9-08-2010 Pirates through the Mediterranean/ Yo Ho! Yo Ho! A Pirates Life for Us

Only 8 more getups so exciting
Hoping to have more luck today re clothes shopping for myself.
also hope to have some luck finding something that will stick what I have made to plastic aghhhhhh
Well with all that are flying out this week..... come next week looks like I will be the only one posting lol:)
:banana::woohoo::yay:

Hot glue guns stick to anything. If you've got a craft store around you can get the guns and the glue sticks. Here in the US they run about $3...

4:30 on the 9th (first sea day) at Diversions...

Got zip ties today for the trip (and I had to go get DH's anniversary card, which was today, and guess which one of us forgot to pick up the card yesterday? Yep, wasn't him!!!!!) so if someone forgets, just holler at me, I'll have extras.

I also sewed straps on a dress I bought on the ship last year when I realized we had Palo that night and all I had were shorts! I liked the dress (it's the shirred stretchy tube top kind of top, but cotton fabric, nice dress) but wanted straps on it, so now it's got them (yay for the quilting stash!) and I really like it!

Now I've got to remember to grab my tiara and boa tomorrow (my tiara is in DDs room on her shelves) to pack in the non-clothes suitcase! Kids have swim team rookie camp for the next 3 days after school so that'll make it go faster for them, Santa couldn't be bringing this cruise any slower!!!!! :lmao:

See you all a week from Wednesday! :banana:

Ok. Dumb question...but for what do you use zip ties?:confused3

Also, would someone with experience please clarify...do we put the Disney tags on suitcases now or after they've been through customs in Barcelona?

We are in the process of packing up and I really think we need more stuff. Has anyone had experience with taking a regular carry-on bag as a carry-on and then a small Vera Bradley type bag as the personal item (bigger than a purse...more the size of a large diaper bag).

I was going to put my tags on at home. If that's wrong let me know. I asked my TA about a carry on and a tote. She said that would be fine.

I take zip ties too - for a more secure luggage tie and to lock my suitcase in the room for things that don't fit in the safe.

Just a tip, as well...if you are bringing a fish extender, a zip tie is a good idea to secure it to the fish so it doesn't walk away. Our friend Deb who was the original creator of the fish extender idea (no lie...it's even in her DIS name tag from the tag fairy LOL) calls zip ties "the fish extender club" (like for your car steering wheel).

Just a quick bit of info....

I went to Target this week and they were just putting up a few pirate things in the front of the store where they have the $1 and $2 bins.

I saw felt, collapsable pirate hats for little kids and foam swords. I am still looking for eyepatches.

Is anyone from the group dressing up?

Exactly, I've seen several posts from folks recommending using them for your FE, so I bought a pack, they're not expensive, note to self, pack the embroidery scissors to cut them off! :lmao:

3 more days!!!!!! :banana::banana:

If you're using Disney transfers, put them on before you fly, if not, wait until you're through customs to be sure that they don't get removed by a customs agent. Since we're going to BCN rather than Orlando, if you have to get your bags first even if you're using Disney transfers, I'd put the tags on after you get in.

As for carry-ons, my rule is if I can stuff my "personal item" under my seat, then it's fine no matter how big it is. We use backpacks all the time as personal items, in addition to the small suitcase.

I always use a tote bag as a personal item (with my purse inside) so that I can carry more than my purse will allow. Just as long as it will fit under the seat, they don't care. If there is room in the overhead, you can then put it in there so that you get more leg room.

My fish extender was shipped today. Let's hope it arrives by Saturday!

I know I read somewhere in all the information that you can have Mickey call your child to announce the upcoming trip. I can't seem to find the information anywhere. Does anyone know how you do that? Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the info. I was just thinking about this today. Now I will pick a couple of them up.

Yes, thanks for the tip about the zip ties, don't want to lose that FE!!

I just got my email from Delta telling me to check into my flight! How exciting!!

I'm going to get up at 4 am tomorrow even though our flight doesn't leave until 1:30 PM to try and get acclimated to the time change. I want to sleep a good portion of the flight - I just hope DD does.
23 hours and counting!!!:goodvibes
