9/16-10/3 The trip that dreams are made of....

That's terrible that aladdin got sick on the last day and missed Castaway Cay. Still love this report! I actually have been looking into trying the Land sea for 2007 for our family. By then DS will be old enough for kids club. Reading posts about all the sick people on the cruise board is scaring me though. Can't wait for the rest!

I know what you mean!! Before I left for the trip (both times we cruised with Disney) I read all about the sickness going around etc....BUT...AFTER taking the cruise and then coming back to WDW I was actually feeling "dirty" at WDW as they didn't give out hand wipes at every single meal/activity, have a pump full of hand sanitizer around every corner or have someone squirting liquid soap on the kids' hands and then directing them to a sink as they arrived at the kid's areas. I know in a contained situation you can have sickness spread like wildfire...BUT...rest assured...Disney does everything possible to try and prevent an outbreak.

And at least as far as "Aladdin" getting sick, his was a migraine. He always gets "stomach sick" if we don't catch it in time to get his meds in him before he starts the pain part. And this time, dh hadn't been able to get back to ship and then to the room with him quickly enough. However, being on a cruise ship we didn't want to take any chances...so when he started feeling better after the dinner hour we still kept him "confined" to the cabin. Not because he really needed it but because we wanted to be double sure that nobody else would catch it on the off chance that it was a virus and not just a really bad bout with his migraines.

I think that most people are good enough to do that for others....to be careful if they think they might be contagious. At least I would hope so  ;) . Then again...there are all types in this world! :confused3

I promise...if you go on a DCL cruise you will come back feeling "dirty" in any other situation! Even after we got home...I seriously put a hand sanitizer pump in our kitchen to use on our way to the table!! They put the habit that solidly in our minds!! And my boys have always been "good" with handwashing...but it went to another level after the cruise!!

Whoo Hooo! Another amazing installment!! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful trip! Your kids are so adorable Hmmmm your son Aladin is how old?? My DD is 10 Hmmm do you believe in arranged marrraige??? :rotfl: :rotfl2:  :lmao:
OH YES I DO!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: My poor boys...I have been threatening to arrange their marriages for the past oh...almost 10 years ;)

Since I see you are from WI let me assure you that ds10 was born in WI and is being raised the right way...meaning he is a die hard Packer fan! :lmao:

It was a wonderful trip...it was my dream trip. It is the time of year we plan next year's vacation (we always tell the kids on New Year's Day what we will be doing the coming year) and I am having a hard time not wanting to just book the same thing again this next year...but dh would not go for another super long Disney only vacation again so soon...he puts up with Disney but is not hooked the way I am...so I am hoping for "some" time at Disney and then another trip...but how will I possibly "deal" with only a week? :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I am SO spoiled rotten and I know it! I just wish I could do this vacation all over again! It was truly magical...in every way! :)

A few more GREAT installments!

You are by far my favorite trip report! I love all the pictures and great detail about what you did and how it went! I got the Disney-goosebumps when you were talking about Teddy and Elsa and how they went out of their way to make Aladdin feel as good as possible.

It's so great to hear how many great events they have for the family - to do together and for the kids to do great things so us adults can have some alone time. I always wondered how that worked and if there would be enough fun things for them to do without us and your report has most definitely done away with that fear!

Can't wait to hear the rest! We are currently preparing to move the first of the year to a different state and your TR is a nice bit of relaxation among the stress!

Thanks and waiting to hear more!!! :Pinkbounc
UGH...the stress of a big move! Four and a half years ago we moved cross country. That was a BIG change...and at first, it was really hard...but now, I wouldn't trade where we have made our home for anything else in the world! I love our new area and the weather and the people and it's just been a very good thing...the actual move however, that stunk big time...so :grouphug: for you!!

And  thanks for saying that my modest little (or big since I go on and on sometimes  ) trip report is relaxing! :):):)

The cruise has so many things to do it's never been a problem (in 2000 or in 2006) as to what we "could" do...our only problem has been which ones we "would" do!! We still haven't taken part in all that we would have liked to and it was so hard to chose between all of the great choices...it was also hard to get our boys OUT of the kid's clubs to spend time with us as a family  . I never thought I would have to beg my children to rejoin our family   :lmao:

And Elsa and Teddy were wonderful   !! I kid you not...my children have sent letters to Teddy and Elsa!! And even gotten a postcard in return!! Seriously...where else but Disney do you become attached to your servers and cleaners??

That was a great installment! Poor Aladdin, missing the last night! That is so sweet that the staff was so good to him. Only at disney would you see that kind of fantastic service! Plenty of Pixie dust for you guys!! cant wait for the rest of the trip!
OH OH OH...I see you are going to spend Valentine's Day at WDW with your boyfriend!! HOW ROMANTIC!! Please be sure to write a trip report!!

And I could be (should be!!) a paid commercial for Disney...I think that their service is second to none!! I LOVE DISNEY!! :wizard:

Up later tonight...checking in to the Poly! The dream vacation continues

Poor "Aladdin". It's so hard to get sick on vacations! But what impeccable service! Teddy and Elsa both sound amazing. If I ever take a cruise I'm going to be looking for them! It sounds like you had a great time. I do have a question for you. If you could only spend a week at the parks, or a week on a Disney Cruise which would you choose?

Since I see you are from WI let me assure you that ds10 was born in WI and is being raised the right way...meaning he is a die hard Packer fan!

Alright! Go Pack! Glad to hear that!! :thumbsup2

What an amazing TR! :goodvibes I've never been on a Disney cruise before, and now I want to more than ever! Sorry your son wasn't feeling well at the end of your cruise. I can't wait to read about the rest of your trip back in WDW! Wow! What a vacation!!!

Happy Holidays!

Oh man.. its all I think about. I am OBSESSED. Im a senior in highschool and spend all of first period on DIS or another Disney website. I've planned the whole trip myself - my parents think I should be a travel agent. It is going to be super romantic and I have already began writing my trip report in my head so dont you worry! I'll be a writing a trip report, a dining report and any other report I can come up with! .. Yay I cant wait for you to check into the Poly! I want to stay there sometime!!

This is the most amazing trip report I have read! :cool1:

Can't wait to hear about the rest of the trip! Hopefully "Aladdin" Doesn't end up with another migraine. I am like him, if it's not caught soon enough, I go into the "sick" stage. Not fun at all! :sad1:

Waiting at the edge of my seat for the next installment! :Pinkbounc

I am in the process of uploading the next set of pictures and finding my travel journaling that I joted down to remember certain things...a new installment should be up by the end of the weekend. Thanks for reading along! :teeth:

Back to the World...Post Cruise Day 1-Sat./Sept 30

Sadly we awoke and found ourselves back at Port Canaveral...we could have stayed another full week (or two!!) on the Magic and been perfectly contented!! Lucky for us Aladdin was back to his healthy and happy self and the rest of us were doing a-okay as well...it had just been a really bad migraine and that was great news...nobody else would be getting sick!!

Upon getting ready we talked about it and then chose to skip breakfast and disembark right away in order to get back to WDW early in the morning. We just didn't have the heart to stay any longer...we were really dreading getting off of the ship and we figured the best way to do it would be quick and right away...sort of like ripping a band aid off.

We made it back by about 10:00 AM. Our next stop (once back to the happiest place on earth) was the Polynesian. We had wanted to try the Poly for as long as we have been going to Disney together (about 8 years now of yearly vacations) but as of yet, we had not tried it. So we figured why not go ahead and try it out!! It's on the monorail and it's on our wish list...so here we go!!

When we pulled up it was beautiful...a real island oasis...lucky for us, found right in FL at WDW. In to the Great Ceremonial Hall (aka the lobby) we walked. It was beautiful too. Here are the boys posing in front of an indoor waterfall.
aftercruise243.jpg

aftercruise244.jpg

Since we would be checking in on September 30 we would be getting our second crack at free dining! :cool1: Being that we were checking in on the last day of the promotion it would run for our entire stay!! :cool1: At check in we didn't have the friendliest CM (I even had to ASK for my lei (and the rest of the family's too) but we made the best of it and since our room was not yet ready, went to check out the rest of the lobby. Here are some of the pictures we took:

The first ones are an homage to our dearly missed (yep after just under two hours we were already "missing" it) DCL vacation:

aftercruise234.jpg

aftercruise235.jpg

Up next we explored some of the stores:

aftercruise236.jpg

aftercruise239.jpg

aftercruise240.jpg

aftercruise241.jpg

And a few more shots of the boys enjoying the lobby:
aftercruise245.jpg

aftercruise246.jpg

After exploring the lobby we all started to feel our choice to skip breakfast on the Magic. Poor Aladdin was really feeling it since he had eaten so little the day before. So we headed over to Captain Cook's in it's temporary location (during the remodel). Along the way "Goofy" and "Stitch" stopped to smell some flowers.
aftercruise247.jpg

aftercruise248.jpg

When we finally arrived at Captain Cook's...boy...was it SMALL!! But it had the basics (tonga toast and breakfast platters...yum) and we were able to purchase (we paid OOP instead of wasting a CS credit) a fairly appealing breakfast. We were lucky to get one of the few tables scattered on the small patio outside of the temporary location. As we sat and ate we talked about all of the fun we had enjoyed so far while on our vacation and all of the fun that was yet to come.

It is important to mention that our friends who had sailed on the Magic with us were also checking in to the Poly with us as well! :) We were very excited about this!! More magical vacation memories with our good friends! So as we reflected on how much we were looking forward to spending some more time with them...up they walked. Talk about great timing.

We all thought it would be good to head over to the volcano pool and get some time in sunning and swimming while we waited for our rooms to be prepared. We had a lot of fun spending the morning out at the pool. The younger boys and "Cinderella" spent over an hour playing in the pop jets and "Aladdin" and their two older kids went down the volcano pool slide more times then I can even count. Come to think of it, the younger kids did too once they were done with the pop jets. I even took a trip through the heart of the volcano and made it out alive ;) It was a fun water slide, but if I were voting, I would vote for the one at the Contemp. over it.

Another thing the Contemp. pool rated higher then the Volcano pool on was HEAT!! HEAT!! Uhhh...forgive me...but don't they heat all of the deluxe pools? They simply did NOT heat the Poly's volcano pool at all! I was FREEZING the entire time I was in the water (and it was in the upper 80s outside and sunny). Even sitting by the little "spa" area where the stream "enters" the pool it was COLD!! I didn't stay in the water long and although the kids were loving playing in the pool with their friends, they took breaks to warm up every so often.

After about two hours of water play we checked and found out that our room was ready...we were going to be staying in Tokelau in a remodeled room. We were staying on the third floor and had our own balcony. When we looked out our window...this is what we saw:

The quiet pool.
aftercruise420.jpg

aftercruise424.jpg

And if you stood (or sat) outside on our balcony and looked to the right you could see Cinderella's castle!!!!
Not a great picture...but it was a great surprise view!!
aftercruise416.jpg

Here are some pictures of our room (the inside). I thought they were nice. Very spacious and (since I think we were the first people in them....very clean and spiffy).
aftercruise414.jpg

aftercruise410.jpg

**HINT...if you want rooms next to each other...link them in the reservations system...we had neglected to do so (a big oops for a obsessive planner like myself) and because of the electrical problems in a long house (or maybe it was in two of them) they were pretty full up. We were unable to get rooms in the same building.**

While we were checking out our new home for the next 4 days we got a phone call from dh's sister. She was calling to let us know that they were down in Orlando for the day (they are from GA). Also, she told us that they were at Epcot...so instead of the "take it easy at the resort" day we had planned we thought it would be a lot of fun to head on over to Epcot and enjoy a surprise day at the park with them!! It was a very quick walk to the Ticket and Transportation Center. WOW...FAST!!!! Minutes later we had boarded the monorail to Epcot and at about 1:00 we were on our way to Epcot!!

The boys and I were able to sit up front while dh once again rode in the back with the "regular folk". It was so much fun and there was so much to see!

Upon our arrival at Epcot we headed over to the Electric Grill to meet up with dh's sister and her family. We used one of our CS meals here...it was NOT our favorite meal...they didn't even have mushrooms on their topping bar (sniff sniff). Neither our boys nor their kids knew that they would be seeing the other at Epcot that day! It was AWESOME to see the look of sheer joy on all of the kids faces!!

After a very happy surprise, a ton of hugs and a quick lunch we headed out into the park. First we headed over to Test Track and I directed everyone to the "secret extra Fast Pass" machine. Okay...so maybe it's not secret...but this one machine spit fast passes out for both Test Track and Mission Space!! As we walked up to the machine I was hoping that it would still give out both sets...as I put in our tickets I held my breathe...and IT DID!! WOO HOO!! I looked like the queen of inside Disney info!

We headed over and took another journey on Mission Space. Once again "Aladdin" and I opted for the wimpy version and were joined by dh's sister and our niece. My db-i-l and other niece chose to go on the spinning version. Dh and our two youngest and our 8 year old nephew took a break and had a nice little visit while exploring the MS store/after ride area. While we were waiting for the ride to start my ds-i-l started to wimp out...only by promising her that the ride was "not that bad" did "Aladdin" and I stop her from opting out of the ride. It was a lot of fun to have all 4 places in the module taken by someone in our party. It was like a private ride all for us!! Thankfully my ds-i-l made it through okay and all of us had a load of fun riding it! Upon returning to our home planet we caught up with ds and the kids and made our way back over to Innovations since we still had time left before our Test Track fast pass window. We did the Plastics booth with the robot racers where you get to build a computerized robot and then race it through a maze against the others who have each built their own racers. Before the race you vote for the best looking robot ("Goofy" won this honor). And dh (racing with the robot "Stitch" built) won the race. "Aladdin" came in second place!! It was a good round for our family!! Upon finishing the racing portion it was time to build our very own plastic robots! Another one of those hard to believe it really is true FREE things at WDW!! Here is a picture of "Aladdin" and his cousin with a robot.
aftercruise252.jpg

After building our robots it was time to head back and take a ride on Test Track. We had a lot of fun doing that!! It was great for the boys to be able to act as little Disney tour guides to their cousins! After our super speedy test drive we headed over to Soarin'. The wait was listed at over an hour...and no fast passes were left...so instead of waiting we opted to skip Soarin'...our family had done it well over 10 times during the first part of our Disney vacation and they didn't mind to miss it (having never been to Epcot before, everything was brand new to them). So instead of taking a ride over CA, we went to chat with a turtle.
Here is "Stitch" walking with his one of his cousins.
aftercruise250.jpg

Over at Turtle Talk with Crush both "Goofy" and "Stitch" were chosen to talk with Crush. "Goofy" asked Crush what he did for fun. The answer to that was "Ahh...great question....I catch a wave dude!!!".

Then "Stitch" was asked his name and where he was from. Even dh and I got into the act when Crush asked who "Stitch's" parents were! It was a lot of fun! And we all laughed the entire show through.
Here are all of the cousins together outside of The Living Seas.
aftercruise249.jpg

After our visit with Crush, it was almost time for us to make our way back to the Poly. We had dinner ressies at Ohana and we surely didn't want to miss our dinner there (double YUM)! Before we left we took one final ride with them. We chose Figment because we knew that it would not have a wait and it did not. As we headed out of the park with them (they were on their way over to MK to see SpectroMagic) we gave them one final hug and took a few last pictures of what would be our last visit to Epcot this trip.
aftercruise256.jpg

aftercruise257.jpg

aftercruise258.jpg

aftercruise259.jpg

Photos snapped we once again boarded the monorail and made our way back to the Poly. We got back with just enough time to change and head over to Ohana. Once there we saw we would have a bit of a wait on our hands...so we ordered two Lapu Lapu's (served in pineapples) and grabbed a seat. The drinks were very good and the wait passed very quickly.

We LOVED Ohana! This is now tops on our must dine list!! The views from the window. The FOOD...oh the food. The peel and eat shrimp was divine. The skewers of meat OH MY GOODNESS! Every single thing that passed through our lips was a little bit of heaven! It was all very good!! The kids also had a lot of fun joining in the parade and the limbo contest.

After dinner we did a bit of shopping and then went back to our room. Pretty soon it was time for the fireworks to start so we met our friends down at the beach and had a really nice time just sitting on the beach, watching the fireworks and visiting with some of our favorite people. It was a nice peaceful end to our first night back on land. We ended up sitting and talking for quite a while after the fireworks ended and by the time we went back to the room it was time to get ready for bed and finally close our eyes and sleep. BUT...before I did, I had to take just a few more pictures! ;)

UP NEXT...going back to AK!! And a very special mom and me time at MK with "Aladdin".

Great installment. So glad your vacation is continuing for a few more days. At least I get to live through your adventures! Thanks for sharing!!! :thumbsup2

Another great installment! How great that you had a surprise day with your extended family! It would be so much fun to be at WDW with not only some of your best friends, but also some cousins!!!

I find myself sad along with you that you are now back at WDW in your report. That means it won't be much longer until you are done! :sad2:

Great job!

You are the best!! I just love the pictures and details...THANKS!!

Yet another great installment. The Poly rooms/views look beautiful. That's one of the resorts that on my to do list at some point in our lives! Also, how nice that you were able to meet your family. That's a great suprise! We also LOVED O'hana...yum!

Dh is DYING to stay at O'hana. We had the best time at the Lilo and Stitch breakfast there last trip, and we always stop in for a look around...............

You already know how much I LOVE this TR, so I'll not keep saying it (unless you want). ;)

You have the most PRECIOUS kids. :)

Great TR!!! I really l;ike seeing all the pics and hearing about your adventures.

So nice you had a surprise day with relatives!

Can't wait for more!!!

Day 2 The Polynesian adventure continues. :sunny:

The date is Sunday, October 1 and we are greeting the morning at about 6:30 AM. Instead of hurrying to get ready for the parks...we chose to go take an early morning swim with our friends in the quiet pool. They will be heading off to Epcot for the day while we have chosen to spend our day at AK.

We meet at 6:45 AM and spend an hour swimming in the CHILLY waters of the Polynesian's quiet pool. The quiet pool was chilly but not quite as cold as the Volcano pool. We splashed about and had a lot of fun talking about the fun things we all had planned for the day. After our early morning dip with friends we headed back to our room and got ready for a day of fun! By 9:00 AM we were all showered and ready to go. On our way out we figured we might as well stop and get some breakfast so we took a quick detour and paid out of pocket for some more breakfast platters. Three of them split up fed us all.

We were done and on our way out to the parking lot by 9:25 AM when we remembered we needed to run back up and grab out tickets. What should have been a very quick grab and go turned into almost an hour long search for missing tickets. **YES...I guess we do misplace a lot of important things  **

Lucky for us (or so I thought) I had paper work that had been printed off at ASMovies about the days used on the tickets which (again this is lucky) had the card numbers printed on them. So I take those down to the lobby concierge and wait....and wait...and wait...and wait. TWENTY minutes later I was finally able to present my paper at the counter and ask the hopeful question about getting them replaced...the answer was both good and bad. YES...WOO HOO...it could be done. The bad was that it could only be done at a theme park and so I had waited 20 minutes for nothing  Yep...it was one of those mornings!! BUT...I was at Disney and I was going to have fun!! :) So I used my cell phone to call dh and the boys and tell them to stop the hunt and that we could get them replaced at AK so it was FINALLY time to head out. By the time we got to AK and parked it was nearing noon.

Getting our tickets replaced was very easy. THANKS DISNEY for having a system in place to work with misplacers like us who lose their tickets! Within 15 minutes (and that includes the time in line for the guest services window as well) I had our replacement tickets in hand and we were finally on our way! As we made our way over to the turnstiles I heard "Aladdin" cracking up behind me?? What would have him laughing so hard?? Well...ummm....he was talking to a tree...yep, you heard me right. And no, he hadn't finally cracked from a long morning of waiting to get into the parks...the tree actually approached him and started to talk with him.
aftercruise263.jpg

That tree was FUNNY! After cracking a few jokes with "Aladdin" it came over to me and started asking me questions, "Where are you from? Do they have trees there?" I was cracking up!

As we started to walk away the tree asked "Aladdin" to "Spare me a wee drink please!!" And "Aladdin" looked at me for the okay...I must have looked a bit unsure as well because the tree said..."Come on...just a little sip...it's HOT out here! Pour it in!!" And "Aladdin" did...he gave the tree a "drink" by pouring a bit of his water bottle into the pot. This was one of "Aladdin's" highlight moments! He still laughs about the talking tree! He really had a lot of fun! I know someone must have been controlling him via remote...but they stayed well hidden and did a GREAT job interacting with us! We all thought it was super funny!

But finally we were inserting our tickets and walking INTO the park!!

AK day 2 is about to begin!!

Upon entering we made our way over to Dinosaur. "Aladdin" and I grabbed fast passes and while we were doing that dh and the younger boys grabbed us fast passes at Primeval Whirl(using their tickets..with only two of us riding each ride...we even had a ticket to spare). When we met dh and the boys at Primeval Whirl we saw that the stand by line was less then 5 minutes so we took a ride on it and then made our way over rode the the Dino Dumbos (known to everyone else as Triceratops Spin). The younger boys LOVE this ride and since the wait was only for the next ride to begin we did it twice in a row.

After our first rides we still had time before our fast passes could be used. And we were all a bit hungry (it was already the early afternoon). We went over to McDonald's (at the Breakfastasaurus location) and had ourselves a nice little lunch. And thankfully, this toppings bar did have the MUSHROOMS (yum...yum...YUM).

After a quick lunch we used both sets of fast passes. While we did, the younger boys and dh went into The Boneyard and had some fun on the playground. Here are a few snapshots I got when "Aladdin" and I returned.
The first one is of "Goofy".
aftercruise264.jpg

The second one is of "Stitch".
aftercruise265.jpg

On our way out of the Boneyard I paused to ask two CMs who were standing near the exit where the closest place to buy a bottle of water was. One of the two said he was on his way over that way anyways so he would walk us over. As he started to walk us over he began talking with us about our day. He asked me what my favorite part of today had been so far. My response was that I couldn't pick a favorite part so my answer would have to be all of it. He said he really liked that answer. As we talked and walked he told us that visiting with us had really made his day and he did the nicest thing for us...when we got to the snack cart he got us all waters for free....then he told us that since it was the year of a million dreams we were getting a dream...and we got three neat things....

First...the boys each got a little dinosaur finger puppet. Second....we all got a certificate to turn in later for another snack or drink. Third...dh and I each got a special tinkerbell pin set that you cannot buy but have to be given by a YoMD CM or another guest (you actually get two pins on each card and are supposed to spread the magic by giving one away to another guest. They are also not supposed to be tradeable...you are only able to be given them). While it was not a great big dream that got us a night in Cinderella's castle, it was a GREAT surprise and a wonderful dream come true! We spent about 15 minutes with that CM and he made us feel like really special guests! THANK YOU CM for including us in the year of a million dreams! We LOVED it!!

After our little dream come true, we continued on towards EE and KRR. Along the way we saw some of our furry friends out for a mid day cruise.

aftercruise266.jpg

We stopped as we passed Expedition Everest and I took a quick ride via the single rider line. Then we continued on to KRR. Here we found a 30 minute line so we grabbed a set of fast passes and headed over to the nearby bird show.

Here are a few shots I took during the show. Even having seen it before, it still made us laugh and the birds were still pretty amazing.
aftercruise002.jpg

aftercruise001.jpg

**TIP when they ask for volunteers with cameras...raise your hand high right away if you have one! You will get an awesome picture!!**

After the show we headed back over to KRR and used our fast passes to enjoy a ride. On our way through the line we took these pictures:
aftercruise268.jpg

aftercruise269.jpg

aftercruise270.jpg

This is "Goofy's" favorite ride at AK and one of his and "Stitch's" favorites in all of the parks. This time I didn't have my poncho with me...lucky for me I was not sitting in the "hot seat" (or should I say "wet seat") this trip down the river and I exited the ride only a bit damp.

After riding on Kali, it was almost time for the afternoon parade. Well...actually it had already started 10 minutes ago...but we know of a cool secret...if you go to where the parade begins AFTER the parade passes the route is empty. Everyone who was lined up has already seen the parade go by and wondered off...but the parade will loop around and return back to it's origin!

So we took the time to use our special treat certificate and got some assorted ice cream products with them and staked out the corner on the far side of the road near where the gate that the parade comes out of is. We sat there eating our ice cream and just about the time we finished up...we could hear the parade returning! Lucky for us, we had chosen the far side of the street so nobody could come up from behind us and crowd around.

TO BE CONTINUED...
