I am taking my 8 year old sister to Disneyland for her first (my 3rd) time. She has never been on any rides except for the rocking pirate ship thats at Bite of Seattle. She is super excited right now and wants to go on every ride- including Tower of Terror, which I am too scared to go on- but I am afraid she will go on one of the big ones and get too scared to go on any others. Any advice?

Also, anyone have tips for making the trip EXTRA special for her? Thanks!

Don't start with the really big rides if you're worried that she might be afraid. Maybe do something like Pirates first since it has a couple of small drops but overall is pretty calm. Then you can work your way up to the bigger rides.

Don't forget to get her a "first visit" button from City Hall (or they also have them in many of the stores if City Hall is too busy).

When we went this last November, my DD6 had never been to DL. We also thought she was going to be scared of all the "big" rides. We started slow in Fantasyland, and things were going great, until she saw the Matterhorn and it was all downhill from there! HAHAHA We HAD to go on that RIGHT NOW. lol
After that she didnt want to waste time on any of the "small" rides.....her Fave for the trip? CA Screamin!
That girl is fearless!!!!
I'm sure your sis will be fine!

You could always start out with the Gadget Go Coaster in Toon Town. If she likes that head over to the Matterhorn. If she is scared on the Go Coaster chances are she won't like the others. If she doesn't mind the dark I would try Space Mountain. It is such a cool ride. Just prepare her for what it is like.

If she can handle a pirate ship, then Tower of Terror should be no problem. It's more the thematic elements that spice up Disney rides.

My DD9's favorite ride is (and has been since she was 6) ToT. She LOVES it!!!! She's the only reason I will ride it. :) It's her must do ride every trip. :) I'm sure your sister will love it too but I would suggest starting out slow. My DD was used to rides, we had season passes for our local 6 Flags for 2 years before we took her to DL for the first time. Pirates is good but it has a dark drop so maybe start off in Fantastyland first, or do Haunted Mansion first or Toon Town. I'm not a big fan of most of the rides there but I do like the Roger Rabbit Car-Toon Spin a lot. I bet she'd love that one!
