I am new to disboards and am excited to read all the commentary.

My partner and I are booked on the Med cruise. This is my 3rd trip with DCL and my partner's 4th and his first trip to Europe.

Being that this is our first Disney cruise, and we have not been able to book our excursions or onboard extra's yet, what are the chances of getting Palo's for either brunch or dinner? Which of the two would everyone recommend?

On a completely separete note, I have been reading up on other DISboards of cruises either about to leave or already back. It seems that every one is worried about luggage weight. Not trying to push my own ventures, but I am in the travel store industry, so if anyone needs ideas or suggestions on how to save on baggage weight or even travel accessories that you will need, please let me know. I am that uber nerd that loves to pack, and I especially love all of the items that go along with it.

Since this cruise is so port intensive and were doing the TA after this cruise I dont think were doing formals and such ...seems like there would be too much rushing .... by the way we are early dining ...

Firstly Palo is great..... for either brunch or dinner. I have looked at the dining bookings on disneycruise.com and it is showing that no current reservations are availaible in Palos for either brunch or high tea, (dinner bookings, they seem to be taking), however, if you keep looking that may change, our past experience was that when we embarked, there was a desk we went to that were taking Palo reservations for all, brunch, high tea, and dinner. Hope this helps ps if you do get to book, be hungry, very hungry......

I would suggest dinner...I know Jason and I are in the severe minority here, but we were not that impressed with Palo brunch and we're not even going to do it either on the Med or the WBTA this trip----neither of us eats seafood of any kind and I know that is one of the things many people really like about the brunch, but also we just like both the atmosphere and the menu for dinner much better.

RE: Palo - I am guessing it will be easier for you to get a dinner since it is served every night (so there are 10 nights) versus a Brunch that is only on sea days (so there are only 2 days). Each has their highlights I personally like both with dinner edging out brunch by a hair.

We have late seating and are linking with some others who are on the B2B so will be sitting with them for both cruises (hopefully we like each other) .

We did the dinner on our first cruise. They were booked when the bookings first opened, but I kept checking everyday and one day some opening sshowed up and I jumped on it. We've only done dinner, but we're doing a brunch on the WBTA following.

I haven't seen anything yet, but we're interested too, we sat by ourselves on our 3 day and missed having people to talk to and distractions in the form of other kiddos...

Hello everyone! We are new to DisBoards, but will be doing our 4th Disney Cruise. We were originally booked for just for the TA, but added the Med today. Our first Back2Back! It will be me, my dh, ds (12), dd (8) and grandma (who has never cruised before).

This is a link to my own personal packing secret. It's called the pack-it system, and while it may make it seem like a hassle, it really allows you to pack a lot more into 1 bag than ever before. I also love especially the pack-its because they allow me to be completely upacked in about 2 minutes once I reach my room. You can find them at your local travel store or
luggageandleather.com

One suggestion though: I actual do not pack my pants or dresses with the pack-it. I lay them across the very bottom of my suitcase with the band on one end and the legs hanging over the other. I alternate sides with each pair of pants. I then fill the suitcase with all of my other items, pack-it folders, cubes, sacs, and toiletries. Then, you should have a short piece of each pant left to fold over the top. You will have no deep wrinkles in your pants, plus this helps to utilize every cranny of the bag.

I travel with a brand called Briggs & Riley due to the quality of the brand, the amazing warranty, and durability. But another great brand for weight (and still meant for true travelers) is the Eagle Creek Hovercraft luggage. These are both pricier brands, but are worth the money for travelers (especially overseas). I hope this helps. I am actually leaving for Chicago tomorrow, so while I pack I will try and remember some more tips.


One more I just thought of. There is a brand called travelon that makes travel laundry soap, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, etc. in a sheet pack. It works like the Listerine breath strips. You just add water and the strips suds to wash your hair or wash a shirt out in the shower. They are great especially if you aren't picky about brands and if you are short on space.
