Does anybody know if any of the car rental companies have 8 person minivans. I know they rent fullsize vans but they are ridiculously expensive.
Thanks.

when thinking about minivans remember suitcases when planning space. not a lot of storage. we had trouble finding room for everything on grandsons MAW trip with 2 adults and 3 under 9 year olds with a full sized van coming from and going back to airport

We had rented a 8 person van 6 years ago but I don't remember which company. it was a Toyota sienna. Luggage wont be an issue. We just need the seats for getting around WDW.

Toyota Sienna's are the only 8 passenger minivans that I can think of. The problem is, that although a rental car company may have them, you aren't making a reservation for a specific vehicle/make of vehicle... only a class of vehicle. Therefore, there is no way to guarantee that a Sienna will be available v. a Town and Country. No one wants to promise you an 8 seater and deliver a 7 seater.

Not all Siennas hold 8, ours only seats 7. Have you considered two cars instead? It's probably cheaper to get two cars than a minivan, assuming you have two drivers.

The best thing is to CALL all the big ones (National, Alamo, Budget, Avis, etal) and ASK.

It may take you 15 minutes, but minutes well spent.

I know NATIONAL specifically rents them -- for the same price as the seven-passenger at least when I search they are always the exact same price.

BUT, the "eights" do not always show up on the National "selection screen," which leads me to believe they sell out very quickly.

ALSO...they NEVER show up on National if you use KLM or a few other contract IDs (must be specifically "voided" from a number of contracts).

Just a WAG, but if National rents them and SPECIFICALLY reserves them, brandmates Alamo or Enterpise may also....but call around.

Alamo and National have the 8 pax. vans. If they don't show when you make your reservation, call. They sell out fast and you will pay a premium price for them.

They are usually rented at a higher price as they are considered to be "premium". They do sell out fast and sometimes they just don't show up, so, your advice to call is excellent. If you rent one from National you will probably have to go over to Alamo to get the vehicle as they rarely keep them in the National area. Not enough room. It used to upset me when a renter got annoyed with me cause they were not on the National side.

As always YMMV, but for the past two months National's price on the eight passenger and the seven-passenger has been sitting at $266 for my dates.

Seems strange they would both be the same price, but there you are.

If I use any of the several contract codes I am entitled to use, the eight-passenger disappears from the selection screen leaving just the seven seater at $266.

Glad I reserved a seven-seater at $142 from Enterprise back in February.:goodvibes

Good deal!!! I just played with some dates and the 7 seater came in at 380.00 and the Sienna came in at 880. I used 9/20/2014 - 9/27/2014. Yes, it does seem strange that they would be the same price, they usually are not. Customers used to get sticker shock when they wanted to upgrade from a 7 to an 8. Forget the months starting in April through August, the 8 pax does not show up. Again, great deal with Enterprise.

We used Alamo 12 passenger van when realized without the roof rack we didn't have enough room they upgraded us for $5 more a day. That was a beast to drive and park, but tons of room!

If the whole family travels we use ME and let two of the men p/u the van.

We also used. Carls vans during the 90's when flying in they picked us up at MCO.

Some Honda Odysseys are 8 passenger as well, but I have only seen two Honda rentals in my entire lifetime.

In looking for rentals I have seen Alamo and Hertz list 8-passenger vans from time to time, and they both stated Toyota Sienna.

We are also looking for our trip in July and Alamo has a 8 passenger premium SUV and it is a Chevy Suburban. So far the least expensive pricing is through Costco.com

Suburban or similar. Like a Ford Expedition.
