9/19/09 Western Magic

Hi guys! I haven't been around in a while, and I'm reading to catch up:surfweb: My birthday is on Sept. 15th....maybe we'll do something the first night...cake anyone? :yay:

WOW, you got a heck of a deal! But, ouch on the money. I am in the same boat with my tires. Why do big money things have to come with the holidays?! Last year was all dental for us, this year it is automotive stuff. Off to go check and see if that site you mentioned does tires!

I got my tires at Sam's Club, and they had a sale with a % off plus a mail in rebate. I just had to pay $1k for brakes on our car :scared1: That would have paid off half of what we still owe on the cruise :sad2:

Oh OUCH! We checked Costco and they wanted $558.00.:scared: I got a little panicky with that one. I guess it will be a early Christmas present to ourselves. I wonder if I should save the old ones and wrap those for under the tree?:rotfl2:

Hi Kirsten's Mommy! Cool, another celebration. I'm starting to think we need to go with a group name like "The Birthday Buccaneers" or "The Celebrating Swashbucklers." :rotfl:

Hi! I haven't read everything, lol. Did we ever decide if we're going to have a meet on board?

Isn't that so true, about that stuff coming right at Christmas. We also just had to put two new tires on my DH's truck. Even at Sam's 2 of them cost us $300.

There is a Black Friday ad for Sears that shows some tire deals that I think people said were pretty good. It says "all tires on sale." Might be worth checking out the ad scan. Also buy 4 Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear or BF Goodrich tires Friday a.m. and get an instant $60 Sears giftcard. Some of the Goodyears have cash back by mail, also. If you can't find it, let me know and I can email you a copy if you like.

Hi! I haven't read everything, lol. Did we ever decide if we're going to have a meet on board?

Yonkrs_Girl suggested the Promenade Lounge after the last dinner seating on our first sailing night, which sounds fine to me, but so far we haven't formally set anything up. :)

With all the birthday's, mine is October 2, but I figured I was going to let my girls get all the celebrating since both of theirs are during the cruise. I like the celebration names for the group. :)

Your awesome Melissa, thanks for the info!:thumbsup2 I like the BF deal with the gift card. I don't know if I want to wait until then or not. I noticed that Thanksgiving is coming too fast, and like an idiot, I booked a road trip to Disneyland for the first week in December.:scared1: The days following up to Thanksgiving and right after, I am doing a holiday shop at DD school. So next week is my only time-sorry thinking out loud:laughing:
I think the Promenade Lounge meet sounds great. WAOHOO- 10 months. Definately have to get a name for ourselves, in case some of us (meaning me), might actually get a crafty thought in my head and create something!

BTW-wish me luck on Thanksgiving, I decided I am doing the dinner and have 14 people coming. The last time I made a turkey, I had just gotten married and burnt it to a crisp:scared1:. My family is willing to let me try again after 16 years! I will definately need faith, trust and pixie dust that night!
We have a lot of celebrations this cruise!!:dance3:
How about the Celebrating Pirates take over the Western? Even if there are some that don't have a birthday, there has to be something in their lives to celebrate-even just being on the Magic is a reason to celebrate:cloud9:

Good luck! My first turkey was a disaster too, and I haven't tried again yet! We're going over to my parent's this year, and there's lots of family "drama" going on this year, so I'll need some of that dust too please ;)

How old is your dd? The reason I ask is I have two that will be on the cruise, one will be 9 and one will be 2, and the older one would love it if she had someone to hang out with in the kid's clubs.

LOL, we're doing it again. And we've added a whole page to the DIScussion this morning (geez, I'm just full of them, lol).

That place looks amazing! Bet you will have a wonderful time. Please do post pics.

Have a GREAT bday celebration!

Sounds like a lot of fun, I love the tiara, enjoy yourself.

Deb, have a WONDERFUL time :goodvibes  Sure hope you post some pics for us :thumbsup2

Kathe

I understand that for sure! Sometimes I can't even remember to stop at the mailbox in front of my house.

Kathe, I don't think that's cheating. :) If it is, quite a few of us are cheating, lol. Truly, DCL doesn't care. They do stuff for people like that all the time.

Karen, I'm all for a grown up bday party! Although, it's not my bday... Oh well, I'll be the proxy for my daughter. :woohoo:

Since you are a deal person like me (and for any of the rest of you out there) here's an example of why I check Slickdeals fairly regularly. Our washer and dryer are terrible, the washer eats clothes and the dryer's thermostat has never been right. Someone posted a Sears ad that had a front loading Samsung washer/dryer set tomorrow night for $899. People were getting Lowe's to price match. I like Lowe's, we buy just about everything for the house there, so I printed the stuff out and took it down there. They sell the washer for $798 and the dryer for $748. They price matched it, plus an extra 10% and I got the whole set for $810 plus tax. They DID look at me like I was nuts when I first showed them the ad, though. Now if I could just figure out where I'm coming up with that money...

Deb, can't wait to see your pictures! Please post about your day when you get a chance. :)

Thanks eveybody for all your well wishes....we had a great time. Here's some pictures.

Here's where we ate brunch.

I had a scone, fruit, quiche, bacon, turkey croquet, hash brown potatoes and vanilla cake with coconut cream frosting.

Since I am a devot member of the Champagne Girls, the bubbly was flowing. We drank the glass that was included and then ordered a bottle of Korbel Brut.

When they brought out desert, they sang happy birthday to me because they overheard us doing a cheers and wishing me happy birthday....so they sang and it was a complete surprise. I wished to win lotto! Ha ha ha!

All in all, it was a great day and a wonderful kick off for my birthday....which is on Tuesday.

Well Deb, as usual we seem to be posting at the same time... I honestly don't hang out here ALL day, lol.

Thanks for posting... I LOVE pictures! That place looks amazing. And the food sounds marvelous. Mmmmm! Love your dress, tiara and matching silver polish. What a great way to celebrate. Thanks again for sharing!

I can't believe we keep doing this. That makes twice now.....yesterday and today. So funny!

I talked to John and he says he would be happy to work on some graphics when we pick a name.

John and I will be celebrating too. It will be our 19th anniversary on Sept. 29th. It's close enough. We'll have cake on the last night with the birthday people.

Promenades sounds good for our meet. Right after late dinner??? Is that correct??? On our first night??? We'll be there.

How about.....Partying Pirates Play on the Magic.

We'll think of some more.

Okay, this is a little too weird, lol. I was just going to post the suggestions "Partying Pirates" or "Partying Privateers." Get outta my head, would ya? :lmao: Also thinking of "Celebrating Scoundrels" or "Celebrating Swashbucklers" -- can you tell I'm into alliteration? LOL. Come on, all you creative people... we can do this!
