Totally OFF TOPIC but just needed to vent and seek advice.
I am soooo bummed. Target had a Sony A200K DSLR camera on clearance that I wanted for our DS17's upcoming birthday. He is very into photography but we are very into keeping our budget so it was a win-win situation. They camera was on clearance for an unbelivable $349 dollars (lense included) Now I know next to nothing about cameras/photography but I knew a deal when I saw it. I "negotiated" with the employee, very nice kid actually to hold it for 24 hours for me (guess they are not suppose to hold clearance stuff) so I could bring my son back to take a look at it and so I could ask him if it was a good deal/camera whatever. My first major mistake.

Note to self: do not trust employees who could care less if an item is gone when you return. ugh. I was sick. BUT we live exactly half way between nowhere

and right between everywhere

so I convinced my DH and son (who had had no dinner) to hightail it 70 miles, past our house we had just driven 35 plus miles away from an additional 35 miles to the other Target b/c I called and they said they had one! This happened to be a friday night in the summer on a heavily trafficed beach route

It was such a good deal though. . .
Got to the other Target and the camera is right there on display!

We start to examine it and ask for the lense which I assume is under the counter in a box. "Oh no, this camera does not come with a lense" Excuse me? The K in it's model number indicates it most certainly does and I just saw it less then 48 hours ago at this other Target with a lense attached? No, no, you ar wrong, no lense. Oh well, could you just check under the counter or in the back please? sure, sure I can do that. And you do know that since we just have the floor model left it is an addtional 30% off that price? Well, now we are getting somewhere.
30 full minutes later and two hungry men later, the floor clerk says, sorry no lense, no box, no deal. I'll call my manager and see if she can make a deal for you. The manager decides she will look herself. Nope, nothing in the back and she is certain her store never carried this camera with a lense no matter what another Target did. Okay, Can we just make a deal here? We will take the camera w/o the lense. Give me a price. Oh no, you can't have it. I can return it and get a full credit for it? Otherwise you pay the $349 price? What about the 30% off. Oh, well I can't give you that tonight. I then ask for her manager. She gets someone another 20 minutes later and obviously has called in back up for her story. (aka

utright lie)
UGH!!!! so frustrated. The clerk is really sorry he drug us down, is trying to be nice, is willing to call other Targets for me but the manager tells him, no, they have to call on their own!
We leave camera-less to find most restaurants closed by now, eat at Pizza Hut with terrible service, and suck it up. DS has decided all he wants for his birthday is a nice camera, nothing else.
We then decide to call on our own. No one has one left. They are a great deal you know. SHUT UP ALREADY. We then travel to WashDC for a couple of days and proceed to stop at not one, not two but three Targets we spot along the way, no camera.
Can anyone just tell me I did not just lose my only chance at an affordable DSLR camera? he so wanted one. He has a little digital thing and he has taken some awesome pics with it but he is ready to move on. I am sooo cueless. Every pic I have posted on this thread? Has been taken with my Blackberry phone! I don't even own a camera. I have checked craigslist for something used. Not ebay, little leary about that yet. he wants to feel/ touch/play with it before we buy it. Everything new is $450 to $500 minimum and up. To far out of my reach right now.
Anyway, thanks for listening. I really wanted a camera in his hands before we sail as I think it will make a huge difference in his enjoymetn level of the cruise.
