9/19/09 Western Magic

Got my stateroom assignment today with the rest! It's 6055, cat 11. Not really sure what to expect as this is our first cruise, but from looking at the layout of the ship (and being positive), it looks like it's a good deck, and right in the middle of the ship. Don't know how that will be for noise?? But it should be good for getting around, right? Almost literally midship........:confused3 If anyone knows anything about this cabin/deck, etc., let me know!

Yay to everyone on just finally having a "home" on the ship now! :cheer2:

On to packing now...........:yay:

Hello Neighbor! We are close in 6052 and our friends are in 6054 and 6058! We will be running into you alot I'm sure :cool1:

Hello Everyone!

I have all of the updated Stateroom #'s changed on the FE List and am just waiting for ChrisLei so hope to hear something soon. I will wait until the weekend and then PM the list and get it LoriS for the Yahoo Group!

Congratulations to everyone who got the upgrades they were hoping for!

Can't believe we are almost 3 weeks away from Boarding the Magic! Cannot wait!

:cool1::dance3::yay::woohoo::dance3:

Aww, thanks so much for the sweet wishes...sadly, I was laid off yesterday. Well, in all honesty, as previously mentioned i did NOT like my job and it gave me a lot of stress, so while it is rather inconvenient to be laid off 2 weeks before my wedding (further proof my boss is a doodoo head, lol) I ma glad to be free of the stress and my DH to be is even happier as he has "his holly back". So, we are trying to relax, enjoy our last few weeks as an unmarried couple and have fun with last minute planning, get married, go on our honeymoon and then come back in jump into the unemployment game! I am actually hoping to become a Disney TA, and any pixie dust you guys can send our way would be much appreciated as we are now both unemployed!

On a happier note, congrats to all of you on your upgrades :) Very exciting!!! I believe Paige or Kim suggested we put all of our info on one list so I will help out by giving you everything i can about us, lol:

Steven (24) and Holly (26) Hynes
from New Hampshire
in WDW at WL from 9/14-9/19
on DCL from 9/19-9/26
celebrating our honeymoon and Steven's 25th birthday on 9/25
cabin 7596
late dining
atending MNSSHP on tues the 15th

So, aside form our social security numbers you should now know more about us then you'd ever care to know, lol.

My deepest sympathies to disneyfinatics for your loss. Our thoughts are with you. I hope that this cruise will help you all to grieve and process. Hugs.

Hope everyone is as excited as we are. I can't wait to meet you all, Steven is very curious about all you "online disney people". ;)

Holly:bride:

Holly...so sorry! Please put all that behind you and enjoy this special time.I have another word for your boss but I will not post it here!
Things will be as they should be and I hope you find an awesome job upon returning. I am sending tons of pixie dust to you...tonsn it should be coming down like snow on your head

We will be there!!! we will be at MK all day, take a break in the afternoon and then head back for MNSSHP around 5 or 6 :) Would love to meet up for a quick chat and hello :)

Since I was looking at photos to add to the yahoo group I came across this. I woke up one morning and heard voices on the balcony, so got up to check it out. It was Brooklyn and Tony having one of their early morning conversation( they have a lot of these). I grabbed the camera next to me and took a picture, they did not even know that I was there. She is a very special Daddy's little girl like I have never seen in my life.

Here is the picture

DISNEY_JAN31ST-FEB_15TH_2008_39_.JPG

I sent a bunch of the pictures to my Mom. She picked out this one and had a painting made for DH for Christmas....and had it titled " Daddy's girl"

DSC_00041.JPG

Oh, my gosh! I'm with Kim - that brought tears to my eyes......how precious!! And totally spontaneous.......all the sweeter!

5 weeks at Disney was awesome. We stayed on our Vacation points and for those of you who are not members and are debating it,,, it truly is the best thing we have ever done for our family. In fact we added on again while we were there.
Denise, we have to have an umbrella drink whilst you explain the ins and outs of DVC...after dealing with "The Shark Tank" of timeshare hawkers at Puerto Vallarta airport, on the streets of PV, from the PV taxi driver and inside our hotel at PV :headache: I have little tolerance for listening to a professional timeshare goon--even if they are very nice Disney CMs.

The only palm tree she has ever seen has been at the mall or on a TV show and I can't wait to see her face when we arrive in Florida.
You should send them on that crazy drive with mamajojo and family! :teeth: Maybe then they'll be able to see some gators out on the road...but they better look quick since mamajojo has to make time and get to the port so she'll probably run that gator down and turn it into a full line of shoes, handbags and assorted belts! :lmao:

OOHHH I can defiantly join this club. I have two brand new, very ugly, large surgical scars and I am taking 15 pills a day. I also can not fit into any of my clothes, since I have been sick since January and haven't been able to work out, PLUS my stomach is so swollen I look like I am 6 months pregnant. I meet all of the criteria
Oh yeah! You and self-injector lady are most welcome! 15 pills? FINALLY someone who takes more than I do! pirate:

MY DH favorite thing to say is "She saves me so much money I"m broke!"
:lmao: :thumbsup2

ds and I burn...easy :beach:hence all the sunscreen...I got burned while I was in GA under an umbrella at my brother's pool! I actually think the burn made me sick! And I have been so itchy! :headache:
---
yes, dh and I can have the map ready by the 9th :thumbsup2....I was planning on bringing it and handing it out in the port...but whatever works for the group is cool!:cool2: I will ask LoriS to post it on the yahoo group!! That saves me from having to email it to everyone ;) if you do not have access to the yahoo group LMK!
FYI The Environmental Working Group has a comprehensive website that reviews 100s of sunscreen products.
http://www.ewg.org/whichsunscreensarebest/2009report

Of course the best ranked sunscreens are from the I’ve-never-heard-of-these-people  type companies. But many of the mass market brands do have some good items.

We just bought sunscreen for the cruise using their information: Water Babies Pure & Simple for the baby, Coppertone Kids for DS, Coppertone Ultra SPF 70 for me, Sport for DW and some sunscreen sticks for DS’ face to make sure we don’t get it near his eyes.

I just got him some nice flip flops last night for the cruise, and he refused to wear them. He doesn't like the little thing that goes between your toes.....:rolleyes1 So he wears these brown tennis shoes, untied, with every casual outfit......:sad2: oh, well, I tried! He did agree to wear the kind you just slip your foot into.....that has a band that goes across the top of your foot :confused3 I can't understand that....I LIVE in flip flops, sometimes even in the winter when I can get away with it!
You would get along with my coworkers from NM…the rocket and laser scientists. Do you have a PhD in physics? Or at least a double masters in engineering and astrodynamics?

With all due respect to Jimmy :hippie: I’m not a fan of flip-flops either, toe thingy notwithstanding. Well, if you’re going to try and change him (fess up and admit it) then how about some alternatives? I love my Keen Newport H2s…wore them most of the time for port calls, the beach etc. They’re comfy, cool and waterproof. No, I don’t wear socks with them…

:wizard:pixiedust:
I've been laid off before...come into work one day as usual only to find out 1/3 of the facility was terminated just like that. At leas we got 60 days... A guy I work with is evaluating his options after getting a RIF notice. He's being a little picky right now because he has to make sure his next gig will cover his partner under his benefits. Otherwise he'll take a money grub, er, contractor ;) position: absolutely no benefits--no group health plan, no vacation accrual, no sick leave, no personal days, no vision plan--just a straight salary of $80/hour and $120/hour for overtime. They estimate 50-60 hours per week. 9-12 months contract.

He would be responsible for obtaining his own benefits (medical, dental, vision etc). Actually, he will get "vacation". After accumulating one man year of 2,080 billable hours (80 hours/pay period X 26 biweekly pay periods) they will cut him a check for one 40 hour week of pay. So, it's up to him to either take a week off or not and essentially get paid for an extra week.

A wedding, honeymoon and trip with some nutty Internet pals ought to get you fixed up! pirate:

Since yonkersgirl is waiting for a reply from chrislei I think we should wait until the weekend for her response.:faint: if she gets no response don't you think we should add a cabin to replace them?:rolleyes1....

:mic: you know my opinion on waiting for a response from someone who has not posted on the DIS boards since 7-17-08 in the morning really seems to be a lost cause and a waste of our effort JMHO:mic:

Jonesing/Gabbie cabin #8528
Disneyfanatics cabin #6548
SO THIS MEANS IF YOUR CABIN CHANGES WHILE YOU ARE IN THE PORT (and you are taking part in the 1st FE) YOU WILL HAVE TO GO TO BOTH CABINS AND POST/WRITE YOUR NEW CABIN # so we know where you are receiving your FE gifts??? right???
worship::worship::worship::
Thanks!!!!
let me know if either of you have changed your mind on doing this for us!!!

Yep! We will have a spot for people to indicate their DIS ID and NEW ROOM NUMBER (only, everyone already has the old number on their lists). The list will be titled "UAP" or some such thing (Upgraded at Port). Not sure if we'll have it as a whiteboard--thus inviting vandals to write/erase anything--or a paper pad. Of course we'll have to have a word of mout campaign if we upgrade at the port!

23 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still no cruise docs, but not concerned about that. As long as I can get on the ship!!!

Looking forward to meeting all of you. I haven't been an active daily poster so please don't be shy when you see a strange old lady at the Promenade Lounge Saturday afternoon. I am not shy!!!

Someone mentioned DVC and the CMs who explain it. We cannot speak highly enough about DVC and the CMs. I, too, was skeptical the first time we were introduced to DVC in 1997. We didn't buy then, but bought on the Magic in 2001. We wish we would have bought in 1997. You'll hear many DVCers say this if they didn't buy the first time. The best benefit, for me, is being able to vacation with our kids and grandkids through DVC.

Anyway, have a great weekend everyone. Happy packing.

Jan

great thanks! my thought was it may be helpful to have old cabin number (to ensure you are changing the correct person) some of our DIS id can be close to one another so you may find that the number would be easier to change for accuracy...easy to mark off the wrong cabin if you are an excited Magic cruiser.

But hey whatever works - as long as YOU (jonesing) are willing to take the heat from children who did not get their FE's because it is your  bright idea not to include the old cabin number :rotfl2:!
Seriously, thank for agreeing to post the list!

I know I am probably in the minority here, but we are not doing FE(or the bracelets although I MIGHT be able to convince him at the port if there are any spares) .. is it okay that we put out our cabin number too? I do plan on putting something Lime Green on the door. I just have to remember to get magnetic sheets first to mount it!

I have visions of a Mickey head with maybe our Names or maybe I will steal the P.I.R.A.T.E.S. theme...

John and I( Dawnmarie) are in 7622 and so far no upgrades heheheh. It was our originally assigned cabin back in February.

We had a bit of a scare last week. see, I cannot drive( medical issues) and since the car sat for eight months, the brake pads got all locked up and the battery gave up the ghost. at first we thought it was too far gone but in the end it only cost us a thousand dollars. Now, while that means a few less umbrella drinks it DOES mean we can still afford the cruise *Phew*. while we do need and are planning for a new car we did NOT want to buy one less than 6 months from moving to Okinawa, where we cannot bring a car over.

Sorry to hear about your job. You have a great attitude about it and I am sure you will end up with something much better. I will send some pixie dust too you!

Thank you, to you and to Kim. I love this picture. They have these great conversations all of the time and this captures it. I have truly never seen a bond like the two of them have. It is so special. It was such a sweet thing that my Mom had this painted and it makes me smile everytime that I look at it.

Ummmm, NO! But maybe I should work on it, because I do love my flip flops!

He actually does have some TEVAs, but I just wanted him to have something he could slip into real quickly. Even with the tevas, he still wears those silly looking brown tennis shoes! (I actually think I bought those for him....hmmmmm) Anyway, I would try to change him if I thought I could, but the flip flop thing is a no go! But I did get him the other kind last night, so we'll see. The rubbery material kind that just has a band that goes over the top of your foot (no "between the toe thong thingy"). He is out of town until tonight, so we'll see. Those should do the trick!
