I'm looking forward to most of the food being free! I've never used the DP before.

Rumor has it the official park hours will be posted tomorrow.

I'm not too wild about the new park hours calendar on disney's site, I liked the old one better where you could pull down different parks and different months. It's too much work now!!

I don't understand what the hold up is all the time. I think they just like to drive people crazy. I really do!!

yeah i dont think too much of the new calendar either.
go the UK disneyworld.co.uk site, they've got the old style calendar, much easier. i tend to find the dis calendar easiest anyway as all the parks and parades are on the same calendar!!!

i'm looking forward to not spending over 75% of the spending money on food like we ended up doing last year. i think i took about $100 a day and nearly all of that went on food

Most of our spending money usually goes to food too. I'm glad this time it won't. Except for the last couple of days we're there.

I'm hoping the real park hours come out today! Fingers crossed girls!

Thanks for that site, Karen -- it is much better!! I like the new calendar, but miss some of the functionality that the old one had, like the drop down to choose between parks.

I'm kind of peeved at my work right now. I'm on the celebrations committee, which basically means that we coordinate the cakes and gifts when people have a baby or get married. We just are having the first baby one in 2 days, and we got a glider that she wanted, not the exact one from her registry, but close (actually, it's nicer and was cheaper with my mom's discount). Now this one other girl is all -- maybe we should have put a note that we were going to use the money that people gave for "gifts" -- as opposed to?? I'm not sure -- a gift card, I guess. Would it really matter to any of you? I'm just confused. Grrrr!!

I am waiting for the hours too. Enough already, they should put us all out of our suspense!!

What did that girl think you were going to do with the money?? What's the difference between buying an actual gift vs a gift card? Does she not like what was picked out for a gift?

She doesn't not like the gift...she just thinks that people will be mad that we got "gifts" not a gift card. I fail to see the difference...and totally don't think that we need to specify if we are getting a gift or a gift card. And if people will complain about it then...they are just nuts!! I'm just confused by what the big deal is, gift or gift card. I like getting gifts better than gift cards anyways, more fun!!

So, we have what are called fam trips at the TA. Basically, they send you to a destination for free and you learn all about it. There is one listed for Universal 9/13-9/16. I'm thinking about signing up. I'd go down for 3 nights, come back and work 2 days, and then leave for the Disney trip!!

I agree that gift cards are impersonal -- hence the giving of gifts, LOL!!

That sounds like fun, I would totally take a free trip!! Do you get to eat at all of the cool restaurants there too? Just a warining though -- the parks at Universal are only open until 6pm. Yes, I said 6!! Weren't they the ones running a commercial a while ago that said something about I don't want to go to bed at 7, or something to that affect? Ironic, no?

I think they have certain restaurants picked out that they'd want us to try. I'm not really sure. If we wanted something else, we'd have to pay for that ourselves. I forgot about those commercials! You're right! When I was there in November, they closed at 6 too. I was surprised. Anything before 8 is suprising to me.

i did look at trying to become a travel agent a few years back, thought it'd be a cool job but no one over here will take you unless you've got experience or a travel and tourism degree. oh well.

mary, you're not the only one peeved at work today, i was told off before i left for talking about a guy who got fired from the park last week. i know who grassed me up to my manager, its getting to the point where i dont want to open my mouth at work. there's 5 of us in the office (not including our kinda "supervisor"-person who's kinda taken it that she's in charge of us), one of the men is quiet and kinda just gets on with his work, the other guy used to work in customer services like i did and has just turned into a bit of a kissass creep, the payroller is not that great at her job but gets away with it as she's all pal-ly with our "supervisor", and then there's me and chris. chris has been there over 10 years, way before everyone else up there, but my boss wants her out as she only wants people up there who she hired, and i'm getting to the point where i dont want to talk to anyone properly other than chris, who seems to be the only other person in the office who sees the people in there for the manipulative people they are. its all cr*p if you ask me!

but hey, only 2 more days til the weekend.

mary she should be happy yall got her a big ticket item that will be one less thing she has to buy on her own. I love gift cards but only bc the people who generally give them to me are people that would get me a gift that i would never use and would probably return like my stepdads mother she is a sweet woman and i appreciate it when she tries to get stuff she thinks i would like but she collects things that collect dust and i dont so now she gives me gift cards or money the last time she gave me a gift card i used it to buy my dvd camcorder so instead of sending her a thank you note thanking her for the GC i told her thank you for my DVD camcorder she was so happy. I dont like giving GC but there are some people that i know that are just too difficult to buy things for (they dont like anything you get them so i just will give them a GC and let them decide what they want) If it was me i would just be happy that my coworkers thought of me.
I showed my mom the New Moon trailer that they showed on the MTV movie awards and she has now decided that she is going to miss work and go see the midnight showing of it in November (and she said we were crazy for wanting to see it @ midnight) LOL i am never gonna let her live this down.

I have to apply to be accepted for the trip. They may look at how much Universal I've sold, which, compared to Disney isn't much. Nobody really does packages for Universal. They just want to buy tickets so they can go for a day or two while they're at Disney.

There's actually a Disney fam next week. I heard that one puts you in classes all day. I'm sure I'll do it eventually.

I saw the New Moon trailer. I flipped when I saw Jacob!

i've come to the conclusion that cleaning is bad for you, i cant stop sneezing......
well at least i got it done without gary getting in the way, he's gone to the cinema to see terminator salvation. it doesnt appeal to me at all so i said he can go without me if he wants. bless him though, he'd help with the cleaning but he does the man-clean, my parents are back next week (they live in spain) so i've gotta do a "proper" clean, and gary's not good at proper cleaning. he does try though, so i've gotta be grateful for that (he does the man-hoover thing, where he doesnt move stuff, just hoovers in the vague area round it!)

LOL about the man-hoover thing!! That is too funny!! Tim does help clean, but a lot of times he puts stuff where I can't find it then, or he throws away things that shouldn't be thrown away -- drives me kinda crazy, but at least he's trying to help!!

So, I just got an email back about a job that I applied for a while ago (like back in January I think), but never finished the appliation process -- usually if you don't send in your transcripts, they just ignore your application. They sent me an email and said that I am superior qualified for this job that pays like $30,000 more than what I make now -- OMG, that would rock!! I totally love my job (well, at least what my job SHOULD be), but for that much more money, I don't think I could pass! I'm getting ahead of myself, as they haven't even called me for an interview or anything and the government taked FOREVER and EVER to do anything, but still it was a nice surprise!! My SIL got a job working for the government, she applied for the job in the summer last year, then it took like 3 months to get called back, then like 4 months before she started!! Crazy!!

Jen, you will have to let us know if you get to do the trip!! That would be fun!! I'll be at Universal starting the 21st, but only for 2 or 3 nights, at Portifino Bay.

There is nothing official out for the fam yet so I can't sign up right now. All I know about it is that we'd stay at the Hard Rock. My boss mentioned it to me that she thought I should go if it wasn't too much trouble. She knows I'm going to Disney the following week. It'd be kind of nuts to go back and forth like that but it's a free trip! I think Joe would be slightly annoyed that I went without him (Disney & Universal is our thing) but...how can I pass it up? Technically, doing these fams is part of our job. I think there may also be one in Dec that takes you to all the Busch owned parks: Sea World, Aquatica, Discovery Cove, and Busch Gardens Tampa. I want to see if that gets announced because I've only been to 1 out of those 4 parks.
