9/23/06 Let's go!!!! Who's with us???

Our water is still purple. There has been some water construction going on in the building, so who knows what is up with it. Thankfully we are moving out of this facility in a month, so we won't have to wonder who is slipping the Kool-Aid in the water. I did drink some of it that had been filtered. We assumed it was OK, but upon closer inspection, it had a blue tint. I felt a little goofy for a while, but it passed. Now I know to avoid that tap.

Good morning everyone,

Well not much happening here today. I hope the port web cam will be up and running tomarrow so I can see the ship. :thumbsup2
This week is almost over which of course means we are that much closer to the cruise which is awesome. :woohoo:
Anyone decide on excursions yet?? :confused3 We are still trying to decide what we want to do. I dont swim so that eliminates a lot of excursions. We have done this same cruise last December and then we explored on our own and did the ruins tour at Costa Maya. This time it will be different because NO Costa Maya, but Cozumel instead. We have never been there, not sure what to expect with all the damage. A friend recently returned and said it was still all in ruins and very depressing to see. Also said the seas were rough on the tender boats and people did get sick. Although it was a short tender. I will have to think about that before we decide. I have read a few posts now about rough tendering there.
I would love to hear everyones thoughts on this and what you plan on doing there??

I have been struggling with excursion choices lately but so far I am leaning towards the Western Union Schooner day sail in Key West, the Nautilus Undersea Tour in Grand Cayman and the dolphin encounter in Cozumel. Our main factor is that it must be enjoyed by a three year old. I think those three would give us a good mix as well. We would spend the Castaway Cay day on the beach.

Veronica,
It sounds like you have a good plan there.
Is your submarine ride the one that submerges completely or the one that you dont go all the way under the ocean??
I think you will get to see lots of beautiful fish. I have read posts about both excursions and people gave them both high marks.

My new bedding for my guest room just arrived. Now I have to get busy and make the bed and with the new quilt and shams then hang the new drapes too. So I'd better get busy.

Have a great afternoon.

Hi everyone!

I finally caught the Wonder on the Twin Palms cam! That was so exciting. I can't belive how close th cruise is. I really have to get serious about losing some weight.

I'll be waiting around the house Saturday for my new mattress. We've only had our current one for 2 years, but it's killing my back! My mom works for Ashley Furniture, so we get a good discount. Now I'm eye balling my living room furniture. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Next week is the last week of school and the kids are starting to go crazy! I love that first week of summer. The kids are happy just to hang around the house and sleep in as late as they want. After the first week Mom's Taxi Service will be in full swing. :moped:

Thanks for the birthday greetings, yes, I went and got one year older. I've got to stop doing that! Dinner was good. Local rest. called Buzz's. Fresh salad bar with slices of ripe avacado, fresh pineapple chunks and green leaf lettuce. I ordered both the key lime pie and the coconut sorbet for us to share. Kids liked the pie best but I preferred the sorbet. My DH took just a few bites of the desserts, he prefers more mashed potatoes and bread.

Thanks for reminding me, Monica, of what means the most to me. Getting to stay home with my kids and homeschool them. It does make us sad when DH has to work crazy shifts or on the weekend but that is the trade off. He plans to make it up to me once he gets to go back to a normal work schedule. We have been looking into cameras, he plans to buy me one in the next few days. It will be so nice to have a working camera again :woohoo: !

Purple water sounds so "candid camera" like. I would have been looking around for the hidden camera and asking aloud if it was some sort of joke ;) . I think I would avoid that tap as well.

I looked at your newest photos Kathy. I enjoyed your pool deck art :thumbsup2 . Makes me want to jump right in your pool.

Hope you all have a great rest of the week. It is flying by for me. So much to do and get caught up on.......

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!!!

Another week is gone, and we are one week closer to the cruise :woohoo:

We are going to be the mid to upper 90's for the next few days. :sunny:

Heidi, glad you liked the pictures. With the heat we will be enjoying that deck a lot this weekend! :goodvibes

Scott, I hope your water is back to normal now. DH say at least here in Florida that purple is a toxic dye that plummer use when working on plumbing. DH works in the house construction business and has seen this many times over the years.

Well yesterday I got all my new bedding on the guest bed and with DH's help we got the new drapes up too. I have ordered lamps to match but it will be about a week before they arrive. Just a few pictures to hang and a few decorative knick knacks to set out and I will be done decorating that room. Then on to room 2. I am working my way through the house room by room now. That will help pass the time until we cruise.
Got the wallpaper border for the stairway now too, so will try to get that done soon too.

well have a great weekend everyone! If you get the chance, post a short note :surfweb: to keep us off the bottom of page 2! :sad2:

We are back to normal looking water. It was a dye used in some reconstruction.

I am so proud of my daughter. She saw a Royal Caribbean ship on TV and called it the Mickey ship and got excited. I know, the Disney geek in me shoulD be offended. But, the fact that she calls it a ship (not a boat!) made me proud. I don't know whY that is such a pet peeve of mine, but people call the ships boats all the time on the boards and onboard. We all hope to not experience the Mickey boats at seas - (unless we are tendering) as that means we are on the life boats. Me? I prefer to remain on the ship proper!

Happy weekend everyone. 96 degrees here, so we'll be looking to stay cool.

Hi Scott,
glad to hear the water is all cleared up now.
I am glad to hear your daughter is all excited to cruise!! :woohoo: We just wont tell Mickey that she saw RCCL and thought it was his ship! :rotfl2:
At least she has the right mind set to cruise. :thumbsup2

One time on board I accidentally said boat instead of ship and Donald Duck covered his ears and danced around circles shaking his head!! Boy was I embarassed :rotfl: I wont ever make that mistake again :rolleyes1

Happy saturday morning everyone!! :sunny:

I am just trying to keep us bumped up off page 2, it is about time for some more people to join our group :grouphug:
Our cruise is getting so close that I am surprised that we are such a small group still :confused3
But that has it's advantages too :thumbsup2
I can keep track of everyone without making out a huge list to try and memorize names. I am terrible with names, but great with faces  .

I know it may be a little early yet, but I want all of you to be thinking about having a cruise meet the first day. Just for 10 or 15 minutes so we can all meet and have faces to match with our names. For us, it has always been one of the biggest highlights of the cruise to meet people and then to see them around the ship all week and hear their stories of what they have been doing.

On our last few cruises we usually had our meet the first day in the Promenade lounge around 3:00 to 3:15 time slot.
The reason for this was you are suppose to be on the ship by 3, so everyone should be on board. Most people have found their rooms, checked in with the kids clubs and started exploring the ship. Plus that gives plenty of time before the safety drill at 4 p.m. The Promenade lounge is easy to find, lots of chairs and so far they have never had anything happening in there at that time where other areas of the ship are set up for doing other things.
If you wait til later that evening, most people are already too busy having a blast to want to stop for a meet, plus all areas of the ship are usually being used.
What are your opinions on this??? I am open for any suggestions and ideas you may have. :goodvibes This meet is for all of us, so lets hear any ideas out there??? :wizard:
I have spoken mine already. :woohoo:

Let me know what you think, time is flying by. :hourglass

Kathy

Sounds like you have done this before. I think that the time and location are good. DW, grandaughter, her friend and I will try to make it. As you say it is nice to put faces with some of these names.

Good morning everyone :goodvibes

Ok thats one vote for 3 in the promenade on the first day.
Any other opinions out there? :confused3

We want this to be at a time where everyone will have the chance to attend if they want to. :grouphug:

Let's hear some more ya's or nay's from you guys.

Only 4 months to go :thumbsup2

Kathy

It's been two weeks since Scott posted that he received his planning package. I still haven't gotten ours. Our we the only ones? I called DCL. The package was sent out. I don't know what's up with our travel agent not forwarding it to us. I emailed her.

I'm still looking for my scrabble buddy! Yoo hoo~

Good afternoon everyone,
I found us at the bottom of page two again! :confused3

We've got to keep us bumped up in order for people to find us and join in the fun. :woohoo:

Any more thought on the cruise meets suggestion??
I am waiting to hear from you :rolleyes1

Anybody else got their pirate outfits together or door signs finally done??

I'm still kicking around ideas for door signs. :goodvibes

I have my pirate outfit, but I may change the skirt to pants, not sure yet. I found out the deck is mighty windy for a skirt, especially when your bouncing up and down too. It almost made for an embarassing situation a couple of times!!

:wave2: Hi Monica.... I'm still here...Just have been SUPER :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc busy and soooooo not feeling well. :sad2: I did play querty the other day but didn't see you online. :confused3 We should pre-arrange to play late afternoon this Friday? Is that good for you? if so pm me and let me know... Say around 5pm my time [pacific time] :thumbsup2

I'm soooo glad that Scott had the purple water and not me... :) My kids would have been downing it by the gallons, thinking Mom was fibbing about it NOT being kool aid :lmao:

I have a question for all.... Dh, and all of us are going down on Thursday evening...so wanted to do something fun that Friday... we were thinking aobut doing Universal Studios... is it worth it? or what is something else that we could do? We have never been to Disney World... and dont' want to just spend a few hours for our first time there. ;)

Well, I need to get dinner going..having grilled hamburgers, fresh corn on the cob and homemade potato salad. I miss you all, will try to post more later this week...

Many :grouphug: and

Friday just might work! I think that's 8pm my time. I'm usually right here at the computer at that time of night. :cool1: Yahoo , okay? I didn't realize I wasn't signed it for several days, but I am now.

As for Universal, this is how Warren and I feel. If it weren't for the fact that the park was practically empty of guests so the wait time for rides and shows was between 2 to 30 minutes, it wouldn't have been worth the money. Don't get me wrong, for entertainment value and "wow" factor, Universal gets high marks. It's spectacular. The kids still talk about our visit and we all have happy memories. The problem is park hours were (and will be on September 22) 9-6. When you factor in the price of tickets, parking, and snacks or meals with the limited park hours, it comes out to some pricey and short-lived thrills. With the park practically empty, we were able to do almost all the rides and shows we wanted to. Did I remember you saying the twins weren't coming with you? If they are coming, there will be several attractions you won't want to miss that they will not be able to or want to be a part of. Leah was just about five when we went. It was frustrating for her to be too little or too young for a lot of the shows or rides. Kind of a waste of money for her. Since we were staying at my mom's nearby, we let my mom have her for the day when we went back for the second day of our two day pass.

kathy, no on the door sign. No on the pirate costume. We'll take care of those in the coming months.

Howdy,
The hours may be shorter at Universal in September, but also the crowds are down because most people are back in school, especially on a friday, so it is easy to do one park in those hours. Islands of adventure has all the thrill rides. Roller coasters, spiderman, Dr.Doom and Jurasic Park. You need to be advenrurous to do this side of the parks. The older side has everything to do with the movies. There is one great coaster there called the Mummy. Most of the rides there are fun and some are interesting(educational for movies), but not thrill type rides. Terminator 4D show is AWESOME. It has real people and 3 D effects. Both sides are great and can be done easily in a day. The side you choose to do is according to your tastes in rides. we go there quite often, we have annual passes. :lmao:
Sea World is also a one day adventure which is close by. They just announced a new Shamu show 2 weeks ago too. :woohoo: They have one coaster called Kraken which is great fun. If you do this, go to it first thing when the park opens and sometimes you can ride it around 3 or 4 times without having to get off if you want to.
You are right not to try WDW in a day. You CANT see it all in a week.
You could do one of their water parks if you wanted to in a day easily. :goodvibes
Kennedy Space center is a great way to spend a day too. ;) I am not much into space stuff, but I loved this place when we went. Plus it is near the port if you want to spend the night at cocoa beach you would be all set for the cruise and the space center. It will take all day to see this too. No thrill rides here, but tons of great stuff to do. One tip if you do this attraction. As with all places be there when it first opens and do the bus tour portion first!! That will take all morning, then return to the main part of the center in time for lunch there and then spend the afternoon seeing everything on that end of the center.
There are other things to do too, but these are the major ones in the area, if you dont mind driving a little farther there is Busch gardens too. It is a neat place to go too. :teeth:
We have been to all the places I have mentioned many times, so if you have any specific questions about any of them, please ask and I will try to answer them for you.

Any thoughts about the cruise meets suggestion I posted a few days ago? :confused3 We need more feed back on it from everyone so we can get something set up for sure. :thumbsup2

Have a great day everyone,
kathy

I am sorry - I was out of pocket over weekend and yesterday, so I did not do much to bump us up.

Promenade sounds like a good location. I cannot promise we'll make it. With a 4 year old, we'll be at her whims. I have to imagine the first day on board will be a whirlwind of squeals and giggles and a short attention span while she absorbs all the new stuff.

We will be at the port early if all works as planned, so if there are some of you arriving early, we can bump into one another and meet then.
