That really sounds like too many for dinner. I think you all will run into problems with seating. Did any of you think about instead doing an Illuminations Dessert Party? Just a thought ...

I'd love to do one, but the last time I checked into it, they were pretty expensive. I wanted to host a private desert party for our Christmas 2006 DIS Meet, but decided against it when I got all of the prices in front of me. I wanna say the least expensive option was about $1000. Things may have changed, so we could price it out and see...

...then again, $1000 split between 40+ people isn't so bad...

OK here are my very fuzzy plans, a lot may change when they release the official hours, EMH's and P&PP's! (does any one know when they may release the P&PP dates?)
I believe in March-ish?

Fri 22nd---TL---Narcoossee’s 6.30pm

I have heard great things about Yachtsman Steakhouse at the YC or if Concourse at CR is still around in August.

OMG!! I almost had a freakin' panic attack!!!:scared1: :scared1:

So Waldo calls me and tells me to book our flight b/c he heard on the news today that SW is adding a $50 fuel surcharge to their flights. He didn't want to see Airtran follow suit, so he wanted to get our flights settled.
So I mosey over to the Airtran website and start booking the flights - Departure date: 8/20 Return date: 8/28 and put all our info in. Well, it comes down to payment time and my credit card is not working. WTH?? So, I go back and double check, turns out I was putting the wrong name w/ the credit card! BUT wait!! What's this??? Those are the wrong dates!! The return date should be 8/29!!! Phsew!!!! I fixed and out popped my correct itinerary!! I was soooo lucky not to screw that up!! :lmao: I almost lost my "secret" extra day! :rolleyes1

WHAT:scared1: I need to talk to Jim. Airtran for us is still at $228 round trip. Can't book anything on Southwest yet because they are only up to August 3rd:headache:

Glad you got your flight. What time are you flying out on the 29th?

Whew! Glad that worked out!!
I tried the secret extra day trick too but my plan was thwarted by cries of "how many nites is that? I can't miss work...I got cheerleading..." Whine whine whine :sad2:

Does anyone know when Southwest will open up their schedule for late August? AirTran is at $109 each way for us. I'm hoping to do better than that...

Michelle, I'm not sure, but my friend who's heading to the World in May was stymied by not being able to book her return flight as at the time they were only up to 5/10. Anyway, she called to see if they could help her by phone, and the lady clued her into a spot on the site that should tell you when the next group of fares is released. Unfortunately, I can't find it. I'll e-mail her and ask where that was, then post again. ;)

Hopefully the Donald's Breakfastosaurus is better at Tusker House. We all thought that this was the worst character meal we ever went to. The characters were so rushed and the food was yucko. Sorry ...

We've discussed this already, but I disagree. ;) Moot point, though, as it's new and different. :thumbsup2

We are staying at POP CE. The boys would have a great time hanging out, just sayin:rolleyes1

I know, it was one of the things I had in mind. :goodvibes

That's funny, just after reading your post, I went to Deb's site to remember the name of the place at the YC that my friend really likes, found it, then looked at Mo's next post, and well, she got it. My friends really like Yachtsman.

Phsew!!!! I fixed and out popped my correct itinerary!! I was soooo lucky not to screw that up!! :lmao: I almost lost my "secret" extra day! :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: Glad you saved that one!

Glad you got your flight. What time are you flying out on the 29th?

I got the 2:29 flight out of MCO connecting to ATL then to LAX. I figure ME will pick us up around 11:30 - so that gives us time to schedule an 8am breakfast @ CP, 1 hour of Fantasyland and back to the hotel by 11. I hope.

If you do get the grand gatherings #, you should ask for help planning a dinner for 41. They might have an affordable option. I have heard lots about WDW getting better with making special arrangements for LARGE groups.

Trust me, they would rather book you looneys to a private room somewhere then let you interfere with the other families trying to enjoy their vacation.
:goodvibes

But... but.... do you think they'll understand that our dinner needs to be "Wiener" themed? :confused3

we're on a 1:55 flight on the 29th, maybe we can stalk you at the airport one last time:sad1:

Should we maybe go back to Mo's original idea about the Illuminations Dinner/Dessert thing:confused3
I was looking and for the 4 of us it would be $240 :faint:

OMG! Jo, you realise we only have the 22 & 23rd the same! :faint: I need to see more of my English BFF!

I am hoping to get me a later flight, maybe around 3:00ish.

I had a steak at Coral Reef that was pretty darn tasty!

Oh I forgot about Coral Reef. This is on my nephews like to do list....now to jus fit it into the schedule:rolleyes1

Good morning everyone! :goodvibes

Glad you got your plane tickets, T! :thumbsup2 I think I'm going to take my chances and wait for Southwest to open up their schedule. It may be a big mistake... :scared:

Jo - What price for the Illuminations Dessert Party are you basing your cost? Did you call and get a new quote?

As for the great steak debate, I can vouch for Yachtsman Steakhouse. We've been there several times and have never had a bad steak. The last time we were there was for dinner on Christmas Day 2006...

Look! They even have their own butcher right there in the restaurant. How that for fresh steaks?!

I also agree with Tracy, the filet at Kona is really good, and S'late - the Coral Reef was great, as well as the filet at Jiko (YUMMY!) and I also like California Grill. BUT if you want other types of beef other than fillet - go with Yachtsman. :thumbsup2
