Thinking about booking the 19 September cruise.. it just happens to be our anniversary, and we can't afford to go anywhere this year, so we are thinking of doing a cruise next year.

I must say, though, I am little concerned about the prices.. the cruise site is quoting me under $3000 for the two of us for a partial view balcony(navigator's veranda) is that right?! It's telling me the price is for the entire party in the stateroom, but I am so used to cruiselines telling you multiple times that the price is per person..and I was always under the impression that Disney was one of the more expensive lines out there.. but I paid MORE than that for our 7 night Mexican Riviera cruise on another line a couple of years ago for a comparable room.

could it be that I was mistaken and I could have been eating at Palos for years already?!

Right now the prices for this cruise are great! I'm not sure why. But I do expect they will go up soon. Over all Disney is usually more expensive than other lines. They don't have a casino to make money from, and they tend to not sell as much liquor as other lines. Add to that the cost of all the Youth Activities counselors, and you can see why they'd need to charge more. But like most things, if you look for a good deal on Disney, you can find one.

If you are interested in this cruise, I'd suggest booking now as the prices will definitely be going up!

Agreed with Wendy.. Book NOW!! The prices are GREAT!!

sent my request in to the Unlimited website. DH even said he'd float the leave chit THIS year and pointedly remind his boss that last year they sat on it too long and we missed out on the cruise we had wanted to go on. I figure we can pay it off during the next year and not be pressed to come up with fundage right away.

and of course, making sure there is a military clause in the insurance. cuz with my luck he'll be deployed....

Oooh let's Hope not.. :wizard: Maybe we can hide him and say he must of Ran away.. ;) Nice to have you with us..

:thumbsup2

going UA is BAD and could result in him losing that nice big promotion he is up for. Since I already have plans for the payraise, he'd better behave .heheheheheh

if worse comes to worse, I will find some poor soul who needs a break and take them with me....My girlfriend who just found her recently retired DH is going BACK to the sandbox as a contractor next year.....

and deposit DOWN!!!

so do I book the Romance at sea thingy now through the DU site or the Disney site? I figure the OBC makes it free with enough left over to pay for some piccies....

Contact DU to add the REAS to your reservation. This will also allow you to book Palo and other ressies 105 days out, as long as you are paid in full. :thumbsup2

We are thinking of booking this when we are onboard the westbound PC repo in May. :yay:

Just wanted to pop-in and say "hi". :lovestruc (and bump you back up to page one) ;)

Another pretty much maybe checking in. We are doing a 4 day cruise with kids in Sept. It's our first cruise and if we don't hate it :rotfl2: we'll book onboard for this one to celebrate our 10th anniversary without the heathens, er, I mean, kids.

Welcome Aboard!
How old will your DD be at sailing? Mine will be turning 11 on the cruise.

Wendy

My daughter will be 10 at the time of sailing. My son will be 6 just shy of 7.

I just found a OLD (series E) Savings bond that has stopped accruing interest. it will pay off the cruise in one shot.. But I had already budgeted where the cruise money was coming from, same with my student loans.. BUT we are putting a deck in this summer(hence the reason we can't afford to go anywhere this year).

So, conundrum:

Pay off cruise waaaayyyy early
-
or
-
Pay 1/13(yes we calculated it out) of the SL now(grace period ends September) and save maybe a couple hundred bucks in interest in the long run
-
or
-
add the Bond to the funds set aside for the deck, and either upgrade the deck or borrow less. The deck will add about $35-50k to the value of the house, allowing us to lose PMI quicker.

Decisions, decisions.......:headache:

Or reinvest. Security prices are way down right now, so it's a good time to buy!

well, it appears as if His Squidness will be deploying after all. he just volunteered to do a 12 month IA, which would get him back just before the cruise( he did at least double check the dates before volunteering, most likely to save himself being drawn and quartered by a VERY irate wife)

so, in addition to the REAS package, would there be anything else that you would recommend as a MUST do? I was thinking either a couples massage or even just a spa day for him in addition to Palos and any excursions we might do.
