9-08-2010 Pirates through the Mediterranean/ Yo Ho! Yo Ho! A Pirates Life for Us

Thanks for the updated list. Me or the DW are unable to sew but I am picking up something here for each child. In less than 2 WEEKS we will be in Barcelona! My daughter got her phone call from Mickey Mouse on Sunday!!!!!

I love to see the little one's faces when they get things like that. Mine are a tiny bit too old for the call from Mickey, but when my DS was 3, Transformers came out, and you could sign up for a phone call from Optimum Prime, which we did, and I thought his eyes were going to bug out of his head when he put the phone to his ear! :lmao: "Mommy! Optimum Prime called me!!!!!" They're so cute!

Oh, and don't worry, I'm sewing for you too! You'll all see on board the ship, can't wait!

We don't get into Barcelona until after 8:00pm (20:00) on the 7th, so with trying to get to the hotel and all we probably won't make the tapas meeting, but eat some tomato bread for me!

Heyya Tigger! That would be great! N1a is the one I was looking at, too. It's $200 more to be picked up at the port, so I'm thinking with a bit of direction we could make it to the train. If you'd like,e-mail me (elilutz@ymail.com) and we'll get this done! I'm ready to have at least a few ducks in a row!

Hey, at least you are getting there on the 7th, we don't arrive til the 8th in the morning!

And I really want to thank you for taking care of the
FE list! It really will make everything so much easier.

We don't have a list of ALL the disers who have posted do we? If we don't I think I can generate one. Connie

I really, really, really hope that was an automagically generated list, otherwise,we need to talk about your leisure time issues! :lmao:

I don't think we have an official list of the DISers on the meet, is there one for the Champagne girls? Hey, if that's an automagically generated list, can you pick how many people it generates for? That might be easy!

Ah I'm glad I made the top 10!!!
We leave in 1 week for Paris and I am so excited! I even think I have everything just about ready to go. Now the only part I am dreading is 14 hours on a plane with a just turned 3 year old (her birthday was yesterday!). She got her Belle dress for her big day and now she can't wait to show it to the "real" Belle.

What are people doing in Malta? I was scheduled for the Disney excursion to the Blue Grotto but I cancelled it reading it was easier and cheaper to get a cab. Then I read a report on the Blue Lagoon on the Turkish Schooner and it looks awesome! But maybe not for a 3 year old - I don't know. Right now it is sold out on DCL, but if a spot opens up it might be one to consider.

Hello,

Just an FYI

I know that many of you are doing independent tours of the ports. I have been checking the DCL website several times a day for about 3 weeks to see if I could reserve an excursion that had been sold out. This afternoon I just noticed that many of the tours that had shown "no reservations available" are now open. I was able to get a reservation.

Couple of things;

My friend has been to Tapas Tapas in Barcelona and said it is amazing but wondered if we would be safe after dark so do we really want to meet at 7 pm?

Secondly, we wanted to change our reservation in Tunis and it was listed as sold out so we called the DCL and in fact it was not. They were able to get us into another tour. might want to try that route. They also told us things become available 3 days before the trip.

We will not have internet after the 5th so we need to know for sure if we have the meet up at Tapas on the Tues before so we are in if you all are so please let us know!

OOPS! My total should have said 132!!!!! My friend and I are going to take a taxi or a mini tour to the Blue Grotto if you want to join us. We thought we would do the Blue Grotto and then come back to the town to look around. Just play it by ear, depending on the weather. Connie

We were in Barcelona in June, and we were out and about most every night.
It is sad, but I feel safer being out at night in Barcelona than I do in Atlanta!
We were never alone, usually 2 or 3 of us, but if everyone wants to meet earlier, it is open to suggestions. I just didn't want to meet to early so people arriving on Tuesday could have time to acclimate and see BCN before we meet.

Just a reminder, be aware of your surroundings, keep your small bags close, and if possible attach them to your larger bags, and don't get distracted.

I usually attach my backpack to my larger bag with a carabiner (sp).
that way no one can just walk by and snatch it.

When we were there in June, one of our group had a bag lifted just after we stepped off of the AeroBus in Placa Cataluna. That is the only problem we have ever had, and this will be our third time in Barcelona.

From what I understand most places don't start dinner until about 7pm and I believe the Passig de Gracia (sp?) is supposed to be where all the upscale shops are etc. so I think it is pretty safe. Don't know if we will make it or not, everything pretty much is played by ear when you have a 3 year old in tow. I will get tapas one way or the other though!

We have our bike tour in BCN from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. but were thinking of hitting Tapas Tapas earlier for a later lunch maybe...Based on your suggestion I'd love to try it, but again, a little worried about the night time thing too although I have to say I did not feel afraid when we were there two years ago. All the stories are spooking me.

Don't let the stories scare you away from enjoying BCN, it is just another big city. Life is an adventure!!!!!

Lets Hope September is just as long! :cool1:

Ok, who else has an IPhone from the US and are you using it abroad and how are you handling the phone charges and the roaming fees? :confused3 Are you just putting it on airplane mode and using free wireless at ports? Are you being good and putting it away for two weeks? :sad2:

:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:

Just doing my part to get to 1000 :surfweb:

Don't know if you got a sensible answer back to this, and after just a day or two away (son got married) I come back to like 10 pages of new stuff!

I added the international roaming package and data block last year for an 18 day TA and used it in Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Scotland, Ireland (N&S), Iceland, and even Greenland. I made sure I stayed within the (I think) 50meg data limit, I was pretty careful. Only texted and didn't get any inward calls at all and made none out except by Skype. It's one of the few advantages of AT&T that Internationally things work like a charm on the iPhone.

FWIW ...

OK everyone, thought you would like to know, it is very hot in Spain at the moment, and not sure if you are all aware of this but..........

ONLY TWO, YES TWO......... WEEKS TO GO..............YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:banana::banana::banana::hippie::hippie::dance3::dance3::dance3::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
