By the last full day of our stay we had done everything - I had signed off on mousekeeping a few days because we were so crowded in the tiny room and too busy trying to do disney - this final day I decided to leave the digital camera in the room - we did eride (only way to do the mountains) came back late and discovered the camera gone. Searching the room as we re-packed up everything, looking under the bed - found used condoms. Disney rooms are expensive and small. SMALL and EXPENSIVE. I was worried early in the stay about kids and items and was told 'hey relax - the people here are family' - I am upset at the resort overall - the camera was stolen, the room was not clean as it should have been prior to my arrival. Only one of two things could have happened - someone with access to my room took the camera or left the room open where another could take it.

I got the feeling the manager I talked to didnt seem to care much about either - she pointed out I was only in the room one night... uhmmm... WHAT? I was there 8 nights. What if I hadnt done the room search for the camera and found the disgusting mess under the bed and what if some little baby did?

I have the number to file a security report in the morning now that I am home - about the camera only. I will not stay at the POFQ or the PO again based upon the way the manager brushed off the STOLEN camera and the disgusting mess under the beds.

Sorry to hear that your camera was taken. It is a good idea to keep all valuables locked up or put away where someone can't see them.

I would also let WDW know also about the managers attitude.

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!! I am so sorry that happened to you! housekeeping should definitely be looking under the beds!

My parents said once when we were kids years ago they found a used one in the sheets at the bottom of the bed they were about to put us kids into; they were horrified and this was in the 70's before anyone knew about AIDS! Back then housekeeping was up in a FLASH to switch the bedding and apologize all over the place. years later we found blood on a bedspread at an Allstar; same thing, quickly replaced it all and apologized right and left.

I have found WDW hotel management a lot less interested in pleasing people in the past few years. When we checked in at one of the all stars on a past trip and the bathroom was so filthy that I went over it with shampoo (had no lysol, i pack it now) and a wash cloth which soon had the black imprint of my hand. I put it into a zip lock bag, marched to the front desk and plopped the bag onto the counter and demanded cleaning supplies! They said they were unable to give them to me (chemical hazard  ) and said they'd send someone to clean. I watched them clean it.

They took 20% off of our stay for the night. blech. for that level of dirt they should have comped it completely!

so sorry about the camera too. it sounds like you just can't leave anything valuable in hotel rooms anymore no matter where you're staying, even WDW :(

i wish i could say that was a new thing but i remember even when i was a kid at wdw we had someone try to break into our villa through the glass sliding doorwall... such a world we live in.

i hope they apologize and try to make it up to you somehow!

((((hugs))))))

Man, my husband was grossed out by cookies we found under our bed at POFQ. If I mention this post well never be able to stay there again! They really do need to be trained to look under the bed.

Ishy,

So sorry to hear about your experience. It is SOOOOOO frustrating to get that type of response from someone in charge in the "service" industry! I agree with Safetymom, I would let them know about that manager's attitude, too.

Just wondering, which room/building were you in?

Yikes! Suddenly the crackers & chips I found in our room at the Poly dont seem so bad.
Sorry about the camera. That stinks too. Maybe it will turn up in the lost and found somehow.

That's awful!! I'd keep complaining and get some sort of something from them!

We were in building 2 - Off the top of my head, I dont remember the room number but it was the very first room(corner) on the first floor.

I will probably NEVER stay in a WDW hotel again. This trip has taught me a few lessons about being treated as cattle. They have so much business that they do not need mine apparently. I am glad I sold all my disney stock - I have a new respect for Roy Disney and the savedisney.com site --

My vacation was interesting with bad and good - my kids learned spades by candle light during charley.... The damage to the orlando hotels from the hurricane is not being shown on TV --- or even reported upon.... I feel sorry for people arriving this week.

Can you let us know what damage to the hotels? You have me worried.
We are supposed to leave tomorrow and maybe I should just cancel and go another time.......

I don't think you have to worry about the hotels. Why not call them and ask if it has any damage.

so sorry about your trip, we were at pofq from 8/7-8/10 and also had a bad experience with mousekeeping, they took all our food and diapers/wipes, bottle and sippies the first day while we were at the park, didn't get a very apologetic response from management either! We have always loved POR though.

That is awful - we have had certain things stolen in the past (on two occasions, one of which were Disney hats we had purchased as gifts). From that point on (sad to say but true), we put the DO NOT DISTURB on our door for our entire stay; we are not messy and only need the restock of towels and toiletries left at our door every day; we just leave one tip for our entire stay at the end of our trip. I wish I could be rest assured that it wouldn't happen again but we chose not to take that chance - I hope you get this dilemma resolved - sorry to hear about it.

Last year as I was doing a final sweep of our room at the Poly to make sure we weren't forgetting anything I found several Goldfish crackers .... whole and smashed .... under and behind the nightstand. Glad that was the worst I found!!! :crazy2:

I'm sorry about your camera. :(

I did not go back to the Disney properties after the storm but I can tell you that the hotels around the airport, seaworld and kissimee took on heavy damage. I would call to find out if they have power first. As of yesterday many hotels didnt have power. I saw big slabs of concrete off the sides of many hotels, broken windows, downed powerlines, totally trashed stores - the glass atrium of the crown plaza destroyed...

I have to say that it is my feeling that the hotels will repair quickly - hide what cant be - Orlando would be more devestated by the loss of tourists then 3 charleys blowing thru. They will minimize what they can and hide the rest quickly.

Thats when I found all our goodies too, while packing up. There were fish crackers under the day bed and what really grossed me out were chips between the head board of the bed and the mattress. We had had no fish and only BBQ chips in our room and these were plain. Thank goodness they didnt attract bugs.

I am so sorry for the loss of your camera. I know how unsettling it is to feel that your possessions aren't as safe as you'd believed. There is no excuse for theft nor for the GM's attitude about it.

While I definitely sympathize with all guests who have found such "left overs" in your room, I also have to say that it sounds like some real slobs had the room sometime before you. I know that if my DD and I eat in our room, I always make sure to keep the mess confined to an area that would be easily cleaned, i.e. I have my DD eat seated on the floor if there isn't a table and chair in the room. I strongly discouraging eating in bed by my DD as I hate to feel crumbs while I try to fall asleep :)

This doesn't, of course, excuse housekeeping but I have more sympathy for them than I do the slobbish guests.

This just reminded me that when we stayed there this May, I found a full pack of Cigarettes and a lighter under the bed while looking for a missing toy.:( This was a non smoking room. I'm glad I found them instead of my DD's (4 and 10). Seems that mousekeeping doesn't always check under the beds.

Sorry for the loss of your camera, luckily we have never had a problem. But I never leave anything in the room unless it is locked up in the safe.

Cindy

When Mousekeeping does a sweep of the rooms it seems that should include checking under the beds. That's not an unusual place for belongings of one sort of another to be kicked, whether on purpose or not. Yuck about the condoms!

I'm so sorry you had these bad experiences!!! There's no excuse for either theft or not cleaning under the bed. It is mind-boggling how filthy some people are. Can you imagine putting something like that under the bed & not throwing it away - multiple times. Eeeeeeew!!!! But by the same token, when you clean a bedroom, you need to clean under the furniture! Please, please don't let this go. Management can't correct the problem unless they know about it. I'm sure there are many other qualified people who would be happy to have that GM's job! Sorry if I'm ranting, but as a former retail exec - I get absolutely crazy when I hear things like this. The main thing in the service industry is SERVICE! O.K. I'm done.
