Yeah!! It's finally here, Emabarkation Day!! The Wonder!!!! I think I'm more excited than the kids! But then I've been here studying for 6 months!
After a quick (we're too excited to sit there long!) character breakfast at 'Ohana we head out to meet our ride. Booked an Excursion with Happy Limo and it was already there and waiting for us! Our driver Sebastian was great! Very friendly and informative about the area! Little Mermaid was playing on the DVD but only DD was interested in it. DS kicked back and slept and we chatted with our driver. He told us to look out to the left as we approached the bridge and there she was The Wonder! Of course I had the camera ready and snapped a couple of pictures and next thing you know we were parked at the terminal. It was about 11 am and we were probably among the first 10 families in line. DH stood in line with our day bags and we walked around taking pictures, then we traded places and he walked around. Promptly at noon they began boarding. We had our picture taken then stepped on board I was so excited to be there that I was holding back tears when they announced our name.
We were directed to Parrot Cay for lunch. Sat across from a very nice family from Naples, Florida who I realized was Rate Queen from our cruise meets board after I got home. Was so excited to be there that I never even brought up the Dis boards with them. Also met a nice couple from New Jersey who were sitting at the other end of the table. Chatted with them many times during the cruise.
Didn't need to do the ressie rush as we booked the REAS and had already made ressies with Debbie weeks ago! After lunch headed for the pools. DD was the only one who wanted to swim, so she changed and went down the Mickey Slide then over to the Goofy pool to swim. Had the pool to herself for a while. Weather was georgous we were worried after the rain the night before.
Soon it was 1:30 and DS and I went to check out our stateroom. Room 6042, cat 6 veranda. Very pleased with the room! Our REAS basket was there and also a cheese platter from our TA! No luggage yet but did not expect it. Went out to look out the veranda and there was a knock on the door. The first of the luggage had arrived. I unpacked what had arrived and took pictures of the room.
We were excited to see in the Navigator the there would be a Prem-EAR Wednesday of Princess Diaries 2!
Went back to deck 9 to find DH & DD. Got a couple of Bahama Mamas and sat back to relax! Soon it started to rain, thunder and lightening. Pools were closed and we all went back to the room. I was starting to get a little disappointed that the Sail Away party might not happen!
4 pm and off to the lifeboat drill. It was short and easy, rain had lightened up at that point but still coming down. They made the announcement after the drill that the Sail Away was going to be moved in to the Atrium. Returned vests to the room and off to the Lab to register DD then to the Sail Away. DS thought it was "hecka dumb" so he went off to explore the ship. The Sail Away was ok but I think I was a little disappointed that it wasn't out on deck. After the party we went out on deck 4 to watch us leave port. We saw some dolphins but I wasn't able to get any pictures of them. DS met up with us and we just wandered around the ship for a while. It rained pretty hard at times but everyone told us they would navigate around the storm.
At 6:30 DH, DD and I wanted to see Hercules the Muse-ical but DS did not want to go. I start thinking, great time for my easygoing DS to turn into a moody teenager! I immediately think he is going to be this way the whole cruise and have a terrible time and told him the cruise will be as much fun as YOU make it! His response was Common Grounds opens at 7 and I want to check it out. So I told him we would meet up in the room at 8:15 for dinner.
Went to Hercules and we all really enjoyed it. Passed through the shops after and saw people in Treasure Ketch looking for sea-sick medicine. I was soooo afraid of getting sea sick that I had brought a pharmacy with me! Everything from Sea Bands to Transderm Scop patches. I was feeling great though!
Back to the room to find DS, we had late seating and were eating at Parrot Cay tonight. We were a little disappointed when first seated because we were at a table for 4 and we had been really looking foreward to meeting people at dinner. Disappointment didn't last long, we were soon chatting with the family sitting next to us! Great couple from Maryland with their 9 year old twin DS & DD. My DD had done her state report on Maryland last year and it soon became a Maryland trivia game. She impressed them with her knowledge, especially knowing the state sport was jousting! Our server was Witt from Thailand and assistant server was Vijay from India. They were fantastic! Witt did magic tricks for the kids every night.
As soon as we finished eating DS was off to Common Grounds (even before we ordered dessert!) which ended up being the pattern the whole trip. Servers enjoyed teasing him about it! He made good friends there and really had fun!
After dinner DD and the 9 year old twins wanted to go to the Lab so we took them there and went to the 80's night at WaveBands. At midnight we were paged that DD was heading back to the room so we finished our drinks and went back ourselves. DD was so excited when we got back, she had had a great time with her new friends and guess what? Their stateroom was right next door to us and they could visit on the veranda! DS had permission to stay at Common Grounds until it closed at 2am so he was back in the room by 2:10. He had really enjoyed himself and couldn't wait to go back the next day!
Off to sleep, Nassau tomorrow!
Oops I almost forgot, sent our good clothes out to be pressed, as this is vacation and I'm not doing laundry or ironing!!!!!!
Also forgot to mention stopping by the silent auction and falling in love with 2 pieces of art. First one a framed lithograph of the ship with cartoon Little Mermaid characters at the bottom titled Voyage Of Enchantment and the other a photograph of the ship docked at Castaway Cay with cruise stickers at the bottom. Spent lots of time gazing at those 2 pieces!!!

Great start. We enjoy having a table for 4, you really are close to those setting around you and you can chat if you like or not have to make conversation if you're not in the mood. Best of both worlds.

More, more, more!!! I have to live vicariously on these reports for the next 89 days....:Pinkbounc
