We have reservations for an 8 night, 7 day MYW stay in November. Just discussing with the DH about plans. He just told me the earliest we will be there on our arrival day is 6 pm.

I know all of you are a wealth of information. So here's my question what would be the best way to save a little money since we won't arrive in time to go to a park the day of arrival. Get 6 day tickets?

Yes you do not need to have tickets for every day...most do not..and you can still add dining if you want as that is per night of hotel stay not park tickets.

We are staying 7 nights in August, but we are only buying a 4 day hopper ticket with water park and more option. We will go to the water parks twice, Disney Quest and play putt-putt on the days we don't go into the parks. Undercover Tourist has a special right now where you can buy the ticket above for the price of a 3 day ticket and you can get a refund if needed!:woohoo:
The best thing to do is decide where you want to go and what you want to do each day! Then you can decide how many days you need for tickets!:thumbsup2

I called about dropping a day or two on our hoppers and the cost was only $30 a day for the 3 of us, so I left it. I am thinking of adding the non-exp and saving 2 days for Christmas.

Sending you a PM.
I can never understand why people post that they've "sent a PM". Is there a problem with sharing what you have to say? Then why bother posting? Just send the dang PM and be done with it! If not, then post it so that others can benefit from your information.

OP, the difference in cost between a 6-day ticket and a 7-day ticket is pretty small (about $10 each). While I would certainly change the tickets to 6 days, I would also keep it in the back of my head that I could enter the parks on the first night and add a day later for that tiny amount if I decided that I had the energy when I arrived.

The savings is quite minimal as others have posted. I would suggest using your arrival day and a day in the middle of the trip to explore your resort, other resorts or Downtown Disney. 6 park days in a row is exhausting. You really need to give yourself some time to relax. I know it's tempting to get park tickets for each day when the difference in price is so low.

This is the way I would do it, too. We are always eager to get to the parks ASAP upon arrival, and for us, arriving at 6PM, we would definitely want to visit a park, even if it was only for an hour or two that first night. We would go to whatever park is open latest and maybe hit one or two attractions.

Considering the small $ of adding a 7th day, its worthwhile for us. And it's easy to add another day to your ticket later if you decide to do this, you don't have to make the decision ahead of time.

We were just there over Easter Break for a ten day stay. In the past whenever we'd go to WDW we automatically got the number of park tickets equal to our length of stay (minus 1 day to travel). We did this last time too. But after our trip, when we were home, I was thinking there is no need to have park tickets for everyday we're there. (Though my husband may still like to). Since we had tickets for everyday we were there, we didn't want them to go to waste, Personally, for me, it was too much. I'd rather have a little more relaxing time at the resort pool or even an extra day or two at the water park. Again, my husband will probably disagree.

Another option if you are driving is to not do an eight night seven day stay. Book your first night hotel somewhere near Disney - there are cheap hotel rooms all over the Orlando area. Rest, relax, get a good nights sleep - then the next morning get up early, check into the hotel, leave your luggage with Bell Services, and head to the parks. We fly in and there have been trips were we've stayed our first night somewhere near the airport before going to Disney in the morning if we are taking a late flight.

It very rarely makes sense to add the NE option to tickets. You have to do the math and make sure the cost of adding the NE option is less than just buying another ticket. Oftentimes, it is not. Realize that you'd have to add the NE option for the total number of days on the ticket, not just the ones that you want to "save."

I agree with everyone else. Even though the price difference is relatively small, it's still worth saving that little bit of money since there is no point in going to the parks exhausted from traveling. During my upcoming trip in August by DBoyfriend and I will not be getting in until 6pm as well. We instead made a late dinner reservation so we would have something exciting to look forward to the first night.:cool1:

Hubby will have just finished a full marathon so we have no plans to walk around much for a lengthy amount of time so no tickets arrival day.

I'm thinking of other ways for you to save besides park tickets. But I need a few details first.

1) How many in your party?
2) Flying or driving?
3) Staying at value, moderate or deluxe?
4) Free dining or no free dining?

Normally we don't get tickets for arrival or departure days.

Except... for when...

We have gotten so excited that we decided to leave a day before when DH got off work. Either we stay at Holiday or Hilton at DTD, depending on which has the best rates, or if we have enough points for a free nights stay. Also we have dropped a day if we decide to go to US or IoA, my BDIL works there so we get a perk there.

This year we are not going to leave until somewhere around 10 to 11am. as our pet sitter will be coming that day, and we want to get her situated. So we won't be arriving until probably around 6 to 8 depending on how many times we stop, and traffic of course. If we get in around 6 ish we will just head over to DTD for dinner and drinks. So when we wake up the next morning, and we can sleep in a bit :thumbsup2, Then we will head for our resort, check in and head for the parks.

That makes sense. There are plenty of places to go and things to do in the evening that do not involve entering a park. Just relaxing at your resort after a long day of traveling can be enough.

As a PP has pointed out, there are other ways to save money on your trip but without knowing further details, it's kind of difficult to help you with cost-cutting measures.

I am in a similar situation. I meant to only get 6 or 7 day tickets on our package. We arrive from Universal on the Monday night, and leave the following Monday. I don't think we will enter a park the first Monday, and was pretty sure I would build in a rest day during the Disney portion. However, when booking my package it defaulted to 8 day tickets and I booked it that way by accident.
It doesn't save me a great deal… but dropping down to 6 day tickets puts $85 back in my pocket. However every time I go to call and change it I think "But what if we end up wanting to go to a park everyday? Then I have to add it back and that's a pain."

So at this point.. I still have zero idea what we will do.
