It is great...the Cruise Staff gets all dressed up in 80's fashion and get the crowds involved and on the dance floor....they have a floor show with the main stage performers dancing to Thriller song...it is really wonderful.
They they pick people to play the GO's GO's and Bon Jovi and have a battle of the bands. Our teens participated several times in this on our different cruises and just loved getting involved!! The bands each play on stage (in costume!!!) and the audience votes who was the best!!! They also have a visit from the Village People!!!
We had a blast at 80's night! They actually have two different activities that evening. They have a "family" 80's dance party in Studio Sea and then an "adults only" party after 11pm in Rockin' Bar D. We did both and had a great time.
On the Wonder, the Village People appear at the 70s Party, not the 80s. The Michael Jackson number has been removed from the 80s Party (I'm guessing due to his "troubles"). Personally I think the 70s party is more fun than 80s, although they're both good.

Thx for the updates, Barb! It makes sense to adjust the 80s night music, but those tunes are truly classics! All the theme nights (60s, 70s and 80s) have been great highlights of our other cruises on DCL. Probably making upgrades on these would enhance them. The "new" 60s night began on our cruise last summer and we really enjoyed that.
