9/16/07 4 nights on the Wonder - Anyone else there yet

We got ours on tuesday also. They came UPS not in the mail. We are all set.Now it really feels like it is almost here. My daughter was so excited she had to show grandma yesterday.

We got one of two of our docs today, (we have two rooms) you would have thought they would come together, but no... I told dh that if his doesn't come he will just have to stay in WDW, he said, "heck no, I want the cruise!"

Out of curiosity, category of cabin does everyone have. We have connecting 10s but would love to upgrade, I emailed my TA today to check into that.

I also pulled out the luggage and started some brief packing, went to nobbies for pirate pirate: stuff!! They had a great selection and picked up some more Disney items at the $1 store for the airplane trip. Now to clean out the boys room to find all their Nintendo DS games for the plane and to get together each one's school work/journal/budget binder.

Where will the time come from... So much to do... so little time.. and here I am :surfweb:

we have a category 5 on deck 7 this time the first cruise in April we had a category 6 deck 6....

We received our travel documents today by UPS, but they were sent in seperate packages even though we are both traveling together, and staying in the same room. Our last cruise all 4 of us had our documents together in one package. DCL must have mailed out the documents early because of the Labor Day Holiday this weekend.

I have made a packing list, but haven't started packing anything yet. I need to cross a lot of items off of that list. We were just planning to bring 1 check-in suitcase each, 1 carry-on each, and what I can fit into my big travel purse. I know that not everything on my packing list will fit, and I always end up taking too many things anyway.

We will be in a Cat 9 Oceanview stateroom, deck 2 midship.

We are also getting really excited now, and the time really seems to be going by quickly. :cheer2:

We are also in a cat. 9 on deck 2, midship. I have picked out all the night time clothes and have those ready to go, 2 of our pirate outfits should arrive in the mail tomm. or tues. and have little stuff like waterproof camera, door signs, candy for the movies, and glow sticks packed. Regular clothes on tap this for this weekend. I am aiming for 1 suitcase, one garment bag and one carry on. There will be another suitcase that I will pack and leave in the car for our days at Disney after the cruise.

on Deck 2, we are deck 2 midship cat 10's. We'll all be right around each other. Can't wait to see everyone's doors.

Got ours today too!

Is there anything in that package I have to fill out if I filled out everything on line for the family?

Thanks. Now I remember the Bahamas papers. I wasn't sure if what I filled out on line meant I didn't need to sign the cruise contract.

Hi all,

This is our first ever cruise and obviously I'm new here. My DH (Paul) and I (Kris) are traveling with our 3 boys aged 10, 7, and 5 in connecting cat 10's. I see some talk about pirate clothes and other stuff. What am I missing? If you have done this before please tell me what is crucial for me to pack to have a lot of fun and make this trip memorable. I suspect it will be great without bringing any extras, but...

Also, anyone know if it is better to upgrade your cabin at the port or to call ahead? I've been debating upgrading but need connecting rooms and I'm not sure how easy that will be to do.

Thanks and I can't wait to go! :yay:

Kris

Welcome Kris....
There is a pirate night and some adults and kids dress up for the dinner and party afterwards. They do give out a pirate bandanna at dinner and they also sell stuff on the ship I think an eye patch was like $3.00. Some people wear the whole pirate costume while others may just wear a pirate t-shirt and some wear regualr clothes, its your vacation do what you want too!!! The pirate party is also the same day as castawy cay day which is Tuesday night..On are first cruise in April our DD dressed up but hubby and me did not.pirate:

I'm starting to pack too. Can someone remind me about dinner. I think I wore Khakis and a golf shirt most nights but is there one night that is a bit more dressy?

We are in a category 4 on deck 8. I was afraid to put the girls on the top bunk, even with a railing so we got a family style room so both beds would be on the floor.

This time in 14 days we will be sailing away!

It is my understanding that 2 nights are cruise, resort wear casual, one night pirate, tropical, and one night is "dress up" night. Wow, only 2 more weeks, where does the time go?:hourglass

On the four night cruise there is not really a dress up night. The only real dress up night is if you go to Palo's for dinner.... By the way, that is a must do.:yay:

Sorry if I was wrong about the dress up night but I have read previous navigators like this one and it says the evening attire is dress up, is this incorrect? or is dress up night not what I am used to on other ships. I have only done Disney for the 7 night cruise.
The navigator I am referring to is post 2 of this thread, I can not get it to copy to post here. This one is from 5-27-07. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1484084 this is also from here on the main boards
Disney Cruise Line Dining Dress Code
As part of the "Cruise Casual" policy, it is asked that you do not wear tank tops, swim wear or shorts to the dining rooms. Jeans are allowed.

The evening's attire is determined by the day, not the restaurant. On the 7 day cruises you will have a formal night, semi-formal, Pirate/tropical night and four "Cruise Casual" nights. (Disney Cruise Line will provide a brochure for tuxedo rentals prior to your cruise.)

On the 3 and 4 day cruises you will have one night that is designated "dress-up." Gentleman will be asked to wear a jacket and ladies either a dress or pantsuit.

As noted above, Palo has it's own dress policy.

Sorry if I misunderstood all this but this is where I got my information.

On are last 4 night cruise...dress up night was Monday and ladies wore long ball gown to capris and everything in between and men wore suits to slacks and hawaiian shirts...it was by no means a formal tadoo...which was fine by me. We just wanted to have fun and relax. So by all means wear whatever you want just have FUN!!!!!

I looked at the navigator link that disney girl posted. The night that says "dress up night" is the one I must have been thinking of. I think I felt a bit under dressed in my khakis last time. I guess we will see how much room there is in the suit cases after we smush in the Cinderella and Snow White big poofy dresses. :-)

What exactly is cruise casual? Do I need a pair of nice pants for dinner on those nights or can I wear I nice pair of jeans. I have a skirt or a pair of dress pants for dress up night but not sure what to wear the other night.

on the cruise casual nights i saw dress pants, capris, jeans, skirts and dresses so again its whatever you feel comfortable wearing there is no wrong...:)
