8A versus 5E on the Fantasy

Depends what you want: more inside space or large veranda? The 5E's are only standard size rooms; split baths. 8As are the larger Family size rooms; no split baths.

We just cruised on the Dream in a category 8A. Loved the room! It was so nice being right beside the porthole. I wish other rooms with portholes were set up this way. The amount of space is this room is great. You lose the split bath, but we didn't miss it at all and we had a teenager traveling with us.

Our next cruise is category 05E. We're trying something different. It's a GTY rate, so I'm hoping we are not upgraded to a higher category.

So, to answer your question...right now, I would choose the 8A because it's a great room, but that could change once we've stayed in 05E.

Love the 8As on the Dream, and they are the same on the Fantasy. I have never sailed a verandah, but I have no desire to do so. So I would pick the 8A!

Depends on the 5e. If you get one of the reclassified HA rooms (like 7688), you'll have lots of room and the large aft corner verandah.

Likewise I believe some of the 6A's on the classic ships are like this.

I went back and forth with this myself and chose the 8A. I always get a balcony so this will be a new experience for me. I adore the porthole seats throughout the public areas on the ship and can't wait to have TWO of our own!!!

If you have a napping child, the verandahs are great. You can sit out there while they sleep. We also sit out on ours at night, since DS usually goes to sleep earlier. There is the curtain between the bed and sitting area, so that helps too. We use our verandah a lot, but we like to read. One of us will be with DS swimming, while the other chills on the balcony. I like to sit up on deck and read too, but I had difficulty finding a seat in the shade on Fantasy. Verandahs are great for people watching in port too.
