I like to get up and dance at shows too. If I am at a show with a lame crowd, security usually says I can stand during fast songs, but sit for slow ones. If I want to sit during a concert, I get seats further back.

I like sitting at concerts. Always have, since my first concert, Duran Duran. Hate standing. Hate it when I'm sitting and people stand! If I want to dance, I go to a dance club or get "pit" seats (do shows even have those areas anymore?). If I want to hear live music, that's a concert.

Saw Madonna last November, we were around 3 rows back from our section's front (our section was raised up so in a way those people were "front row"), and the first row would stand up, we would all have to stand up...then they'd sit, we'd all sit...they'd stand again, we'd stand, and so on.

But I can't even figure out how you'd dance to Willie Nelson...guess I haven't heard any of his songs for awhile.

weird..i've never been to a concert where everyone sat the entire time. the people who constantly need to get by are pretty much the norm, though, at least in my experience. my favorite concert EVER was kool and the gang (yes, it was about 25 years ago, lol) it was held at the fox theater in atlanta and it was just one big dance party the whole time-LOVED it!

I have a slightly different beef, but it still relates to rude concertgoers.

We went to a Jonas Brothers/Avril Lavigne/Demi Lovato concert last summer. People standing up to get concessions was the least of my problems. We had all sorts of people who overran our section and the security did NOTHING to protect folks from the crush and barely anything to really protect the performers & stage. It was truly *SCARY*. And yes, the next day, after I got home I found all sorts of contact e-mails & phone-numbers & complained to the record company, the venue and the artists' management firm. I really thought someone was going to get maimed or killed.

We had reserved seats near the walkway that jutted out into the audience. The cherry on top of the sundae was the pushy MOTHER who sauntered over the seats and into our section saying as some sort of excuse that her (older teenage) daughter was simply Avril's BIGGEST fan. Well, surprise, surprise...the duo came back and were the Jonas Brothers biggest fans too. The mother couldn't believe it when I wouldn't let her by me in my row.

OMG don't get me started!!!

First of all, I HATE to sit at concerts. Just hate it. It seems like now if it is reserved seating you sit most of the time. If it is GA you stand and stand for HOURS (and I am getting too old for that! ) Rarely do I get that happy medium.

People who get there late or leave to get food/etc during the show are also annoying. I was on an end at a concert a few days ago and half the opening band was interrupted by the late comers. And they were the ones I went to see.

And then there are the people who TALK. I have been to three concerts in the last 2 weeks and at two of them I was around people who thought nothing of talking on the phone or chatting away during the acoustic portions of the show. Two of the three people were quiet when I said something. The other gave me attitude and told me in no uncertain times he WAS going to talk and I had to deal with it. And the ushers refused to get involved. Absolutely RUINED that concert and I had driven all the way to Las Vegas to see it.

My final pet peeve is people who push their way to the front for a GA concert. This past spring I went to a couple shows that were GA. I waited for HOURS before the doors opened to get a good spot only to have people try to push their way past me. Um...NO. If you want to be up front then you can wait 8 hours like the rest of us up here did.

Another weird thing was that everyone sat through the performances except for a couple of Bob's songs. I wanted to get up and dance and have a good time. I wasn't there to "watch a movie." I paid over $80 for my ticket, and I expected to get up and have some fun!

You should have stood up and danced, even if no one else was.. usually if one person gets up.. others do as well

I prefer to sit, personally.

It was a great concert and we had no problem standing up and dancing in our seats. We were highing up then you though.

Well, I mostly attend hard rock/metal concerts. No one is sitting....ever.

Last month I had pit seats for Papa Roach and I was front row and too be honest, I still have a stiff neck.

Sitting is the norm here. If you stand, you get yelled at to sit down.

But what really gets to me are the people who get drunk at concerts. When you get that wasted, how can you possibly remember it? I will never forget when I saw U2 with my ex-husband...the girl on his other side was so drunk that she fell over 4 times!

I just went to a No Doubt concert. We stood for the whole show. Yeah, I was tired but it was great. People going by didn't really bother me.

Guess it just depends on the music/artist. I went to an Elton John concert and we sat most of the evening. While it was pretty good, sitting is not my thing and I got kind of bored.

If I'm paying for a seat, then I'm sitting...that is my mentality...If people want to stand up and dance around during shows they can get tickets for the pit(or for outdoor shows) or the lawn. Now if it is a completely general admission standing only show, fine.

My beef is with people drinking all night...
1. how can you enjoy a concert when you are that drunk?
2. you annoy everyone around you...you are not what I paid to see, stop acting a fool.
Then again I just don't understand the mentality of having to have a drink at concerts? Give me a glass of water or a dr pepper and I'm good to go.

You need to go to a Springsteen concert - three hours of singing and dancing with Bruce!!! It's a "religious" experience! I don't get the people who sit throughout the concert. Why bother to go? JMHO

Exatly!!! Why bother to go? If you're not going to enjoy the whole concert experience, you should buy the CD's and sit at home on your couch to listen. I am not a concert sitter. I do sit when I'm at the ballet, opera or orchestra performances. I also sit during jazz or blue concerts-most of the time, although there have been exceptions, like the House of Blues. People climbing over seats? I would not welcome that nor would I allow someone who had not paid for front section to push their way into my seat. I'd be off to get the gendarmes. I had a girl sitting next to me at a James Taylor concert once who was totally soaped out(she had taken downers) that all she could do was yell "ooooooooo JT!!!! JT!!!!" all night long. He(James Taylor) finally asked her to quiet down in the most gentlemanly way. She passed out, lol!
My husband and I still say "JT" to each other when we see a unattractive loaded woman. It's an inside joke.

I think the standing thing depends on the artist(s) playing. I personally prefer to sit, but will stand if everyone else is. I saw Celine Dion - great concert- and stood most of the time, but it seemed appropriate. When I saw the Eagles I sat the whole time, and that too seemed appropriate. That was another great concert However, the lady in front of us was SO annoying. She was plastered, and they kept getting more beers every five minutes. And then she kept screaming, no one else was screaming around her. I mean, I can see screaming when the energy is up but she was screaming in the middle of 'Long Road into Eden'. The people sitting next to her kept switching spots with each other, I guess so no one person had to go deaf . Then, she was all over her husband/boyfriend and sat with her arm draped over his shoulders, which is fine, except she also had her arm draped over my DH's knees. He finally tapped her on the arm and gestured to get off his legs. OMG did she glare at him. The left after another 10 minutes giving us the most filthy looks as they were going. Still not sure why she got so mad at us

if im feeling the song i have to stand up and dance. i tend to go to a lot of outdoor music fests because they are mostly standing. like last weekend i went to warped tour and there are no seats there whatsoever if you wanna sit you sit on the ground. my favorite performance was by an artist named LIGHTS she had the entire crowd dancing & singing and no one was going crazy like moshing or pushing. she was upbeat and i had a great time watching her perform.

the last concert I went to was Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood. Everyone stood and danced/clapped the whole time. It was a blast! If I had to sit through the thing I would consider it a boring concert!!

When ds(25) was around 14 or 15, he and I went together to see Aerosmith (the BEST concert). Ds's first concert. We were standing on a landing toward the end of the show (they kept coming back out to play "one more song") and this drunk woman was waaaaaaay at the top of the stadium and started down toward us. She was almost at a full run by the time she reached ds and threw her arms around him! He was quite shocked ! Even more so when she started trying to pick him up!! At the time I wanted to hit her but the look on his face was priceless! I don't think the drunk ever realized she was talking to a kid (she had to be at least 50!)
