GAT and DL.com only offer a max of 6 day parkhoppers - how do I go about a possible 8 day tour of the parks? Can I add days, or do I have to purchase another 2 day hopper? Is it a hassle to do this? Is there anyone who offers an 8 day pass?

I heard Disney does not offer 7 or 8 day hoppers anymore. Your choices would then either be 6dh + 2dh (or 5dh + 3dh) or annual pass for your dates.

You can purchase 7 day and I believe 8 day hoppers from Disneyland Travel or at the main gate. I called Disneyland Travel and the CM confirmed I could purchase a 7 day for our May trip.

When you say Disneyland travel - did you call the Walt Disney Travel Company? I have been hearing conflicting answers. Are you buying a travel package from them?

Unless you're planning to go during a peak time when the Deluxe pass is blacked out an AP seems like your best value overall. Consider that the cheapest combo option is a 6 day for $179 + a two day park hopper for $143 for a total of $322 versus a Deluxe Pass for $269. Also consider the pass gets you a 10% discount on most of the shops in parks and many food vendors and that's even more saved.

Of course since you aren't local it's not easy to get back for a return trip but you do have a year which opens the door to even bigger savings if you return.

Looking at the ticket prices (I've had APs for years) it is amazing how much of a sliding scale they now have for longer stays. But even with the reduced rate/ day it does seem like they may have dropped the 8 day passes given that most people just bought passes.

Walt Disney Travel offers a package that is basically an 8 day hopper plus a Downtown Disney fun card. I had to pay in full when I purchased it, but I won't receive my tickets until within 21 days of my trip. I had to give them the names for everyone and ages of the children, just as I would if I had been booking a package. Price was $218 for adults (I believe... that number is stuck in my head).

For us, APs don't make sense because we most likely won't be back within a year, and we'd have the 2 Saturdays of our trip blacked out. As soon as I heard I could get the 8 days through WDT, I ordered them.

I'm wondering when you got this information? I heard that the 7 & 8 day hoppers are no longer being sold, however, they will honor the ones for the packages that have already been booked.

I called the number for the DL ticket office (714) 781-4400 (I thought they called themselves Disneyland Travel). I wasn't buying a package, just asked for the price for a child's 7 day park hopper. I was quoted $224. We are planning on purchasing AP's for our kids, but the last day of our trip is backed out so I'm buying 7 day tickets then upgrading to the AP on our last day...

Despite the ambiguity, they have not been wiped off the face of the earth. There have been a few inquiries regarding the 8-day hoppers through GAT and Disney online, but several DISers have called WDTC's number, asked for 8 day hoppers, and sure enough they do exist. I don't know the specifics.

The previous posters are correct. They are available, both through Walt Disney Travel and at the ticket office (the ticket office actually referred me to WDT, as they are cheaper through them). Getaway Today is telling people Disney doesn't sell them anymore, but that is not correct. They do sell them, they just don't offer them through 3rd party outlets, or on their website. You have to either call WDT or the ticket office.

I just called the Disneyland Ticket office at (714) 781-4400 a few minutes ago, and they confirmed that they no longer sell 7/8 day park hoppers. Guests can purchase more than one multiple-day park hopper or upgrade to annual passes if they want to spend more than one day at the park.

I know for a fact that the Disneyland Travel Company (room only and package reservations) only offer 2-6 day park hoppers, as well as so cal city pass (not sure if they offer APs, but they might), and do not offer 7/8 day park hoppers.

My own personal opinion - I think this is a result of people purchasing 8-day hoppers (same price as 7-day hoppers) and making money by selling the use of these tickets on E-Bay. This practice was not sanctioned by Disney, and now the rest of the community loses out on getting the most out of their Disneyland Resort vacation.

Mary Jo - thanks for looking into this.
So here's my situation. We are looking at being in DL for May 16th to the 24th. We are considering upgrading to AP's on our last day, however, being that our last weekend is Memorial Day Weekend, all but the most expensive AP's are blocked out. And I am not sure if it will be worth it for us to get the Premium AP's, since we aren't exactly locals!:)

So here's my question: Assuming we get some sort of combo, would this work?
2 Four day parkhopper passes? That way, we'd get two MM's, and our full 8 days. Now, here's the kicker - can we use the cost of both of those passes towards our AP upgrade at the end of the trip, or will they only count the most recently activated PH? Perhaps I should just call them - this is getting a little complicated...:headache:
Any thoughts from those "in the know"?

I bought mine last year for our trip in december 08. We went thru a canadian TA and we paid $204.00 for 8 for 6 day price. We had never heard that they stopped selling them. In fact the 2009 brochure of a well known Western Vacation Co. still list them. Check it out.

That's strange. You called the DL ticket office, but I actually think that the WDTC has given different answers. Kim (Brermama) did call them sometime last month and she was told that they are still available. Under what means, I'm not sure.

I may have completely misunderstood you in which case dismiss my answer and laugh if need be :)

The days you have listed make 9 and you were looking for an 8 day so that means one of those days you were not going to be in the parks? Well the Deluxe AP is 269 and buying 2 four day hoppers for an adult would be 588 (@194 ea?). So even if you did the deluxe AP and then 2 blackout days for 40 each it'd be cheaper. I think you can only use a current ticket and not past tickets. But hopefully someone else can explain better.

I called about 2 weeks ago and was told they still had 7 and 8 day park hoopes as part of a package (basically a parkhopper plus a 10% card off at DTD) and then when I called 2 days ago when I got my Tax refund...they said they had just canceled that option not 1 week earlier. I got online and bought a 6 day hopper instead.

Thanks! :thumbsup2 Yep, you had it right - spending a day in Legoland, so no need for ph's for that day. Actually, that was also part of my question - I didn't know with AP's whether you could purchase blackout days, and, if so, how much that would cost. So it's $40/person per day for blackout dates? That's not so bad...perhaps I could use our MM day with 6 day passes, then upgrade to AP's and just purchase the blackout dates....so, do I do all of this at the ticket booth outside the parks? Will we waste half our day waiting in lines to do all this stuff, or can I send dh and the kids into the park while I do it on my own...? How much time should I budget for all this ticketing stuff?

I don't know the answer to all your questions, but my understanding is that you can upgrade/purchase an AP on a blackout day and use it. I'm going to call Disney to confirm but that's my plan for our trip in May.

They just canceled the 7/8 day hoppers last week, so that would make sense. I called the DL ticket office today, but I've spoken with the WDTC/Room only reservation people yesterday and today.

Kerickson makes a great point! But unless you skip 2 day at DL then it wont work out for you because there are too many days between your blackouts. I haven't had to purchase a blackout day ticket but they are 40 each and I am guessing they need to be purchased at the ticket counter. At WDW we were able to upgrade another day right at the hotel but I think DLR is different. Again...many people on this board know A LOT more than I :) I would assume they need each AP present and shown to give you the blackout ticket and it has to be purchased day of? Not really sure...perhaps you can make a post about blackout day tickets and someone will have much better information for you! GL :)
