it is far too early to get excited about a September trip)!

I see that there is a FE group in the works and if it's ok, I would love to participate. :flower3:

Amy

hi Amy!!
welcome to our friendly cruise meet! you're more than welcome to join in the FE, the more the merrier!
just to introduce myself, i'm karen, i'm cruising with my DH gary, its our second cruise and we're soooo looking forward to it! we're from the UK, just to the right of London. we're staying at ASM for the 12 nights before the cruise with free dining (for the first time on the DDP), i cant wait!!!
its so nice that we're getting more people on the thread, my last cruise meet thread was a lot more sedate, this one is much more active and friendly! and looking forward to our second (and MUCH bigger) FE exchange!

Hi Amy! My DH, Tim, and I will be cruising for the very first time on this cruise! It is also our 5th anniversary. We will be spending the week following the cruise at Saratoga Springs with DH's family. Welcome to our thread! :goodvibes

Karen, I hope you are feeling better. Having a sore throat always stinks. My nephew, who is 3, had to have his tonsils taken out. I guess they were causing some drainage problems or something related to his ears, he also has tubes in his ears. Poor kid! You would never know it though, he is insane!!

Lainey, how is your mom? I was kind of laughing last night at the weather channel, they had a high pollen count alert, but it snowed like 3 inches. I was a little curious as to how that works exactly. All of the flowers were covered in snow -- gross!!

For my FE gift, Karen (or anyone else), if you want to see a pic, I can PM it to you...I just don't want to ruin it for anyone that wants it to be a surprise. I love surprises!! But you can see if you want, it turned out really well!!

Welcome back to Monday, everyone!! :headache:
